Joe's Place

Joe's Place is a favorite destination for many people who want great food and drinks. I joined a group on the rooftop patio for an event in June 2023. Great service. Enjoyable venue.

It’s a place where you could spend your free afternoon with friends. Pool games, drinks, and finger foods! We can find these all here. The music selection is good - not too loud & not too slow. You do not need to shout when talking to friends. Nice place!

Great friendly place even for non Iowa fans

I always have a good time at Joe’s, but especially when Sam is working. She is such a sweet and attentive server. Love that I have a bar where I feel safe and comfortable by myself as a young woman. Bar staff is excellent, and I always take people here from out of town! Love Joe’s and love Sam!

The rooftop is beautiful and Stacy is an excellent server. We stopped in over the weekend for a drink, and while I was not sure if this place served wine, they do! The red blend- Mancan was pretty good, and I have no complaints.

Our go-to spot for drinks and friends. Their patio is where we like to hang out, but the rooftop is always a nice change. The food is pretty good for bar food and you can’t beat those deals! The cheesy pizza sticks are the bomb! Best of all - THE STAFF! We have genuinely had the most wonderful times interacting and hanging out with the staff at Joes Place, friendly bartenders and waiters, knowledgeable staff overall and just a great place to casually hang out. Bike friendly 🚴🏼‍♀ With places to lock up right out front! Free popcorn, darts and pool available for some change and sometimes you can bring your dog! 🐕

I think this place is a nice spot in Iowa City to hang out. It's a chill atmosphere. They have darts, pool, and it's a good break from some of the clubs around town. I love the relaxed vibe it has. Staff is great! It's such a great place to be. Really fun spot. I highly recommend going here to just grab a drink, food, play a few bar games, and unwind with some friends.

One of my all time favorite bars in Iowa City.

One of the better bars for larger groups, it has lots of space to wander and chat. Not as popular with the younger college students so it can be a great place for a more laid back outing. Not a loud music and dance floor kind of place.

A good, low-key place to sit and talk to friends. Good chicken tenders and Tots, free popcorn, and rooftop open during nice weather!

I like the dark, casual indoor bar. Love the hip, sunlight rooftop bar. Beer selection is just okay here- more focused on domestics. This is a good place to tie one on at an affordable price. Stop here if you're wondering where to visit in Iowa City- you wont be disappointed no matter what you're looking for.

This is my third year out here at Iowa, and I am pretty impressed with this little pizza joint! It provides unique quality thin crust personal pizzas that are cooked in about five minutes. You can create your own pizza, but there are also pretty cool options like honey ham pizza. It's great for students who want their pizza fix, but can't wait half an hour for a pizza.

This place is truly a wonder. From the incredible staff to the perfect ambiance, they have something for everyone... including a roof top patio or a ground level patio!! Perfect bar all year round! Go check them out once social distancing is over and CELEBRATE!

Rooftop bar and patio is awesome but has a capacity. The crowd is a great mix of many types and ages. Pool tables, darts. A good spot as an alternate to the college age hot spots.

The roof top patio was very nice. Busy but not overly crowded. Walk up bar seemed to stay on top of drink orders. Easy access to restrooms from the roof top was nice.

+Super staff: Pro Bar Magicians, Servers are smart prompt to meet you and get what youd like no prob if specific, Cooks make hot tastly food fast and hi-tech! +Best AC downtown. go for the ac stay for the hospitality. Very spacious, 3 sections downstairs each could fit a small bar inside it. +Padio also spacious. and I haven't been upstairs yet it's new and popular. I've been their recently Id say they get an A+ in regards to covid-19 safety for staff & patrons. Before covid-19 I Loved the AC wowed by bar tender magic appreciated that after 4 I could chill in their patio with friends or just to meditate either way a friendly hosting engineer would actually ask what I'd like to order and hand it to me. Thats worth a proper tip aka gratuity to me. and now they got wireless your food is ready gizmos... ✌

Joe's Place is my favorite bar in IC. Yeah it gets packed just like all the other bars, but it's got wood all around and it has that rustic feel when it's not too packed. Plus, chemists like me have been coming there for forever!

Joe's is ALWAYS a solid choice if you're going out!

Casual drinks, private parties, large groups, or if you just came to watch a game on TV... You can totally make yourself at home.

The service, staff, the drinks (and, of course the FREE POPCORN) is always fantastic. Can't go wrong with a night off at Joe's Place.

The only bar that I will go to. If you haven't had an egg bomb, go do it. Now. The only bad thing is that they cut my buddy off after he had 11 egg bombs in one night. Other than that, this place is fantastic.
