This place was amazing!! Had a really delicious escarole, bean and sausage appetizer, the arugula, fig, prosciutto, ricotta cheese pizza is amazing, and so was the spicy sausage pasta dish, as well as the vodka sauce dish!! Servers were all lovely in the atmosphere was fun and vibrant! My Garden Sour drink was very good too!! And my dad didn’t complain about the espresso, so that means it must’ve been good. We also got the tiramisu for dessert and that was delicious as well.

A delicious place with a lively and welcoming atmosphere and knowledgeable, warm friendly staff. We make a point to show off Torrington to visiting friend's by taking them here. It is a restaurant/bar that Torrington and Litchfield County should be proud of! Espresso martinis are legendary. Pizza always comes in at the top during local pizza wars. Extremely welcoming to everyone including families. Highly, highly recommend! 🍕✨🌈

3 NOV 2023 UPDATED:
Wow!! I could not have been more wrong about Sasso's in my initial review. I was invited back to the restaurant by the owner (through google), and I made a reservation right afterwards. The owner offered a free pie, something I rejected. I simply was touched by the amount of care Sasso's has for their customers, and even my lone review could spark that response. Upon our second visit, we were seated right away and treated to the same service we had previously.

I truly believe that the pizza the first time was a fluke. This second one we ordered was spot on, everything I've come to love from a coal-fired pizza. Perfect crust, wonderful cheese, not greasy, and able to be held. We ordered the eggplant parmesan pizza.

I seriously wish I could leave a higher review for the service at this place. Please, if you ever find yourself in Torrington, stop by Sasso's. You will not be disappointed.

The service here was fantastic, I'd like to open with that. We entered at a busy time and the waitstaff were able to pull some strings to seat us. However, it doesn't get better from there. The pizza was pretty mediocre. I've had coal and wood fired pizza all over Connecticut, and Sasso's came highly recommended to me, so it was disappointing to get such bland and underwhelming pizza.

Amazing pizza place. My very first taste of the famous Connecticut-style "apizza". It was crispy, thin, had a flavorful punchy sauce. Also the two ladies who served us that night were fantastic and super nice.

Great atmosphere, beautiful decor and very friendly staff and wait staff. Coal fired pizza you say? It was cooked the exact way I was hoping. Great thin crust, fresh, sweet enough tomatoe sauce, cheese was the exact right proportion, sweet onions were exactly as I like them, pepperoni and 1/2 artichoke hearts, also proportioned just right. I was told good things about Sasso's and they did not disappoint.

Sasso's is definitely my top choice for brunch. The menu is inventive, and the brunch egg pizzas are delicious, especially the Lovely Lady and the Piglet!! The waitstaff is wonderful. Aaliyah and Taeya really stand out as they are super friendly and attentive, making Sasso's a warm and welcoming environment.

May 2023 - always happy to return to Sasso's. We chose to sit outside on this warm windy Spring day. The garlic and herb wings were flavorful, crisp and moist but a little oily. The white clam and bacon pizza was a new choice for us from their menu and really delicious.

Another fine meal at Sasso's in August 22. It had been some time since experiencing their shrimp, bacon and spinach pizza with red sauce and we wanted to try it again. Still delivers. Also still excellent are their smoked chicken wings. We ordered half Buffalo and half Garlic and Herb. Two special cocktails, Lavender French and the Perfect Manhattan above par.

If an opportunity presents itself to go to Sasso's, personal or professional, I'm there. Delicious food. Sitting outside after a recent event, a good variety of a dozen pizzas came to our long table, as well as two salads, Caesar and mixed vegetables, and sausage with broccoli rabe. Favorite pizza for me was the white pizza with sausage.

Every time I drive by Sasso's I want to pull over and get a pizza. There is always some pressing appointment, or too small a window to sit down and eat or some other reason it doesn't happen. So the other day driving my partner somewhere nearby, we agreed we didn't care if we only had twenty minutes, we were getting Sasso's pizza. We didn't have time for their wings sadly, but ordered their Meat Head pizza with bacon, sausage, pepperoni and meatball.

Even better, we were glad to see we could order two specialty cocktails from the new bar Sasso's built next to their main room and kitchen. Great idea. We would get wine or beer before, but it was the right idea for Sasso's to expand and add a full size bar and tables to their already popular establishment. Our waitress said they put it in around a year ago, which shows how many times we or I have driven by and not been able to stop!

Taking photos, I was pleasantly surprised to walk by the door that connects the newer bar to the original space and see the chef was actually tossing our pizza dough high in the air and catching it, in true old style. Each catch and spin the dough got bigger and thinner until it reached the right size to be prepared for the signature coal fired oven.

Sasso's has always had a cool interior with high ceilings, wood, metal, exposed brick and a combined rustic but modern feel. The bar space is an extension of this with plenty of tables, a long bar and the same modern soundtrack playing over the speakers. Our service was quick, the pizza was hot and savory and the drinks were well-made in petite glasses. We boxed up what we couldn't finish to enjoy the next day and were only five minutes late! We will find time to enjoy this spot more frequently, it's such a delight. Give it a try if you haven't yet.

We returned here a few days ago and the wings are still double baked and juicy. We tried the meat pizza this time with sausage, pepperoni, bacon and hamburger and it was really good just like their shrimp pizza we usually order. We do find since the crust here is so thin and crispy it's best to eat right there in the restaurant rather than take it to go in a box which steams it in transit to be too moist.

Great smoked wings with a crispy skin from the coal fired oven. Today's pizza was delicious with shrimp, bacon and spinach. Diners have a choice of red or white sauce. Wine and beer bar. Our cappuccinos were really good. The chef came out and asked his patrons how their food was which we appreciated. Their sangria which the menu says is made daily wasn't on hand except for one last glass which we ordered. Tasty.

Sasso's is located right in downtown Torrington easy to get to and with its rustic roomy dining area inside and comfortable outside dining area its a nice place, I believe they have live music sometimes.
Parking is limited as its right on main st there's a lot up the street near city hall and the shopping plaza as well as parking behind the Warner theater.
Prices reasonable and service quick.
We ordered take ot and it was ready in 20min
Definitely recommend 👌

We had ceaser salad for starters followed by small pizzas that were more like large. The drinks were tasty.

I have been a regular since this place opened and it has only improved over time. The staff are wonderful, welcoming and take pride in making your visit a good one. The pizza is some of the best in the state (meathead and trufflo are my favorite) , and the evolving dinner menu has new favorites like chicken parm. This is a perfect start to an evening at the Warner or a night cap. Must visit!!

Great pizza in an upscale, yet relaxed atmosphere. Pizza was thin crust and delicious, but the (special) arancini appetizer was the standout. Most restaurants in the US make tiny little balls with mostly just rice inside; these were large, crispy, and really done the way they are in Italy!

Jazz brunch was incredible! Classics on the menu like eggs benedict and waffles but kicked up a notch with short ribs and chorizo sausage. Excellent cocktails and cappuccino! Excellent value and support local. They grow their own lettuce and make their own bread! Live music for free from 2 well-known musicians for freeeee! Haven't even tried the pizza yet but it looks phenomenal as everyone raves about it. Everything on the menu is so good and the salads are huge!

Food is great. We did not try the pizza however it is highly rated and several tables had pizza. You won't be disappointed. Roughly around $22 per person plus your drink and tip. They have sidewalk tables during the warm season.

Wood fired deliciousness! We love the thin crust and wings with the sweet heat! Can be a bit of a wait, but worth it. This type of thin crust must be eaten at the restaurant… not the same by the time you get it home.

AMAZING MEAL! I had to write a review. We ordered the teriyaki wasabi wings, and they were perfection! My friend Andy and I were amazed (and believe me, we are wing guys) The wings were huge, the meat was tender (the way I like it) and the flavor was delicious! But THEN -- we ordered a sausage, onion, and garlic pizza (our own creation) and well, just LOOK at that photo, and tell me your mouth isn't watering! The quote at the bar that day was "I can't wait for my next bite". We were baptized with fire and water, sang 3 songs, hugged the chef, and joined hands in prayer. Highly recommended!

Me and the rest of the Torrington and guys love going down to Sasso’s for ice, cold brew and some delicious food and the wonderful atmosphere and wonderful staff you get what you pay for and I have no problem paying for what I want to get some people on here. Put some pretty messed up reviews and I think that’s awful if you don’t like a place or like someone just never go back again simple as that I hope to see this place get bigger and bigger and keep growing

We've been to Sasso's twice now and both times we had a great experience. Our first time we sat inside - my wife and I got the Sweet Cecilia thin crust pizza which was awesome. My 9 year old son got a standard cheese pizza, which he loved (so did I!). Wait staff was very attentive. This inside feels slightly cramped, but not horrible and the decor is very nice. We arrived just after 5pm on a Wednesday. It was busy, but not full at that time.....when we left around 6 the place was packed with some people waiting.

Our second time we ate outside around 6pm on a Wednesday. The place was packed and we got one of the last available tables. They had a jazz band playing, which made for a nice atmosphere. My wife and I got the Fire Roasted Cauliflower appetizer. It was very good, I'm not sure the $12 price tag was justified, but we enjoyed it regardless. For the main course we got a house salad and ceaser salad. I really liked the light dressing on the house salad. Again, service was good...no complaints there.

We'll definitely be going back to Sasso's. Their pizzas are well worth trying, especially if you're into thin crust. Their prices may seem a bit high, but you do get what you pay for.....there's a lot quality in the pizzas they produce!

Best pizza outside of New Haven. Great atmosphere with friendly staff and craft cocktails. Happy hour too!
