Big Tomato Pizza

Great late night spot if you want to pick up a slice! If I end up on Ingersoll I'll usually stop here at the end of the night. They didn't have any slices ready Tuesday evening but they were nice and made a pizza with toppings we wanted so we could grab some slices after checking out a few shops. I'm sure they had no issues selling the rest. Their pizza is the bomb! My first time having it was after suffering COVID in early 2021. Let me tell you, it was magic after having lost my smell and taste. Maybe it's what brought it back! I'll always have love for this place! There's a few seats inside but we usually just grab a slice and go. Love the staff here! But, the pizza, is the main reason I keep coming back. Perfect crust, just enough sauce, great flavor combos...A++

This place is definitely not for the faint of heart, the owner and the employees seem to be unapologetically themselves. For me, I value that because a happy business owner creates the best for his clients.
That being said, we got out of a concert around midnight, and the only place open was this little gem.
Their pizza menu is pretty straightforward. We decided on the big tomato pizza and we were not disappointed.
Got a few music tips and an awesome experience at the end of it. Definitely worth a midnight run.

A unique late night Des Moines tradition. Know for their late night pizza by the slice. One of the first in the area to offer unique pizza topping. Whole pizza's available - but to order earlier in the evening. It is known to be a busy place late.

Probably the best pizza around downtown Des Moines if not the entire city. Had not been here since nursing school in 2005. Very happy we decided to stop for lunch after my brother picked me up from the airport. Still reasonably priced and made to order. Thin crust is the best in my opinion. Support local!!

Food is delicious, definitely the best pizza I've had for near the same price you'll pay for dominoes now. Service is great, I really like that they are not forced to be happy like so many other food industries, having worked in fast food before, I definitely understand how awful it is to suck up to bad customers. The attitude of the employees is good as long as you're a decent person. And the interior looks cool with good music. All around 5/5 and I definitely recommend.

Go here. Had the garlic honey Alfredo pizza! So good my daughter and I each ate a piece straight out of the box on the hood of her Subaru. Will be going back.

This place is the absolute best. Everything is always delicious and every person I've met working there is super nice. I have been eating here for years and that won't change. The best pizza in the city.

Very good pizza and the woman who helped take our order was the bomb. Even walked out our pizza when we choose to wait outside in our car! Props to you as sometimes the customer service can be not so personable but its expected and understandable with the late night crowd you can sometimes come by.

Scored a decked out pizza with the works from a non pick up order at a discount. And they also hooked us up with extra slices, nice hard working crew.

Pizza was really great and worth the wait. We ordered 1/2 potato and onion ring, 1/2 chili dog pizza, and a 4 cheese pizza. I wish parking was better in the area because there are some really great places. We were lucky to find a spot. $2 delivery and tip would be worth it when we try more, but I would also like to go after 10pm to buy a slice.

Had the combination pizza. It was fantastic. Waited at the yacht club next door for it and the gal working even delivered it!

This place is the best pizza in Des Moines. The sauce is fantastic and they have some great ingredients for crazy delicious combos like honey garlic jalapeno.

They sell by the slice late as well!

We have had a BAD experience with Big Tomatoe! 3 nights ago, we had a pizza delivered and I gave the driver a $10 tip. It was not edible, real mushy. Then, an employee was understanding and offered us a free pizza, so today I ordered one. One and a half hours later, it wasn't here. I called and the "owner" said it was written down as a pick up. He said he would personally get a pizza made quickly and send it out. Over an hour later, I called again and they still thought it was for pick up. I told them what they can do with that pizza. I would never go to them again. I don't know how they operate this way. Poor customer service!

We've now ordered for delivery 3 times from Big Tomato and HANDS DOWN THE BEST PIZZA I've ever had! I always get stomach aches after eating pizza, but NOT with Big Tomato's pizza and I'm SO happy to find this out because I LOVE PIZZA! My favorite is their gluten free tomato, basil, and mazzerella cheese!!!! It's to die for!! I have had 4-5 flavors and there all amazing!!!

This is the best pizza in Des Moines. I've tried the fancy places. Not impressed. Big Tomato is the original and they've been killin it before all the trendy places opened and they'll still be killing it when they close and when the AI takes over the world and enslaves the human race? Yup still killing it. Robots gotta eat.

Love the food love the banter and Convo with the employees best local pizza period . And open late when the only gas station or food place besides QuikTrip closes .
