Štrbské Pleso

One of the most wonderful tarns in Slovakia, Štrbské pleso is easily accessible with TEŽ trains from Poprad or Cog railways from Štrba train station. There's a gravel path along the bank of the whole tarn with benches and bins. You can rent a boat or exercise on outdoor equipment, which is located around the walking trail. There are many picturesque spots with beautiful nature. The walk is not difficult and easily accessible even for small kids/parents with stroller.

Beautiful place, with lovely views. The walk around the lake is easy and mesmerizing. There are a lot of hiking trails starting from the lake, however, the weather was very bad so couldn’t hike maybe another reason to revisit the place.

You can spend here easily a whole day with the hike around the lake, boat ride, souvenir shopping and a restaurant or two. Additional hikes can be done from here, check the info center

One of the prettiest lakes I've ever seen in Europe. The way the impressive mountains grow out of this piece of beauty is stunning and leaves me speechless whenever I visit.

Easily accessible by road or train that comes once every hour at least. It is located at 1.320 meters above sea level, so expect snow for almost half of the year. It is particularly lovely though in the off season - if you come outside of the summer months you won't have to share it with huge crowds. During the summer the crowds are a bit much and parking is not always easy.

A number of great hiking trails start from here. Popradske pleso is a must-do. It doesn't lack restaurants either, though in my opinion accommodation is a bit scarce, which I always found weird.

One of the most iconic places in Tatras and Slovakia. Great place to start your mountain hikes. Beautiful in each season, I love the autumn look.

If you get there early in the morning, you will find it as very peaceful and calm place.

It's a very lovely lake, and it takes around 1-2 hours to go around it. There are few spots with activities for kids and you can also rent a boat (which we did). We enjoyed the views, the kids, however, felt it was a too long walk.

Amazing place to spend relaxing time, either with your friend or family. The air over here is very fresh and healthy (recommended if you have breathing / lung conditions), it is also a starting point for many most famous hikes in High Tatras (in Slovakia).
It may get very crowded especially at peak season, it is recommended to book your stay at least 3+ weeks ahead. There are several paid parking lots here (unless you book a stay with parking), and you can get here also by train.
Prices here are a lot higher than in towns further away from High Tatras (such as Poprad) , so if you want to save some money you can do your shopping there.

One of my most favourite places in Tatras with beautiful views of the lake and mountains in the background in every season and weather condition (of course if the visibility is good so you can actually see the mountains :D).

It is a starting point of some great hikes, but it you are not the person for a long hike, simple walk around the lake is amazing as well.

There are some good places to eat as well, I recommend Koliba Patria where I wwas satisfied every time and it is right by the lake.

Extremely beautiful place. You can walk around it in one hour max. From the below of the lake you can start trailing to the Tatra mountains

It is a very picturesque place with a very easy trail around the lake. The Tatra Mountains in the background are spectacular!

Lovely area for walking or running around the lake for all ages and physical condition, since the path is flat. You can rent a boat when weather allows, sit on wooden benches located everywhere or cross country skiing in winter. Suitable for strollers.

Beautiful place to visit. Extremely nice views, peaceful nature. Good paths and nice carved wooden statues etc. You can do boating here too. Family friendly.

Beautiful lake, with some areas flooded after nightly rainfall yet possible to navigate around them. Possible to complete full path around lake by foot and even with baby stroller. Many educational displays about history and wildlife. October onwards can be quite cold so wear warm clothing!!

The lake and surroundings are greatly beautiful. Don't hesitate to visit it! It's better to trip by your own car but the public transportation is good.

Basic place to visit in High Tatras, liked it, you can have a cute walk, a small picnic or a coffee on a terrace.

We came for the hike and the view. The day was beautiful, and we got it all.
