Beautiful place, well worth the visit.
So fresh, nature in its raw state.

There’s a “fountain” with running water that you can drink and it’s probably one of the best waters I’ve ever drank.

Located in the Serra da Estrela mountain range in Portugal, Poço do Inferno literally translates to "Hell's Well." Found at an altitude of 3,500 feet (1,080 meters), the water gets so cold in the winters that it literally freezes over, like hell.

Beautiful geologically interesting spot where a waterfall formed due to the presence of harder layers. A small round trip is possible. Parking available near waterfall.

Fantastic narrow, twisty roads leading up through the pine forest, perfect for adventure bike riding😎 Very little water flowing down the falls, but what do you expect on a hot August day!

Very nice place to visit and have a look at these rock rich beaches. You can easily get there by about 15 minutes walking from Cascais city center. The area might get risky so make sure to stay inside the designated areas by the municipality.

You can get there by car all the way to the water falls. I wish the road was one way (as it continue back to the starting point). The road is very narrow and go through a beautiful forest. We enjoyed both drove and visit.
You can use the stairs and get closer to the fall.
Plenty of parking about 30 meters before the falls. Near by table for a bring along meal.

Small pedestrian route. Beautiful but a little technical. If you're coming you cannot miss this one!

Waterfall and natural pool in a natural park.
It's worth a visit and a dive if you are into freezing water.

Great view and a excellent place to relax a bit before continuing to Serra da Estrela. In the summer is the place to relax.

Lovely little hike. Start is steep but the rest is pretty good. Loads of loose rocks at the beginning, but a very nice small hike.

I had the pleasure of visiting Poco do Inferno during my trip to Serra da Estrela and it was truly a magnificent experience. The waterfall descends a steep gorge of Ribeira de Lenadres and the sight of it was absolutely breathtaking, especially during spring. The lush evergreen forest that surrounds the falls adds to its natural beauty.

To get there from Manteigas, you will have to drive about 4km along the main road towards Torre, and turn left just beyond Caldas de Manteigas to climb a further 6km to the falls. The journey itself is enjoyable, as you get to drive through picturesque landscapes.

Upon reaching the falls, I was mesmerized by the sheer power and beauty of the water as it cascaded down the rocks. The natural flare bokeh created by the sun shining on the pine trees was a photographer's dream come true. The place is perfect for spending a couple of hours in nature, taking in the scenery and sounds of the waterfall.

Overall, I would highly recommend visiting Poco do Inferno in Serra da Estrela. It's an amazing natural wonder that should not be missed

Quite the ride to get there because of the small road, holes in the road and rocks on the track. But beautiful and adventurous to see. Several benches to pic-niq, some trails to track going up the hill. Vantage point views and nature all around. The waterfall is small but pretty, to get close on foot through the cut out of the rock trail of steps is adventurous and nice photo opportunity. Being in the middle of the hills is a unique experience.

Very nice spot. In walking distance from Mantegais. Several picnic tables, drinking water fountain. It has a parking. You can even swim in a little pool just under a waterfall. Nice views towards the valley.
