Pagliai's Pizza

Saw they had deep dish pizza for a limited time and have been craving it after a trip to Chicago back in December & I had not been to Pagliais in a very long time. It was absolutely fantastic. Atmosphere is up beat and classy, staff is friendly and tentative and professional. Our bill was under $50 for 2 pops, 1 salad and a deep dish. Deep dishes obviously also take longer to cook but still was only around a half hour.

Side note: take scissors. The cheese pull is phenomenal on this pizza but I lost a soldier off the spatula trying to contain the cheese and you don’t want to waste a slice of this masterpiece like I did.

This was my 1st time here and everything was excellent. Wednesday's special was a 2 topping medium pizza for 12.99 so we got that and an order of cheese bread....both were awesome and we had some to take home.

We had an appetizer & pizza. Everything was awesome! We stepped outside our comfort zone & tried the pepperoni with pesto pizza. It was really tasty. Service was excellent & atmosphere was calm, but busy. Thanks for a great date night!!

This pizza is fantastic! The cheese bread is phenomenal. But what really sets this place apart is the service. It’s rare to see this level of commitment to customer service and providing the best experience. This place has earned my loyalty forever!

Best Deep Dish Pizza in Iowa! This pizzas has the best pizza sauce, six cups of cheese along with two toppings of choice: Italian sausage and olives. The staff was friendly and welcoming!

Pagliai's has the best thin crust pizza and red sauce! Our favorite is their pesto pepperoni pizza. The feta cheese and pesto is amazing combination. The pizza was not shown on menu but our server reassured us it was still in the system to order!! We forgot it had black olives on it which we wouldn't have opted out for but we definitely won't forget to mention next time. Don't forget there homemade ranch it is also amazing!

Pagliais has Always been one of my favorite pizza spots. I used to travel from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City to eat there on a regular basis. When I relocated to Des Moines and found out they were here as well, needless to say I was ecstatic. If you enjoy good pizza, Definitely try this place!

Pagliai’s is our favorite pizza restaurant in the Des Moines area. We live in western Iowa and travel frequently to eastern Iowa. This location is so convenient, just north of I80 on Merle Hay Road. The salads are great (they make two of the salad dressings in-house, ranch and parmesan peppercorn). The pizzas are piping hot fresh out of the oven, service is always good, and the prices are reasonable. Such a great restaurant!

Best pizza in town, especially love the taco! The food is always delicious, have never been disappointed in the years we've been dining here.

Easy online ordering - called to change time- staff was friendly and helpful. Food was ready in time and soo good- we had a custom pizza and they did great! I’m new to Iowa - my new favorite pizza!

This is a wonderful local restaurant. Pizzas have generous toppings and a zesty sauce. Plus, I can order them well done — I like pizzas with some crispness and color on top. The garlic cheese bread offers thick slices with plenty of cheese. An added bonus, both leftover pizza and cheese bread are tasty when cold. A win-win scenario.

Had delivery on a weeknight. Timing was spot on. Pizza phenomenal. Salad good. Service super nice.

I drove from Arizona just to eat here, by far the best pizza. The homemade sausage is amazing, cheese is perfect. Sauce is just right. Can’t go wrong with this pizza. Deep is my favorite but thin is just as good.

For more than 50 years my family has loved Pagliai’s Pizza across several locations in Iowa. We look forward to many more! Keep it excellent!

Consistently tasty, hot pizza. Love supporting the small business and the friendly staff. This place is our go-to pizza.

We were excited to see that Pag's is in Des Moines on our road trip. We loved the one at Carbondale, and this one doesn't disappoint. We got a great house spacial pan crust pizza and an order of ravioli, with some side salads. The service was great, the food was even better than we remembered, and and the price was right. We got in at a good time, as the place filled up quickly for dinner time on a Friday night.

I grew up visiting the Pagliai's location in Iowa City. It is hands down my favorite pizza place. The Iowa City and Johnston location uses the same recipes. I highly recommend a sausage pie with extra cheese.

After hearing about this place for years, I finally stopped in. They get bonus points for having anchovies and thin, crisp pizza crust - just like pizza used to be before the Deep Dish Invasion in the 80s ;-)
