Hamilton's Funeral Home

My dad passed away on August 2nd at home. The two men that came to transfer him were both incredibly kind and respectful as it was very hard for my family, especially my mom to let him go. They allowed us time to say our goodbyes and allow even his grandchildren to say their goodbyes without making us feel rushed. The next day when we went to sign all the paperwork and say our final goodbyes before he was cremated everyone was so kind and sympathetic. They gave us as much time as we needed and the woman that works there even printed off several photos of his family to be cremated with him so he’d always know how loved he is. I wish I knew their names but with so much going on and all the emotions I unfortunately don’t remember, however I’m so thankful for their kindness and time they spent with my family and allowed us to have. The day we got my dads ashes back they also filled jewelry and a small urn with his ashes. I hope to never have to use them again, however I would always pick them to care for my loved ones again.

This place was amazing in the process of my dog. As painful as it was to put Kevin down, they picked him up from the pet hospital so we didn't have to transport him. That would have been very traumatizing for the kids! When Kevin was ready, they responded with... the cremation is done and Kevin is ready to go home. Saying it in that manner made me feel he was still here with us. We received a paw print, his hair piece, and a box plaque with his picture and dates of life.well and of course Kevin. The hole process was comfortable and no stress. And the price was cheaper then the pet hospital. Thank you Hamilton funeral home for making this comfortable for my family.

Our little baby passed very sadly away. Hamilton's made going through the process of making final arrangements as pleasant as I could have possibly imagined. Everyone was sympathetic and kind and professional. They truly made a tragic situation less stressful to my whole family. They truly have a gift and I would highly recommend them. God bless them all. And RIP baby Harper girl. We will see you again

I have had the opportunity to work with this organization and the terrific individuals who work there for quite a few years. They are the best, they are so personable and so great to work with. They truly go the extra mile to be sure everything is just perfect. Have had the opportunity to work with them when we had services for veterans remains who’s unclaimed cremains were found in funeral homes across Iowa. The services they provided to honor these veterans were perfect in every way and conducted so professional! ! I can’t say enough about how proud I am to be able to work with such a terrific group of individuals!!!!

The service was absolutely unmatched! Our family had to travel several hours to make the service for our loved one and the staff made everyone feel so welcomed and cared for. Some of our family members made seemingly odd requests, but it didn't seem to phase the staff at all. They went over and beyond to ensure the family said their goodbyes and got a moment of closure. They never made us feel rushed nor an inconvenience. It was just an absolutely amazing experience during such a difficult time.
I was also highly impressed with the presentation of the remains. Our loved one looked so handsomely peaceful and well groomed. You could just see the high level of care that was put into the service. So grateful!

My family has used Hamilton’s for over 100 years and will use them well into the future. As a cemetery sexton I can truly say that all the services we have been involved with are done with the upmost respect for the family during their grief. The staff is awesome!!!

Hamiltons was there very prompt when we needed them. They wanted the service to reflect on what my Son was about and wanted every detail to look perfect. Also, the viewing at Hamiltons was very personalized and gave us as much time as we needed. We heighy recommend them

Having worked with Hamilton’s Funeral Home from a cemetery point of view, they are always looking out for the family. They call right away to make the cemetery side go smooth for the family and the cemetery. They ensure there is a space and if not they start the process for the family.

These are the most wonderful and caring people I have ever had a chance to meet! I would have never been able to find my dear friend and arrange for his final resting place without them. Amazing service. Everyone was so kind, thoughtful and caring. They took such good care of my husband. I could not have been more pleased. The staff were so helpful and understanding through such a difficult week. My parents passed away when we were pretty young, and we knew nothing about planning a funeral. We also had some extenuating circumstances to consider, and 2 rather large families who detested each other to deal with. The gentleman who helped us was named Tom (but this was 20 years ago). He was the nicest, most calming and caring person, he almost took us by the hand and guided us through the whole process. We managed to do a decent service and the staff barely batted an eye even when the mourners began to fistfight. We weren't aware that people will often leave cards at the service with money and such, and they were honest and kind enough to collect them and give them to us at the end of the service. I will be eternally grateful for their support.

I had my rabbit cremated here. Hamilton's offered to come pick up my pet from my home and were extremely accommodating and professional. They also prepared a paw print mold and hair clipping, along with the beautiful urn, for a very affordable price. They did a wonderful job honoring my pet.

Friendly staff. They allowed our loved ones dogs to attend the visitation and roam freely among the guests. Which helped to ease the pain. Thank you for understanding pets are family too. Great job Hamilton's.

I have had several family members funerals through Hamilton’s. With each of them the entire staff was a blessing.
Jamie Caes was an absolute rockstar with both my father, and grandfather’s funerals. They were only 9 months apart.
Scott Erickson was very knowledgeable, and price conscious when I preplanned both my grandparents services.
Chuck was amazing at my grandfather’s service, he presented the American flag to my grandmother. To this day it means the world to her.
I truly wish I could remember each staff members name. If I could give 10 stars I would!

Hamilton's went above and beyond to make sure that family could be accomidated in a short window of time. Morgan jumped throw every hoop possible in a busy time to allow us to plan a ceremony without delay. Jaime C. was amazingly patient through out the whole process, especially with dealing post memorial questions. John J. and his crew made the memorial not only special, but stress free for the family. Hamilton is the only funeral home I have ever attended a funeral at. All family and friends choose them. Even myself, when my son died, went to the people at Hamilton to guide me through it all. They are kind, considerate and lead people through the necessary process as gently as possible. I am glad Des Moines has had such a honest and reliable funeral home for as long as I can remember..

Best funeral home i have ever been to. they were so kind and showed so much love and compassion towards my husband and i lost our 2 month old son. thank you for everything you have done. they even got me a new garden dancer when someone stole it from my sons grave FOR FREE!!!!!. AMAZING JOB
