A fun, uniquely decorated place that has great food and friendly service! The Cuban is pretty good, and not heavy on the bread. Thats a positive in my mind- better tasting meats and pickle spear with a tasty mustard that isn’t overwhelming. Has a patio for when the heat’s out, and nice, quaint indoor seating until then. The art is fun to look at. Humidor with cigars available too. Can you find Bigfoot?

Super cool spot we always meant to try but couldn't. Very nice decor & layout. We took advantage of the Mojito special. We also had Yuca fries, Cubano, Pan con Lechon, Ropa Vieja & Flan

If you want an authentic Cuban sandwich, then this is your place. Even the rice and beans were delicious. Love the atmosphere but AC was not working and it was a tad stuffy. Nonetheless I’d come back again.

If you’re a paella lover, like us, check out Ceviche’s Cuban seafood (or vegan) paella! Tuesdays is a $10 special on paella. It was delicious, so much so that we ordered 4 of them. Different than a Spanish paella (not in concept but overall flavor), but still amazing. Served with awesomely seasoned plantains and bread slices, plump shrimp and a mix of other seafoods, this dish was fantastic. Definitely something worth not skipping out on, and would be great as take out, too.

Ropa Vieja: shredded beef and vegetables was very flavorful. Hard to beat the paella but we still loved it and all tried a bite. Flavor was on point.

Diablo Shrimp: spicy shrimp with tons of capers, if I could combine this with the paella I would be in heaven. Very different flavors, but the diablo shrimp was sooooooo good.

The latter two dishes came with an option of rice and beans or a salad. We opted for salad but they both came with rice and beans. No worries, a salad was brought out anyhow, which I loved but the others did not; tons of green olives, onions, avocados and peppers, this was definitely a “Jessica-style salad”!

Espresso martini was awesome. Really really good (wasn’t mine but I tried a sip and it was fab).

We don't get here enough! Today was National Margarita Day so we had two for one margaritas. Also on Thursdays they have a special lobster roll and it is delicious. They fly the lobsters in from Maine. I had a steak sandwich which might be moving past the cubano I always have. Love it especially when the tiny patio is open!

Oh my goodness!!!!! The food and the atmosphere are great. Jackie is awesome. We started off with tostones and stormy mule. I had the yuca and cabbage salad. My husband had the ceviche on tostones and Cuban bread. I will be going back before I leave Des Moines to have the vegan Paella. The service was great!!!! If you are in downtown Des Moines you have to go!!!!

Coming from Miami, very impressed with the quality of the food. Some things are weird, like putting cheese on pan con lechon, but I just ordered it without. Flavors hit well.

There’s also a very cool basement that’s worth checking out.

Pan con lechon: 8/10
Tostones: 6/10 a little too thin and soft
Moros: 8/10

After being treated poorly by service workers at another's bar, Cerviche bar opened their arms to our bachelorette party (with delicious pink drink shots!). Loved the atmosphere, location, and bartenders. Cute little spot for the girl gang!

This Cuban bar restaurant was chosen only because it was open on memorial day. We got lucky we stayed 2 1/2 hours had a beautiful little corner table with two other friends. One of us had to explain very particular dietary needs. The waitress was super and the cook also excellent! We loved our food and we enjoyed being inside. Certainly, we will be back and this time, it will be a choice rather than just because it was open on Memorial Day

Great service and a cozy interior. Also appreciated that they had a vegan menu! The vegan paella was delicious. Would def go back to order again or to try other vegan menu items.

Hidden gem in East Village Des Moines, IA. Friendly staff, great drink menu, and the food...oh man. I grew up in South Florida and since moving to the Midwest I've missed that Cuban flavor. Ceviche has flavor and flare.

We had the Ceviche and Plantains for our appitizers and Mojitos to start. The main course was a Cuban sandwich with black beans and rice. Switched my drinks to the Havana Mule. After dinner you can enjoy some Flan and a Cohiba on the patio next to some parakeets and a plastic flamingo. Great Salsa music was playing to help create the atmosphere. Bottom line two thumbs up.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere on the patio and friendly service from Jaelynn! She recommended the Cubano, which was excellent. The berry mojitos were also delicious, and the flamingo stir sticks added a fun touch. With ceviche, I prefer the fish cut smaller, but that’s just personal preference - the flavor was great! Will definitely be going back 😊
