Terra Lake

Nice place to walk with your dog, bike, and picnic. A number of shelters, restrooms too. There are kayak rentals, a playground, and lots of comfortable fishing spots too. Big space, so its easy to social distance without being antisocial.

Just finished taking family photos here in the wooded area. Once this park is completed I bet it will be an amazing gem of Des Moines metro. Can’t wait to return.

Love the trails here. Fun to bike, run, walk, and stroll. My boyfriend took me on a picnic here last week for our anniversary. Very easy to avoid people during the pandemic, but still people watch as they walk by, so that’s a plus. This picture is from this summer, on one of the trails nearby.

Great park with walking trails, playground for kids, nice shelter houses and fishing deck.

The playground area at Terra Lake is super! My 3-year-old and 1-year-old grandkids loved it. Lots of different areas for different ages and abilities to play on and explore with soft surfaces.

Building this park was a great investment by the city of Johnston. Beautiful place with something to do for all ages!

Terra Lake is a great spot to go on a walk, spend time with family, or relax while spending time in nature! :) The lake has been beautifully restored and provides a great experience for everyone!

Great park, tons of activities to entertain.

The City of Johnston has done a magnificent job in the renovation of this area. It's a beautiful park with plenty of paths to enjoy biking, walking, and running. I've enjoyed snowshoeing here in the winter. People gather here for family time, yoga, fishing, and they have a good size children's playground.

Great park in Johnston. Lots of trails and plenty of open fields. Decent sized pond that is stocked with fish - has a small area to put kayaks/canoes in, as well as a large dock for fishing. There are multiple picnic areas/tables, including a large covered area. There are restrooms on site, and a small playground area as well.

Very cool park, lots to do and nicely spread out. Says it's for 5-12 year old but our 4 year old had a blast. He absolutely loved the wild animal "tracks" that had been imprinted into the cement.

One of the City of Johnston's newest treasures. There is a six acre lake, that is stocked for fishing with a fishing pier, as well (no motorized boats allowed). There are nice trails that surround the lake, a nice modern playground, restrooms, a few shelters, and an large grassy area. A couple of the shelters are available to be rented.

Great hidden little pond in johnston! Well maintained, there's swings and stuff for kids. A fishing pier and what not. Highly recommend if you are looking to kill an hour or so and take a walk around a body of water!

Love the fishing another couple years and the fish will be mature. Lots of bass medium size, small bluegill and good size channel cat. Trail's are great good for walking or riding.
