Tree Monkey

Definitely a great place for local and thai combination cuisine. I like the scenery so much that I hope I could bring all my loved one here. The food price is slightly high but it worth for the food quality. I like the thai steamed fish and the pineapple rice. The dining area is open air and can enjoy the fresh air and vibrance of the seaside. Fully mmersed and full indulgence in the mother nature. The entrance to the restaurant is quite subtle. Make sure you dont miss the location for the first timer.

A very distant restaurant, I know, but worth the travel for the experience.
It's a Thai-style restaurant, which you do need to walk up some incline and steps to get up there.

Decor - very rustic, themed more like a treehouse experience

View - on a bright sunny day, this place looks awesome, especially the sea view. Worry not of the sun, cuz the canopy here is sufficient, and the wind does blow by occasionally so it's nice and cool

Service - very friendly staffs. If want alterations to some of your dishes, like requesting your Pad Thai to not be too sweet, they'll happily arrange for it.

Food - looks awesome, taste very herbaceous as should for a Thai dish. I am personally much more drawn in to their starter-snacks, so packed with flavours.

Price - slightly pricey, but definitely worth it for it. The only thing that doesn't quite draw me in is the price of the drinks in general.

Extra - take a few more steps upwards, you'll come across a spice souvenir shop. Smell awesome in there

An excellent setting in the trees. Because you are above the traffic - you can’t really hear the cars. Tranquil and peaceful. We had an excellent Massiman curry - medium size. We ordered a rice and noodles and shared. The portions are large. This is not a food stall, so don’t expect food stall prices. We found it excellent value for the quality of the food.

You'll love this place if you enjoy being out in the nature. This restaurant is adjoining the Tropical Spice Garden (TSG) which is a perfect place to drop by for food after you've gone around TSG.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. They serve nice authentic Thai food with a pleasant view overlooking the Straits of Malacca. I was lucky enough to spot a group of dusky leaf monkey hanging around nearby.

Super nice place with sumptous Thai food. We tried the couple set & it has a lovely combination including a set of appetizer. Taste, view & friendly staff support. Really awesome. Reservation is preferred as it is usually almost full house. We booked a table overlooking the beautiful sea. 😇

I love the Tree Monkey. It is a very good and authentic Thai restaurant on Penang Island. I would say, if you like Thai food, it is really one of the hidden gems here on Penang.

We have been at the tree monkey several times. They have so many delicious dishes. We love the green and the yellow curry. The pandan chicken and the crispy fish.

The food there is delicious and they used very fresh ingredients. I really recommend the crispy fish, so delicious. They also offer Mango Sticky Rice and Coconut milk with water chestnuts and jackfruit.

They have one of the best Pinacolada on the Island. You get this Cocktail in a coconut, amazing.

The stuff is friendly and courteous. We always have very nice conversations and fun with the stuff there.

The Tree Money is located near Batu Ferringhi. You have to park beside the street or on the parking lots on the opposite side.
Then you have to climb a few steps. You mainly sit outside, but don't afraid about bad weather a part of the place is roofed.

BEST VIEW
If you go to the Tree Monkey you sit on a terrace next to the tree tops. You have a beautiful view to the sea and you can see the sunset.

Can't go wrong to have a great romantic dinner watching sunset. Bring your repellant, after all its the rainforest setting. Food portion good and taste excellent.

High rise open air seating viewing the sea and sunset. Good food. Cute monkeys running around trees, best to go at 5:45 pm to enjoy the sunset time and the night.

One of the best sea-front restaurants: peaceful, romantic and with excellent Thai food. Worth a dinner after visiting the tropical spice garden. Beautiful.

Very relaxed place to have meal, nice view, worth for money, reasonable price, good service, food are good too, will come always, highly recommend to everyone to come.

Beautiful place. Great Thai food. Doesn't leave you thirsty after eating. However, it's not going to be a friendly place for the elderlies to go as it requires a bit of steep walking and stairs climbing. Also a bit scary during wet days and the steps are very steep.

Some of if not the best Thai food I've had. Great tasting. Freshly cooked. Big selection. Brilliant and scenic location and even though not cheap cheap still great value when compared to elsewhere in the world. Will be back next time I visit even if it is a bit of a drive.

Lovely place, lazy cat, naughty monkey, delicious food & annoying mosquitoes . Best place to go in the afternoon or evening. Price not cheap, but authentic thai taste. U need to call for reservation, otherwise u will be like mine first time.... We once get kicked out.

Lovely romantic spot for a meal amongst nature. View of the Andaman Sea and greenery of the hills. Sea breeze blowing in your face, rustling of leaves everywhere. When dusk comes, the changing colours of sunset is amazing

Great ambience, food is good - Thai food, but definitely cooked to suit western palettes. The real winner is the view and surroundings. Awesome place for drinks and chill.

A restaurant with a beautiful view! Place is limited so make sure u come early when they open at 12 or to come not at the peak hour. They serve thai food, and the food is little bit on pricey side, but it is delicious! Anyway, such a nice place to go!

Was here at 5pm on a Thursday. Ordered a mix of Thai appetizers. Great food. Great ambience and service. The constant breeze blew all the stress of the day away. Good for family (with children), romantic couple evening or time-out alone.

We was here for our anniversary dinner. It was such a great place and they serve authentic Thai food. Their service is great too

Terrific Thai food in an amazing outdoor environment. I will visit this place on every trip to Penang.
