Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang

A really lovely stay with my family for the weekend. Check in was smooth and easy - we had to wait a little bit for one of the rooms to be ready but it wasn't an issue for us. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. We loved the pool area and splash pad for our young children. The beach was ok - a bit small and cramped but that's nothing you can really change! The beds were super comfy and our rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms felt a little bit tired and dated and we had some issues with water escaping from the shower.

Food at breakfast was great - brilliant selection and service was wonderful - especially from Jalita who was so kind and friendly!

I am very happy, stayed at Shangri La!The location of the hotel has a beautiful view looking towards the sea, and The place is outside the night market and has many eateries.. The pool and gym are great too!
Love how fun they are to set up a place for kids. the food is good from buffet style food during dinner and breakfast.
The service is excellent with very friendly and helpful staff especially Wind who has been very helpful during our stay so far.I would recommend coming to this place with family as their facilities and activities are more suitable for such groups.

The breakfast buffet was superb. Always refill and got variety of food to choose from.
The beach and the hotel is near. Got many activities too.
There are 4 type of pool if im not mistaken.
But the pool for kids and 1.2m depth for me needs more maintenance. A bit dirty.
And be careful when hit the beach. There are jelly fish. My kids got stung by the jelly fish 🥲

This hotel is curved so 50% of the rooms have a seat view and 50% look over the road, town and hills.
There is an extensive range of swimming pools ranging from children's paddling pools to an adult only pool. There's a water slide and splash zone. Definitely a great hotel for kids.
The pools operate between specific times and there's life guards and other staff who arrange water volleyball.
A large number of loungers and seating is present all served by food and beverage options.
The staff were all welcoming, friendly and happy to help.
To the front is a sandy public beach with various water sports available (but the hotel have their own as well).
Plenty of car parking and there's a bus stop right outside the hotel (George Town was about 2.75 MYR one way. Have the correct fare as you don't get change).

Those who wish to spend time in the pool especially for children, this is a perfect place to spend your holiday. The guards and workers work tirelessly to make sure the surroundings are safe and secure. The clean environment, cheerful and welcoming atmosphere makes the trip a great one and of course the sumptuous breakfast.

The location of this hotel is near to night market and shops. If you are hungry, worry not because there are plenty of restaurants and stalls nearby where the foods are tasty with affordable price! Then the staffs are all friendly. The foods served for breakfast are mouth-watering and they have variety of foods ranging from traditional to western as well as oriental. They also serve fresh juice

You can choose the room with bath tub / standing shower.
Great buffer spread for dinner & breakfast.
The dissapointing part only for the jammed that we have to get through to the hotel. We've been stucked for more than 1hour from Jalan Gurney to Batu Feringghi. It is advisable to reach the hotel before check-in time.
We definitely will choose this hotel as yearly family gathering in the future.

Nothing to comment as Golden Sand Resort been always my 2nd home whenever I come to Penang. The only reason I come back is because of the staff they are so friendly and they will always treat us like a family. I'm so really appreciate and thank them always

Excellent services. My daughter dropped her hard contact lens in the sink at midnight. The receptionist was helpful and sent a plumber to help us. We were able to recover the lens.

Been staying here for nearly a week and it has been a lovely stay so far. The location of the hotel has a beautiful view when looking out towards the sea, the food was great from a buffet style of food during both dinner and breakfast. However, if you are like me, wanting to eat lite then you can choose to order from the menu instead too. The service was great with very friendly and helpful staff members especially Wind providing assistance during our stay so far. The room is very spacious with plenty of room to move around and if that isn't enough a sea park for the kids to play or a long walk along the beach with plenty of sun depending on the season you come at. I would definitely come here again as the location is close to Gurney too, roughly 30 minutes by taxi, if you wish to go shopping or you can go to the local shops across the street as they have a wide variety of food selection too if you wish to try.

Loved everything about Golden Sands. Lovely friendly people, excellent service. My second time coming here and loved everything and every minute. Buffet is abundant in all kinds of foods , breads, cakes , drinks and coffee. Would come back in a heartbeat. Taxi service at your door lots of attractions to see and do. Very friendly people wherever you go. Pool area very safe for children as lifeguard are everywhere.

Return to nostalgic memory lane. First visit when I was 10 yrs old and at 51 now returning to an establishment still as good as Gold with NO regrets. Clean, bright, super friendly staff. Just see my pictures and videos..it will define it all. And if you are fortunate enough, you will be greeted by the lovely Ms. MOONISHA at the check-in lounge. All smiles, fast check-in process, super friendly, bubbly, and every bit welcoming. A gem indeed to the establishment. But of course, there are many other choices of hotels in Batu Ferringhi, but I highly and strongly recommend Golden Sands. Very reasonable price with all the amenities any guests could ask for. Kids will definitely have a wild time. Sea sports activities are available. Check them at the kiosk at the pool side. Unwind under the shades with a soothing message or foot reflexology by the beach front. Abundant beach chairs for your tanning pleasure. Will definitely and always return. Overall, I had a great stay at Golden Sands; staff was incredibly helpful, and the amenities were great. The room was wonderful, clean, and perfect to celebrate my anniversary weekend. Very friendly accommodating and helpful staff Moneesha(reception),Puventhiran(extremely helpful),Ranjit(Duty manager)Rohadzan (concierge) Babari (housekeeping). Every time I come over to Penang, Golden sands never failed to make our vacation a memorable one. My kids love this place so much.

Most Luxurious and Premium Beachfront family-friendly resort in Penang with great hospitality, Amazing  Location, great ambience, gorgeous vibes and best part of resort is we can enjoy Mesmerizing view of Sea right from our room and balcony. Resort has beautiful waterpark also where we can enjoy with our family and friends and spend some time with them. Such a great place to enjoy holidays with family ❤💯

Imo, if you on honeymoon or healing, this place is highly recommended. The eateries also across the road. Georgetown is quite far and traffic gonna take 30-40mins. So plan your travel. We mostly stay in the hotel.
Breakfast was variety and good.
However I feel their kids pool is bit small. Their adult pool is hugeee. ✨ ✨

I could say, so far this was one of the best 4 Stars rate Hotel that I've been staying for vacation. The services provided here was top notch and great ! All staff here were very friendly and helpful. Plus, they were so attentive and informative. Even though the location of this hotel is quite far from town/famous attraction, but this is the best location for a great stay ! This area also have new complex nearby called Feringghi Walk which have Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Family Mart, Zuss coffee. Even got Starbucks and McDonald as well. Also near to Hard Rock Cafe and got night market as well. Overall, I really enjoy spending time here. Thank you.

The hotel is kids oriented, full of activities for kids, adventure club is a must go. And I feel it has one of Shangri-La Asia’s steepest slides. The beach side activities are just a stone throw away. My kids enjoy the parasailing even though they aren’t 12. It’s a great experience for them as kids. The hotel staff are friendly, and always make it a point to be service and client orientated. I’m an avid Shang hotel stayer. The pricing is fairly affordable considering the quality and safety aspect. Your kids will sure enjoy themselves.
