The Cave DSM

I love this place. Natural wines from all over the world including places like Pakistan, or Lebanon. Wines made with organic grapes, naturally occurring yeasts and not much else. Always a great rotating beer selection as well. Nick is a wealth of information, if you really want to know more about what you’re drinking.
The environment is chill and it is not a place that looks to turn over tables. You can stay as long as you’d like and the music is always good. I always tell people that if I were in school, it is where I would choose to study.

Went there to see a friend performing in the night's band. Great atmosphere and friendly service. We are still adjusting to the cost of living increase to the Des Moines area from Dubuque and the cost of wine is no exception. But you definitely get your money's worth with their snack menu, both in food quality and portion size. We will undoubtedly be back!

LOVE the Cave! We just had the most enjoyable afternoon there, listening to some Brazilian music! And we had a very nice cheese plate to nibble with wine that we can't find anywhere else in Des Moines. We'll be back!

A wonderful little cozy wine bar. With a great staff, the food is good, and the wine selection has some hidden gems you won't find anywhere else. The the background sound track is supplied though a excellent sound system with vinyl records. All this plus Live Jazz!

What a cute hidden spot for great wine in Des Moines! The owners were working and it wasn't too busy so they got to chat with us about their wine, and the are clearly passionate and knowledgeable about what they are doing. Every thing we ate and drank was good to very good. I love little gems like this place run by amazing friendly owners! And there really is something for everyone here.

The cave is an excellent local establishment specializing in natural wines, I had the pleasure of stopping in to try an "orange wine" today which was excellent. Nick, the owner, was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. He helped me make a selection from their impressive collection of worldwide natural wines.

They have a nice varied menu with small bites and serve larger meals on Fridays as well. Additionally there is excellent live music often.

If you're into natural wines, or just like wine, or even a cheese plate and some excellent jazz on vinyl, stop on in!

I recently had the pleasure of revisiting. If anything the selection is larger, and my experience even better than before. Strongly recommended.

The Cave is such a lovely place! My friends and I got to meet the owner and he was so sweet! My friends and I needed a place to sit for a bit because we were overstimulated, and the owner was generous enough to open the place for us for a bit. The lighting is beautifully light with a romantic twist to it. The atmosphere made you feel right at home. My friends and I can’t drink wine yet but we all agreed that it is what a perfect date would be located at. The music, the walls, the art, the hospitality, the soothing home-like feel!! I am amazed at how wonderful the place is! 10/5 stars! I highly recommend this place. It is truly a hidden gem in Des Moines.

Everything about this place is pure bliss! The bread alone is worth selling your soul for! Beautiful choices of wine too!

The Cave is the kind of place you can go to after work and let the dust settle. They have an excellent selection of organic wines, and the food is a perfect touch to go with it. The owners are absolutely amazing. As the saying goes, do something you love and you will never work a day in your life. That is the kind of passion you will find here. I can not leave this review without mentioning that if you love Jazz then this is also a great spot for you. Live music is a HUGE attraction in Des Moines and this is a great spot to find some amazing live Jazz with fantastic musicians. I live in Lincoln Nebraska, and anytime I am in Des Moines this is a must go spot. See you soon!

Such an excellent place to drop into! I stumbled on it while visiting town and had a wonderful experience. The owner was more than happy to share his excellent wines and knowledge about them. I can't recommend it enough for either stopping by for a glass or taking home a few bottles (very reasonable prices). If you are in the area for a meal, I would highly recommend stopping by here for an aperitif or an after meal drink.

Great place for amazing natural wines and live music and some finger foods.

Nick the owner has a well curated wine menu. You can pick up a bottle and go or stay and hear some nice vinyl. Cheese and appetizers beautiful. We had olives and Marcona almonds. We took a bottle to go on his recommendation. Excellent taste. Highly recommend for a world travelled taste in a sweet little spot in DesMoines. Very reasonable priced as well. This is a local owned Natural wine bar.

Such a great gem for DSM! Wine ranging from dry to dessert fruit wine and prices very affordable and competitive. I love the selection of natural wines and am excited to see them grow and open up the shop more for tastings and food!

The Cave DSM is a Des Moines treasure. I've been a lot since I found the store a month ago. Nick has a unique selection of natural wines. I've really enjoyed getting to know Nick and am excited to continue to learn more about wine and have a curated natural experience via the Cave.

Great wine. Great vibes. Occasionally, on Sundays, someone will play a keytar through a straw. 10/10

An all around amazing place with enthusiastic, informative and friendly owners. A little gem in DSM for wine lovers who want a casual ambiance to sip on fine, unique and sophisticated wine.
P.s. the pickles are out of this world!

At first, the gentleman running the show came across as rude. However, as we were sitting there, he asked us questions and started a conversation with us that helped us relax. A cool, hip place. Oh. And the wine was good!

I had such a great time here. The owner is great and knows a lot about his wines. The prices and quality of the wines are also great. Will definitely go back.

Excellent, affordable variety of wines and the owner could speak to the taste and pairings for each and every one of them. I will be going back. Go support them! You will not be disappointed!

I got one of the best wines I’ve ever had here! The owner was very helpful in finding the right bottles for gifts also. Can’t wait to try more wines!
