They are there for help when you need it, polite and friendlier then the hustle and bustle of Waterbury DSS or Hartford DSS (sorry guys I know you are extremely busy at every DSS office but Torrington is ALOT more laid back.. I must mention you just can't go to any DSS office you want to, the one closest to you is more exact. For their time go to their website for closing time and too check your SNAP call the number in the back of your grey Connecticut Connect card...

Be patient. This group of people will do EVERYTHING they can to help.

if your going to apply I suggest waiting to talk to someone. they try to get you in but the wait is usually an hour or more, if there are ppl waiting, then probably more than an hour. the guard and police officer from tpd are in there usually minding their own business, but keeping a watchful eye. you can usually get a lot taken care of right at the window, just make sure you know your client i.d. number and/or social security number and you have the specific documentation that you need obviously if you don't know what you need ahead of time, you should still go there, they can answer all your questions usually right there at the window, on their computer. but if your applying for food or cash they usually expect you to meet with someone in the back. the earlier in the day doesn't always mean the better, I guess it depends on the day. I know it's a real pain in the ass getting these people on the phone, so even if you just cone to wait in line to talk at the window, stay and fill out an application just to leave it with them and then leave, or stay to talk to someone, you will definitely get a lot done.
just gotta make sure you can recievee your mail wherever your living because those redetermination forms come and they don't screw around!! if you don't fill them out and send them in, you get cut off whatever benefits you get, and then you gotta start over!!

Fast in and out ,saw an agent asp fixed my problem.very nice service.staff helpful.just make sure you bring everything so you waste there time
Phone is aweful.theweb you get locked out to quick.so I go in person .this location is off Kennedy drive in Torrington. Go early to get best in &out experience 😁

Theyre closes till further Notice. I went on 8/18/20. It would be nice to know qhen theyre opening up again.
