Dr. Joseph Bergman

Dr Bergman performed a total right hip replacement for me at the Whitefish, MT hospital on 11/29/23 using the Mako Robotics Assisted System. I am so glad I researched Dr. Bergman and Mako, as the surgery and my recovery have been FANTASTIC!!! I can truly compare, as I had my left hip replaced 18 months previously by a very qualified and experienced surgeon without any assisted robotics. I believe the combination of Dr Bergman’s experience and expertise (check out his previous career as an engineer), as well as the precise measurements of the Mako system resulted in the AMAZING RESULTS that I am experiencing! My main concern was a leg length discrepancy after my first hip replacement. By all standards the discrepancy was within acceptable and normal limits, but I could feel it, and I was having some back pain and knee pain and my pelvis was tilted. IMMEDIATELY, WITH MY FIRST STEP AFTER SURGERY WITH DR BERGMAN, I knew that I was level and balanced again! Thank you so much Dr. Bergman for the countless hours of training you have pursued, time away from your family, your cost of education, your diligence and perfection in your craft, and your dedication to helping your patients! I'm a nurse, needed both hips replaced at 48 yrs old and I am thrilled to actually feel comfortable and enjoy hiking, kayaking, Zumba, swimming....Dr. Bergman is THE BEST and I refer my clients to him.

My husband needed a hip replacement and Dr. Bergman came highly recommended. They were right! He was knowledgeable and very willing to explain the entire process, his staff was kind and caring - very personable. From beginning to follow up, we received the best of service. Excellent experience from start to finish. Dr. Bergman performed TNR on both knees, three months apart. Very professional, knowledgeable, and competent. Outcome has been very good - able to hike 11+ miles 7 weeks after second TNR. Highly recommend Dr. Bergman to anyone considering knee surgery or replacement.

I had both knees replaced by Dr. Bergman. I could not be happier. He is very professional. His staff is knowledgeable and supportive. His assistant, Tim is also awesome.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about, I received excellent care, advice, and was treated very pleasantly by the staff. I tell ya I was a little leary going there due to the reviews, but i have nothing but good things to say about it!!

As a Veteran who has suffered thru the last 33 years of life with a Torn R-Hip Labrum from USAF Military Service, now Disintegrated from years of grinding and Bi-Lateral Hip Dysplasia as well as a Broken C4-S1Vertebre, I find my experience with Dr. Bergman and the Kalispell, Montana VA Clinic very frustrating, useless and pointless actually. I don't want Steroid Shots that eventually will further destroy my already chronically injured/ broken joints, I want them 'Fixed' so I can return to a Normal Life!
Go to the Sale Lake, Utah VA if you're are truly suffering from long-term Chronic Ortho Pain and need proper Pain Management or Surgical correction! There is a Ortho Surgical College right next door, who are teamed up with Utah VA Ortho!

Always get a Second and Third Opinion!

I waited on hold for over 9 minutes to talk to their triage. I am just trying to find out if I need immediate medical attention for a knee injury sustained in a fall. Their answer: that's really up to you. No questions, no concern, just a feeling that I was bothering them. Maybe it is my fault for expecting people in the medical field to still care about the welfare of others. Huh.

Took me three weeks to wait for a followup appointment. Got there five minutes early. An hour and 10 minutes later I was taken to the examination room. 20 minutes later I walked out.

Flathead Orthopedics suck in so many ways. Want a day of frustration? Go there. They have absolutely no concern for their "customer's" schedules. Very arrogant and cold employees.

Rude secretaries they don't help or answer questions! The only reason I gave this place a star is because it wouldn't let me give zero stars!
