We spent a few days there during the blizzard in January as our daughter’s wedding was close by in Boone.
Thank you for letting us invade your lobby, conference room and working with us over and over to find and cancel rooms as our plans changed with the weather. Thank you for making a special lunch menu just so we could eat during the storm and sharing your calm demeanor as we changed our plans over and over and over again. Thanks for extending grace and sharing your hospitality. You made our blizzard wedding weekend so much more comfortable! If we need to stay in the Ames area again, I know where it will be.

What could have been an incredibly stressful weekend turned out perfect thanks to your help. The little things go a long way and we appreciate you.

Great room, clean and large. The front desk always greeted me and took care of my needs. Gym could use an update but overall had a wonderful stay. The salmon from the kitchen was excellent 👌

Paid almost $150.00 for our room, got up for breakfast, and got charged $9.99 for each adult and $5.00 for children under 10. Was not expecting that one! Our shower/tub would not drain, so u stood im the dirty water while showering. It appears the tub was painted as the paint was coming off while trying to rinse it out. Was too late to call the desk for maintenance.

Cozy, good service, public transportation, and a few eateries in proximity make this my go-to hotel spot in Ames.

Very clean, nice rooms, great staff. Even the men's restroom is nice and clean. Edit to add, my review was 2 years ago. We stayed here this year and it was no where near as nice this time.
DO NOT EAT SUPPER HERE! We waited over an hour, food was cold and not good, somehow they ran out of burgers.
Breakfast was great, but they ran out of regular coffee and only had decaf left.

I was welcomed by the manager of the hotel, Tomas, personally and all the staff were exceptional! The rooms were spotlessly clean and the hotel had the ambiance of a fancy boutique hotel. This place was truly a home away from home!

Stayed for Thanksgiving Dinner at Ames location. The master chef Megan was fantastic and the meal was superb. Hand crafted, the best turkey and sides ever and the deserts were home cooking. Great Iowa charm. Planning for next year-please keep it a secret:)

We had over 50 people staying in various rooms for our daughter's wedding. We loved everything about this hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. The employees were kind, courteous, helpful and personable. Liz and Nick at the front desk, Chris on the phone, the great people at breakfast the next morning, were all well trained and nice! Thank you Hilton Garden Inn for being part of our great weekend!

Great location. Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Have stayed multiple times and have found nothing to complain about. They have been flexible with policy when I checked in really early. It was appreciated after two flights and the need to get work done.

An omelet for breakfast and some coffee in the restaurant is a great way to start the day. Beds are comfortable and Internet coverage is everywhere I needed. My go to hotel when traveling to Ames.

I am giving a 5 Star review despite having the worst night sleep I've had in a long time.

Upon arrival, the grounds, interior, hallways, and our room were very clean, modern, and well kept up. First impression was fantastic. Our room was hot, but after a full day of mental anguish (we were there for emergency veterinarian care), our entire family was exhausted and we simply reduced the thermostat and went to bed. Throughout the night, the fan was extremely loud and the temp fluctuated between desert and walk in cooler. Earplugs didn't help with the fan noise, but the problem was it wasn't on constantly so we didn't get "used to it".

At checkout, we mentioned the fan to the front desk, and were made aware we should have called in the night and they would have gladly switched our rooms. The front desk person delivered this message very skillfully, as it was received as more of a disappointment the hotel missed on an opportunity to make things right, rather than making me feel foolish for not taking that action.

The manager (Initials MG) happened to be there, and struck up a friendly conversation with my family and me. This man was born for hotel management. I had observed him conversing with many guests that morning, and when he spoke with us, he demonstrated a genuine interest in our story (where we were from, why we were in Ames, etc). Anyone can be "nice", but this level of genuine interest can't be taught, you either have it, or you don't.

He offered to knock down our rate for the fan. I was expecting $20/$30 bucks or so, as I'm aware the hotel industry is struggling with the pandemic. When he offered to meet us half way, I was floored. In hindsight, it was absolutely the right move (remember, I mentioned he is born for hotel management), but in the moment it had a significant "wow" effect.

Should we find ourselves in Ames again, this is our place. I will also be advising traveling colleagues about my experience here.

Note: I learned something about the window heating/cooling systems found in many hotel rooms. When the weather gets extremely cold like it has been, they can knock out of calibration resulting in "weird" temps and excessive noise. Sounds like its fairly common, so it's not out of line to ask to be moved.

Our family had a great stay. Staff is very friendly and the rooms have an innovative design with charging stations with USB ports on desk and nightstand. It has adequate wireless Internet, TV, fridge, hairdryer, etc. It was easy to get in and out. The room was very clean. They have a good breakfast, but it is not included in the room price. We have kids attending Iowa State and we live out of state. We plan to stay here in the future.

I have stayed here several times and each time the customer service is outstanding. The hotel is clean, modern, many amenities including bar and grill. Tomas Romero at the front desk is the star of the operation and goes above and beyond any expectation of professionalism. Thank you to the staff.

I appreciated the extra water in the fridge. The bed was comfortable. Staff was on it all the time. Wish there was better parking for large vehicles, but you can't have everything. 😁

What a wonderful place to stay! The staff are amazing! Professional while making you feel at home. The front desk staff (Tina and a young gentleman) were very accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We will be staying here again. Thank you!

Rooms are spotless, roomy and quiet.
