Riverview Park

Amazing park completed in 2021-22. Built on the old Riverside Amusement park grounds. Tons of fun for ages 2-12ish. The playground surface is a very soft squishy rubber and Turf mix. The equipment is new and in amazing condition. Great for kids.

Great new park that has many options for inclusion for children with special needs. There is a merry-go-round that has space to roll in two wheel chairs. There are two bucket swings with pull down support braces and a zip line with a bucket swing. Several portions of the main climbing structure can also be accessed by children in mobility devices.

The paths in the park are made of smooth, wide sidewalks. The play areas have the thickest, most comfortable surface I've ever felt. There are lots of built in benches for parents to sit and watch kids play.

There is a section with some shading dedicated to smaller children that has rocking horses and spinning seats and a merry-go-round that is low to the ground for smaller children. There is another section that has musical instruments for the kids to play.

The park also has a huge, open green space and a large bandstand for cultural events.

I remember way way back in the day when it was an old amusement park they did an excellent job turning it into a nice park for kids and parents...hopefully it will stay that way!

Since the city, I'm conjunction with the Parks Area Foundation, completed the new playground and stage, Riverview is transformed.

While this was just an island where events were occasionally held, it now has a formal performing stage. This means that concerts and other events here don't rely entirely on someone bringing in off-site equipment, and that they have proper lighting and speakers.

The playground is fantastic, and even includes an area where handicapped or disabled children have interactive options designed for ease of use.

Overall, I highly recommend Riverview for events, or even just to take your kids to play.

We actually went to Norwalks ninja Park but ended here, this was way better! Loved it so much but there is lots of sun and little shade. So bring sun screen or choose a cooler day but so much fun!

The band was very fun and the weather was perfect! A great place to be on a Friday night!

A mix of the Northside Des Moines history of Riverview Amusement Park with new Riverview Parks inclusive playground with Riverview Amphitheater and bike/walk trails that also leads to McHenry Park up the hill. So much fun for kids and adults to enjoy together and share the past with the present and future. Way to go Northside Des Moines on such a wonderful addition to the already rich history in the community. I enjoy going there alone and with my family. The playground is designed to look like the amusement rides of the past with part of a rollercoaster tracks by the front entrance. The bridge has an amazing and cool entrance that lights up at night too.

The renovations here are GREAT. It's a fun, interactive park with playground attractions for kids that resemble the old amusement park that used to be on the land. The amphitheatre is an awesome spot for festivals or concerts.

First time at Riverview since the 70's. Shared this great place with my husband. I love the pictures displayed, sure does bring back a lot of wonderful memories. Thanks to the people that gave it a new life. 🏅💐

This place is beautiful, kid friendly, adult friendly, and very nostalgic of times past.

AMAZING Place! My daughter loves this park! It is so cool that they honored the amusement park that was previously here. They did a great job making all the fun inclusive for kids of all abilities! I love the accessibility of the different fun activities. The stage is beautiful and I'm sure events here are probably very fun!

This was a very cool park that did a great job paying homage to its amusement park past. It's good for an hour or two of play with kids. It also has interesting history to read about.

I sat out here with a good friend of mine his dog and my dog and had a great time. There was several people here but it wasn't crowded it was spaced out perfectly. We both enjoyed each other's company and watching the day turn into the night. It was pretty awesome.

I was born in 1972 and my sister in 1974 and my Parents took us. I still remember it and I'm 50 now. Time goes too fast. My parents are in their 60's and everyone is healthy think you Most High.

Great, except for Swan packaging dumping it's chemicals in the nearby pond

Really great park for little ones and adult and teens. It's a lot of fun and the musical parts are great and relaxing 😌. There are tons of trails near by too and a handicap portapotty which was great and actually not in horrible condition. There's even another park going up hill too. It's super fun and I love the theme, and the history is very interesting too!
