Good hometown vibes at this 90 year old bar at the top of a hill. Big Grove on draft and a sizeable food menu. Dad had the fried gizzards and I had a patty melt with onion rings. Great older bartender ladies that are sweet as can be. I’d come back for the pool tables and nuthin fancy attitude.

Awesome spot with an absolutely stunning view just outside. A perfect and beautiful 8mile bike ride from Solon too. Cash only so remember that, but they do have an ATM if needed.

Chicken sandwich and fries were tasty and the bartender and servers were great. Fun place to watch NCAA tournaments!

This place has been a staple in the iowa city area as long as I can remember. It's the kind of bar where, if you're local you'll know someone there. Juke box, pool, arcade games. The staff is always friendly and fast. Always a good time!

Nice little bar, very friendly staff. It reminds me of a little hometown bar. Not a big city bar which is great. Food was awesome and everything was decent price.

The atmosphere isn't for everyone, but is a great, historical location. Drinks are great and food is delicious.

Excellent food as always! If you are thinking standard bar food, think again! The leafy green lettuce in their robust salads are amazing and my favorite is taco salad. Or chicken salad. Or taco salad.. can’t decide. We did eat something fried today.. chicken livers. YUM!

Food is mostly typical fried bar food with great daily specials and awesome soups and chili. Cookies are the best in town and the staff is incomparable.

Love this place. Great social distancing practices in place. Last time I was here they didn't take cards, now they do. How 21st Century! Wonderful wings by the pound - served hot with nice sauces that compliment the wings not overwhelm.

Bartender was incredible. Sorry, I forgot to ask his name. Guess I will have to go back to find out. I live across state, my kids live here. For me, this IS a destination spot. Make it yours too.

Tables seats a total of 30, bar seats 7. Located near Hy-Vee + gas + Super charger (Tesla). Waitstaff super nice! 1/3 capacity Monday @ 1pm.
It could use a spruce up but is a classic 'dive bar' (in a positive way). Restroom doors are difficult to close/lock.

We love this place, and we aren't even Hawkeye fans. They have great burgers and chicken gizzards! The service is always great! We drive up to Trader Joe's from Orion, IL and this is our first stop.

Still some of the best lunch food in Iowa City! Great BLTs.

Stopped here while my car was charging across the street and I recommend this for anyone waiting like I did.

Great people working there. The kindest and friendliest staff around. Good beer selection and really good bar food. The crowd was also nice and welcoming to a stranger asking questions about the amenities there.

I imagine this is the #1 neighborhood spot. I’d move nearby just to frequent this place.

Hilltop is the best bar in Iowa City, the help is great, Linda the owner is an angel in disguise. The lunch specials come quick and are a great deal. Served with beautiful smiles. I recommend a generous tip. I do not work there or have any financial interest in the place.
