Hudson's Cafe & Bistro

What an amazing and wonderful surprise to find this hidden gem! Simple yet outstanding preparations of favorites (a nice treat vs. often overly prepared attempts at fancy recipes at some other places). Super fresh ingredients, cooked with unusual care and skill for a small bistro, and very friendly and attentive service. My mom raved about the egg platter with perfectly crispy bacon, and i had one of the best ever oatmeal bowls, which turned out to be tasty and creamy slow-cooked oats, just the right amount of cinnamon, and with fresh fruit artfully arranged on top. The restaurant is clean, bright, and even a touch of hip with a comfortable couch in one corner, and a beautiful outdoor patio. Turns out they also have a nice lunch menu, and are open two nights a week for dinner (serving beer and wine as well). As a low-key but upscale neighborhood bistro, they deserve all five stars! We’ll definitely be back!

Hudson’s is an adorable hidden gem in Southbury! Many of the locals are familiar with it for their breakfast and lunch, which I definitely want to come back and try, but it’s a sin not to come experience their dinner menu. The chef is fantastic, and their seafood is some of the freshest you can have because they own Southbury Seafood next door! I thought it was great how many gluten-free items they had on the menu - I think they had more than I’ve seen at any other restaurant. The rigatoni must’ve been made with gluten free pasta, because it was specified as gluten free on the menu, but I couldn’t even tell the difference! Every dish, dessert, and drink was phenomenal. I would go back for the hot spiced butter cider alone because it was SO good. I hope to come back soon!

OUTSTANDING! The food is incredible. Gluten free bun is outstanding. I’m so impressed with the coffee - Italian style espresso, not sharp or bitter, just full of rich flavor like you are at a cafe in Italy. The decor is modern and clean. I couldn’t be happier to have found this place. Don’t hesitate, go.

Bonus: Outdoor seating is great.

This has been one of my most pleasant experiences at a coffee shop. The interior is beautifully decorated and there is plenty of seating available, both inside & outside, for larger crowds. The baristas were very sweet and helpful, providing excellent customer service. It seems like they do seasonal menus in addition to their standard menu, very neat. My girlfriend and I’s lattes tasted amazing and rich in flavor. They even offer a food, alcohol, & sushi menu all in one place; how cool is that? I highly recommend checking out this spot. I will definitely be returning!

The food here was very tasty. The server who was cleaning the outdoor seating area was very friendly and even bought water of our pups.

I was impressed with their breakfast and desserts. They have a ton of choices including many gluten free plates. The staff is super friendly and the food was delicious. I cannot wait to go back. Update: went back this week for dinner yesterday, breakfast and dinner today and will be. Ack tomorrow for breakfast before heading back to NYC

Hudson’s is a gem of a restaurant located in the Heritage Village section of Southbury. It’s serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and each of these seating times offer yummy and satisfying selections. If you don’t see exactly what you’re craving, ask the owner/chef Roy and if he has the ingredients, he always try to accommodate (he has so many times for me). He will even throw out ideas he can whip up for you, many coming out of the seafood market he also owns, which is the freshest around (I am primarily pescatarian so I know the quality is excellent).

I eat here often and am never disappointed. The owner/chef is amazing at his craft. I could never stress enough how amazing a chef Roy is. Last night, I brought the burrata salad, french onion soup, grilled cheese, a rueben and the chicken pesto panini to a friend’s house and we feasted and incredibly happy! Tonight I will be back for an amazing seafood dinner and a bottle of wine. Yes…. It’s that good that I can go multiple days in a row.

Had breakfast here yesterday with my 18 month old toddler. He had the avocado toast and I had the breakfast tacos. Both were incredibly delicious. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Places to sit inside and out. Exceeded my expectations!

I try to come here as often as I can, great vibes, friendly staff. I love the food and I find the lavender cappuccino exceptional. Also great decor and super clean.

Hudson Cafe & Bistro has a cute vibe. The service is nice and helpful. They keep and eye and always ask if you need anything. The seating is good and there's a cozy couch to complete the cafe look. I recommend it!

My daughter & son-in-law took me here on Saint Patrick’s Day. We were so impressed by the amazing decor.
The menu was outstanding…so was the delicious food and dessert choices.

Outstanding food, easily the best tacos in the area and it's not even close. In addition, the falafel bowl is outstanding and I'm eager to try the new Hummus and Falafel restaurant next door from the same owner. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Hudson's and it is now our go to place to eat out. Really good, fresh food made with love. The only hiccup is their wait service as it can be a bit confusing as to whether you should order at the counter or not. The wait service should be removed entirely and a pickup system should be put in place. All in all though, the food is great!

Went on a Monday evening, ordered right away. My wife had a salad with grilled chicken, I ordered the gnocchi with bolognese sauce. Both were excellent. Staff is super friendly and attentive. NOTE that this is not a traditional server style restaurant, you order your food and they bring to your table. Followed dinner up with a piece of chocolate cake, and that was as good a piece of cake as I've ever had - texture was flawless, baked to perfection, and the perfect amount of frosting to complement the cake. It's so nice to have a casual dining option this convenient here in the Village that offers something more than just a sandwich.

5 stars aren't enough. I've been here for breakfast multiple times, always delicious. Came for dinner tonight and it's beyond amazing, food and staff! The pasta Bolognese is my new favorite dish, I'll be coming back for more. We also got french onion soup and the mushroom ravioli dish, so good!

I'm so glad a new place to get coffee and quick stuff is in town. They have plenty of options for your needs. The food looks amazing. My wife said it was very tasty. I just got a keto snack. The coffee was very good. Got a latte and could tell they get a quality bean from someone. Still new and still learning how to get the rhythm down. Overall the only thing that needs a buffer is wait.

Hudson's Cafe is a cute little cafe, breakfast and lunch place in Southbury. The staff was extremely friendly. Tori C. was our barista/waitress and was super friendly! The Breakfast bowl is definitely the best bang for your buck meal and did not disappoint with the display and flavors! The coffee was also delicious, the special that day was lavender and honey!

Went here for a second time on a Monday evening again. It looks like they've updated their process. While they invited us (and other guests as we were there) to sit wherever they wished, they do come to the table and take your order; and they bring your food to you when it is ready, in traditional table waiting format. I honestly didn't have an issue with the previous method of ordering at the counter and them bringing food over when ready, but there were several reviews commenting on that.

Again, the food preparation and presentation was excellent - had the chicken with fingerling potatoes, and my wife had the falafel. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the entire experience is refreshing. I find it a refreshing alternative to other options available locally. I've seen comments about the costs, but I don't find them to be out of line; you can easily spend as much at your local deli, Chipotle, or sandwich shop as you would for a meal here - and you simply can't get the quality and preparation that you find here at those places.

This place is a Hidden gem! Sometimes coffee shops can be a hit or miss. Their lattes and coffee are incredibly smooth and not overly sweet or bitter. They are also very consistent unlike the bigger coffee chains.

WOW!!!! This place has it all rustic decore, great staff friendly and motivated. Stopped in for coffee was blown away by the options blows Starbucks out of the water. And the food!! Oh my God I never write reviews but if you haven't had the food then this is the biggest hidden jem you will ever find. Definitely the best local business I've come across in a long time
