I visited Pasar Ikan Bisik Kuala Muda Kedah and was amazed by the unique way of buying fresh seafood here. You have to whisper the price you want to offer to the fishermen, and if they agree, you can get the fish, shrimp, crab, or squid you want.

It was fun and exciting experience, but you have to be smart and know the market price of the seafood, or else you might end up paying more than you should. The seafood here is very fresh and delicious, and you can also find some local delicacies like laksa at the nearby stalls. I recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood and wants to try something different.

Upon agreeing the intended selling price, only then they will sell to the successfull buyers.

It is important that you have a little bit knowledge of retail price at the local fish market.

Do not rush as from time to time there will be more fish boats come to the jetty. Give a shot to whatever a reasonable price that you think. Who knows a windfall is on you.

A tradition that must b maintained. Every Penangnite must visit it at least once. Bring along a big plastic bag, an ice box, an some ice. My comment dont haggle when buying from kampong folks does not apply here. Fish photos next time.

Fresh seafood and nice view! Every fish here is very cheap and you can even nego with the fisherman who just caught them. Its a very fun and unique way to nego where you need to whisper your price to the fisherman.

Pasar Bisik Kuala Muda, Penaga, Seberang Perai Utara is located at the mouth of Sg. Muda. It was originally a fishing jetty as well as a fresh fish market.
Across the same river is Kuala Muda, Kedah Darul Aman.
The way of buying and selling in the whisper market for these two places is known in the same way of practice.

One thing that is unique and different from other markets in the country is because the way fish is bought in this market is whispered even under the supervision or attention of the government.

To buy fish or other catches from fishermen, the buyer must whisper to the seller/fisherman by offering a price commensurate with the amount of fish traded. The winner or the highest bid by the buyer in a whisper will be determined and kept secret by the seller/fisherman himself.
This way of buying and selling fish in whispers is known to be a tradition since decades ago.
During the Covid 19 pandemic where SOPs had to be adhered to the practice of whispering was not allowed at all until the seller put the price in writing like the normal market.
