Let's start with it's just a fun place. The staff are fun and enjoy what they do - because they genuinely look like they are having fun. The variety of items is staggering. From novelty memorabilia to clothes that reflect a progressive attitude. It's fun. It's fresh, and they stay contemporary about social issues.
They also allow dogs in the store. The tow levels and nooks and crannies allow for all sorts of different things. They have areas that are a playhouse for younger kids and a coloring nook.
The upstairs didn't have a way for the vertically challenged to look at the sparse,eclectic vintage clothing or ray gun collection.
However, if you're into Iowa or just want a good time perusing, start here.

Such a cool place! Multiple sections with themed shirts, stickers, and other items. Everything from sports to teachers. Clever one liners. We enjoyed the visit.

Man, what a cool freaking store! We stopped in here on our last day of our weekend trip to Des Moines and loved shopping around the store. We ended up with a a few Christmas presents (coozies, magnets) and grabbed one of their mystery bags! The mystery bag had two shirts, and some other fun goodies for a really great price. The store has a ton of shirts, stickers, magnets, coozies, stationary, and everything else you can think of. They have one of the bigger selections I've seen of specifically targeted merchandise: shirts for librarians, San Francisco 49ers fans, and even Kansas City stuff! The store has a ton of options for people of all backgrounds and is very inclusive. Such a great store, great message, and great company. Can't wait to come back!

If you live t-shirts with quirky saying, relevant social issues, or local specifically clothing and swag, Raygun is the place for you. Tons of cool designs available on shirts or stickers, there's also socks and post cards and books and other interesting objects. There's even a little kids playing nook in the back to keep the littles busy.

A really fun store full of midwest goodies in the East Village. Had a great time walking around and checking out the merch. Staff was very friendly. They have a cool kids play space and are dog friendly! Definitely worth a visit.

Our family has bought quite a few t-shirts, posters, and stickers from this store and it's always enjoyable to visit and have a laugh at some of the witty content.

Perfect place to get a good quality midwest t shirt. Friendly & helpful staff. It was difficult to relate to every phrase as a tourist. But the staff helped me pick some awsm merch with which i can enjoy iowa way better & even make some friends.

I love all the unique merchandise with local culture references! It’s always good for a laugh, and the shirts are cozy too! I plan on visiting on a semi regular basis (would more regularly if I wasn’t cheap and bought new shirts more regularly).

So many fun options in store to shop around. I've always has the best experience and customer service when ordering from here. I recently had a custom order completed as a gift before a trip. Went to pick up and item wasn't printed correctly. They re-did it in 15 minutes...can't beat that turnaround. Will definitely keep coming back for future purchases.

Love this store. Have several shirts and other items from here, plus I always get gifts for my family here. They also always seem to have some charitable fundraising for a variety of causes going on there. Yes it's woke merch with a leftist bias, yes I agree with their politics personally, but if you disagree with that viewpoint, just don't go there 🤷‍♀

We LOVED Raygun. My new in-laws recommended this as a fun place to get some merchandise that pokes a little fun/has a sense of humor about Iowa, Des Moines, and other Midwestern "fly-over" States (as Raygun lovingly calls them). I got some GREAT souvenirs and there were a ton of other cool things I wanted to take home. Their t-shirts seem to be their main attraction. They had some more tame sayings (I bought one that said "Iowa Until I Die-Owa") to funny ones about rivalries between Midwestern states, to one's that poke fun of classic Midwest things (like marshmallows in salad). They have a bunch of magnets, journals, stickers, keychains, etc at other price points as well. I usually have a hard time finding souvenirs but it was pretty quick for me to find something for everyone (and myself). This was SUCH a fun place and they even had a pretty decent little coffee shop attached for some refreshment. I liked it so much I might look for gifts on their online site in the future. If you like to grab trinkets or shirts on your travles, don't leave Des Moines without visiting!

Found this brand on a visit to family in Iowa been a subscriber ever since. The current climate of hate in this county is awful. (I live in FL) Thank you Raygun for bringing the love to support all walks of life & bringing the extra hate to the forefront in a comedic way. It lessens the daily blow and the weight of the hate that is suffocating us. ❤💙💜

Definitely the greatest store in the universe! I have an extensive collection of T-shirts from the past 12 years. You can always find a gift for anyone and I love to browse the shop and laugh. Their online ordering and pick up option has been awesome during Covid. I love everything they do and I’m wearing one of my favorite shirts from them as I type this.

Iconic Iowa chain with fun t-shirts and knick knacks. Good place for state pride, LGBTQ pride, liberal gear that supports public schools, journalism and other causes.

From the witty humor on the merchandise to the high-quality locally-printed shirts to the friendly staff, this is truly the "greatest store in the universe." The space has a good vibe and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend.
