As they are famous for their dinner buffet, breakfast are equally best. Abalone porridge 😋

The lunch by the pool was wonderful, but recently, the satay has reduced size.

We only visited this hotel for the day. This is sister hotel of the one next door where we were staying.
Very beautiful grounds, lovely staff and great menus.
If you're not coming away with children, this is the better option of the two neighbouring hotels.

Very good 5 star hotel. We had issue on the room allocated to us when we booked room over the phone. Somehow, the man at the checking counter goes by the name Yusz was very helpful and sorted things out to our satisfaction. Would definitely comeback again.

Super nice place to spend your vacation! The resort and the food in the restaurants were great and very affordable. Staff was nice and polite. A big plus was a good gym and sauna! Deja Vu! After more than 30 years after my last visit, it was really good to be back, Thanks for preserving the 100+ years Flame of the Forest which I could easily associate and reminisce and so is the pool and the huge granite rocks near the water's edge.
The service was par excellence from the guards at the entrance to room service given by the staff.

Just returned from a wonderful 5 week holiday here thanks to the amazing staff, each one goes above and beyond to make it so special. There is nothing negative I could say this is a fabulous hotel, if you want a great holiday this is the place. Looking forward to returning next June.

My family and I had a wonderful time there and definitely we would love to come back again. Thank you for the surprise upgrade and we were definitely in awe with the spectacular view from our garden wing studio suite room. Wishing to be back there again in the future.

We stayed for 4 nights over the New Year period. The hotel is old but well maintained, our room in the Garden Wing was comfortable with a nice balcony overlooking the pool. Good quality toiletries and excellent water pressure in the shower.
The gardens are spectacular and this is probably one of the few hotels in the world where you can wake up at leisure and will always find where to sit. No need to reserve loungers as there are plenty! Breakfast gets very busy and you can see the management from every department in the hotel on the floor helping out and making sure breakfast runs like a well-oiled machine. Compliments to the team as it’s a pleasure to see everyone working together to deliver a great start to the day.
There are some areas that highlight the need of refurbishment or investment to bring back the luxury associated with the Shangri-La brand. However, the excellent level of service makes up for it.
Sharif attended our room 1312 impeccably, Latchu in the pool always made us feel welcome and even moved chairs on a very hot day so we could get a shady spot. Rosidi was very attentive during dinner time. Food & Beverage Director Derek personally took care of our reservation. Thank you all.
We attended the NYE dinner at Ferringhi Grill and countdown in the garden. It was the best organised events I’ve seen in a hotel for long time, the ambience of the restaurant was amazing, food was great and the entertainment and lighting was magical. What a fantastic way to celebrate the New Year! Overall, we had a very special stay and won’t hesitate to come back to Rasa Sayang if our travels bring us back to Penang.

The room card couldn't open the door, but the front desk staff quickly contacted the maintenance team, and they promptly resolved the issue. Very satisfied with the service! A wide variety of breakfast options, very happy. The stress from working during the vacation is all relieved, and even the physical pain is gone！

In my opinion...the best property in the Feringghi area in terms of lush greenery and peace and quiet. The resort leans more towards being family- oriented...but dont worry about crowds or noise - there is ample space on the expansive grounds where you can find a relaxing spot to unwind.

The level of service is extremely high. In my experience on two separate occasions, staff were friendly, attentive, and ever-willing to accomodate any (reasonable) requests. The property itself is not new and hardly modern (it is more of a classic aesthetic)...but facilities are properly maintained.

A note on the beach, though: much of the sand bank in front of the resort has been eroded by the sea - a problem also seen along most of the Ferringghi stretch. A plus point is its a bit more removed from the noisy vendors and water-sport operators.

In a nutshell...if you want excellent service...a good selection of food...and a lush green beachside resort, you cant go wrong with Rasa Sayang.

This resort and Spa is located directly on the beachshore. Beatiful Garden settings with rain trees more than 200 yesrs old. They form a natural canopy over the pool area.
This hotel has probably the best breakfast in South East Asia!

My family and I have just returned home after staying here from the 22nd to the 30th of Dec. I read many reviews before booking into the Rasa Sayang wing of the hotel. I have stayed in many hotels around the world like the Ritz in Paris, and in New York. What makes the Shangri La special, is its location next to the beach, the 30 acres of land surrounding it, which are lush with greenery, and the exceptional staff. Having been to Penang before, we did not do tours or exploring on this trip, but there is enough in the hotel itself to keep one occupied for a week. As we stayed in the Rasa Wing, we had the Afternoon Tea and evening Cocktails and Canapes most days. The food and the service at the lounge was exceptional. We were there over Christmas, which is a very busy time, but you still got individual attention. A special shout out to the staff, Ila, Azleena, and Nadia, whose attention and care, really made our time there very special. By our second day, they knew our names, preferences and their service was very memorable. Our rooms were taken care of by Momin whose daily greeting and attention to detail made a whole world of difference when you stay there for a week. We had breakfast both at the Ferringi Restaurant and the Spice Market, and again the food in both places was excellent. We had the Christmas Eve Buffet at Spice Market Restaurant, and it was huge- befitting a king and a glutton. On our wedding anniversary, we ate dinner at the Ferringi Restaurant and again, the food was perfectly cooked and that night, our waiter Mr. Safari was exceptional. I used the gym which is open 24 hours, the jacuzzi, and both the wet and dry sauna, almost every day. It was the holiday we needed, and we are grateful to all the staff and Mr Markus Christ (who, to my amazement was frequently there at the lounge to make sure everything was running shipshape). When we asked ourselves, would we go back, the answer was a resounding yes.

We stayed at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang for 3 nights in January and we had such a fantastic time. From the moment you step in to the lobby and check in, to the professionalism of the staff, the delicious buffet breakfast as the Spice Market Café, the swimming pools and the state of the art fitness centre...the list goes on! There are no negatives about this hotel and it's the perfect place to spend a few nights...or even a week or more. Thank you for making our stay in Penang a memorable one!
Top tip: choose a room in the Rasa Wing and enjoy the added exclusive benefits that come along with it (afternoon tea, happy hour, an exclusive adults only pool)

Great experience. We stay at the garden wing level 2, it’s lovely. Scenery is amazing. I just wish that we can get all the four rooms next to another but it’s just fine.
Everybody enjoy the stay and look forward to come back in the future.

Celebrated my birthday there last weekend and had an amazing time with the views, walks on the beach and the food! 😋 Would definitely go back again someday! ❤
