Tasquinha Vieira is a restaurant of nice architecture and a great place to have a special dinner. It only has a few tables in the front, but along a winding corridor you end up in a small open-air corner and a bar, very unique. The food comes in small portions, ideal to share several courses together. The price is rather high, but the food, the service and the special ambiente is absolutely worth it. You might have to consider a short waiting time if you have no reservation.

The food is marvellous, we had an excelente dinner accompanied by great service.
The restaurant is cozy and modern.
We loved that the food was elaborated with local products from the islands but the dishes had their own personality.
A gemme in Sao Miguel.

Go for the food. It’s Michelin quality. Go for an amazzzzzing dining experience.

Tiny place. Very intimate. Servers have their hands full and are less than kind at times - but who cares, they know their food and recos are spot on.

Do NOT go without a reservation. Countless people were turned away as we sat there.

This place is NOT to be missed!

Fresh, fresh, fresh local ingredients prepared in creative ways. It’s a small space so it fills up quickly after opening.

🌱 Fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
🎨 Creative menu. The deconstructed pumpkin ravioli is delicious.
🤝 Friendly, attentive service. English is spoken.
💎 A posh-er dining experience than what you’ll find at many of the restaurants in this area.

We went here over a year ago and I still dream about the local mushrooms dish that we ordered. Even my partner (who is not the biggest fan of mushrooms) still refers to them as the best mushrooms he ever had.

In addition to those, the other dishes we ordered were top notch and the staff ensured that we ordered a superior meal. Chef Joel was incredible and we loved chatting with him about his local and international inspirations from his day to day life and travels.

If you’re in Ponta Delgada, this place is a must go! While it was our priciest meal on the island, I would gladly go back in a heartbeat since it was well worth it!

Curry mussels were the best mussels I’ve ever had. The sauce that went with the clams were also phenomenal. I used bread to soak it all up! Definitely go early! By 7:30 they were full and turning tons of people away. Portions are quite small. They suggest 3 plates per person but I ate 5 if you include the bread 😆 I am a small human.

Stumbled upon this wonderful little restaurant one evening while traveling with friends. The host was welcoming, first giving us directions to a nearby destination, then accommodating a group of six without a reservation. We were seated in the beautiful wine cellar, which felt private and had a perfect view into the kitchen. Enjoyed the fermented bread, local cheese, and fresh fish offerings. The desserts were also jewels of flavor. Many thanks to Chef Joel and the staff [so embarrassed to have forgotten our waiter’s name!].

With an exceedingly skilled and attentive chef working alongside a concentrated bar and kitchen staff, this restaurant does the dining scene in the Azores justice.

If you’re looking for a place do you have a long drawn out dinner, talk to all kinds of tourists and locals, and have fun in a posh setting, this is the place to do it.

Be sure to speak with the host (who’s also the chef Joel Vieira), As he is full of knowledge about the land and farmers who help him craft his exceedingly delicious menu; he can also let you know about where to go and what to do no matter how much time you plan on spending on the island.

We shared six unique, enjoyable, starters with some excellent wine recommendations in this beautiful tasquinha. We went on the recommendation of a colleague and were honestly pretty blown away. Arrive early to beat the rush, when we showed up at 6:30 we were the first ones there and didn’t need a reservation. Highlight for me would be clams in wine, cream, and cilantro sauce, highlight for my partner would be coconut curry muscles. Great service and beautiful back garden with a second bar if you walk around the kitchen to the back.

Delightful experience! We had the tasting menu (35€ p.p.) composed by 2 appetizers, fish, meat and dessert: scrumptious!
The open kitchen allowed us to enjoy not only the food, but also the cooking process.
The staff was really friendly and were always paying attention to us.
A MUST in Ponta Delgada!!!

Excellent Restaurant with fine food and friendly staff. I had the tasting menu and really enjoyed it apart from the dessert. The beef with truffle mash was amazing. As for the desert when the waiter noticed we didn’t like it the chef sent out an alternative. That’s top class hospitality.

Bravo across the board. A tiny place with perfect ambiance of quality but low key. The kitchen is at the heart of the restaurant and open so that all guests can watch the chefs. And watch we did, it was a well run machine.

Our waiter/host gave epic wine recommendations and we got to taste some fabulous wines from the Azores. The menu was simple and to the point - every dish we had was surprising and delicious. All plates cost 12€; I did think some of the dishes weren’t worth that price. However, some dishes were worth more so it evened out in my mind.

All in all, laid back and stunning meal. I left happy, a little buzzed but not too full. Would love to go back.

I cannot recommend this place enough. 5 stars does not justify how incredible this restaurant is. The service is fantastic- each employee greeted us with such warmth when we waited for our table and throughout our meal. The food quality is fresh and perfectly paired. They recommend about 3 dishes per person since everything is tapas style. Most would think that the quantity of food would be too much, however, each dish is flavourful and light. We ordered the daily soup (this soup was delicious and should not be overlooked), bread (simple yet so fresh), curry muscles, the mushrooms and the 6hr roasted angus beef. Each dish sent us into a euphoric food experience. Will be recommending to friends visiting and worth a visit on your trip. Would suggest booking a few days in advance or wait it out in the queue with a glass of their local wine

Amazing service. Amazing food and Amazing wine. I hate to honestly tell anyone about this hidden gem that has limited seating and great azores beef slow cooked 6 hours. And deserts wow.

Eaten here twice in the last month. Relaxed atmosphere, modern but understated design. The owner (Joel - think I have that spelling right!), staff are very welcoming and genuinely friendly. The kitchen is in the middle so you can see all the preparations which I like. A small menu selection but high quality and everything super tasty! After being to many of the typical restaurants on the island, this was a highlight and different experience. Highly recommend visit!

Portions are small but the food is excellent. The limpets, tuna, and the desserts are all good to try - get a reservation to be assured of a table.

Possibly the best meal I've ever eaten. This place is spot on! Amazing flavour balance & wine pairing They don't take reservations (unlike everywhere else in Ponta Delgada) so get there by 7pm to avoid a long wait. For that special dinner in Azores come to this place!
