Every thing here is just stunning! To be honest, I have never seen such a magnificent residential home in China. Everything is so well-preserved that it feels like time has stood still. The current owner still takes care of this residence, and inside, along with its intriguing architecture and beautiful interior, there are stunning pieces of furniture worth seeing. It's a part of Chinese history and represents the cultural wealth that the Chinese have created and preserved outside of China. The visit is consistently awe-inspiring and impressive. I was fortunate to meet the heir and current owner of the ancestral home and have a conversation with them. Such museum homes are quite common in Southeast Asia, especially in Malaysia. I hope to have the opportunity to visit and compare them with those in other places.

A must-go place if you're visiting Malacca. This place is so beautiful that it's hard to believe someone lived here 200 years ago.

There is a guided tour by staff, and self-guided tour by book. Unfortunately when we went there wasn't a guided tour, but the staff was very professional in briefing us before we enter.

The house is beautiful, most of the items here are original and really beautiful. Walking through, you feel like you've travelled back in time, just imagine what it was like to live here. The items are clean, refurbished, and it didn't feel like things were fake or replicas. Unfortunately too, we came at the wrong time of year as the kitchen was undergoing some restoring so we couldn't see it.

Highly recommended for history buffs, and also for the family to walk through history together.

1. Available in English and Chinese. No guided tour. They provide you with a booklet to read the history of house history.

2. It is an interesting place to learn more of baba and nyonya.

3. There's no AC btw but it's not too stuffy as there's fan in every room.

4. Would recommend to anyone who wanna know more of the culture.

This Baba Nyonya Museum is worth a visit! When you step inside, you will feel how the people lived in the olden days. If you have watched 小娘惹 from Mediacorp Singapore, you will know what I am saying! Besides, I personally love the British Architecture shophouse built within British Malaya era (now aka Malaysia and Singapore), stepping inside feels like travelling through time, it's not just an antique or a relic, it's our ancestor memories.

Their descendants have conserved and preserved the shophouse with their effort. Must visit to feel and experience the past!

Visiting the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum is an enriching experience that offers insight into the lives of wealthy Baba Nyonya people from a century ago. The meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship evident throughout the entire house left us in awe. The collections displayed inside the museum provided a fascinating glimpse into the culture and heritage of the Baba Nyonya community. However, the absence of a tour guide detracted from the experience as we were left wanting for more information about the premises. Nonetheless, despite this drawback, the museum is definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in delving into the rich history and traditions of the Baba Nyonya culture.

Built in 1896, this museum was home to 4 generations of Chinese Malays known as Baba-Nyonya. It is absolutely stunning and extremely well maintained.
Not to be missed when in Malacca.

A historical place must visit when you came to melaka.
The museum is nearby Jonker Walk melaka. So after visiting the museum you can Go straight ahead to the Jonker walk of melaka, very strategic. Inside this museum, you can learn & know more about the history of peranakan melaka. Please enjoy.

Very interesting visit, without a guide. Staff lend an explicative brochure wich you and there are some information on small boards here and there.
The old house is well restaured and the ancient furniture still look to wait for the owner's family.

I really enjoyed walking back in history at this house museum from an early Baba-Nyonya family from Malacca. The house is kept immaculate and the objects and many players give an idea of what life was back in the late XIX and early XX century in this city.

At the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum, I was captivated by the rich cultural similarities to Chinese heritage. Exploring the kitchen, I noticed familiar utensils and furnishings. It's a nostalgic journey that beautifully reminisces about the bygone era, offering a glimpse into the past that resonates deeply.

Excellent place to understand the rich history of the Baba Nonya culture and tradition. This tiny Museum takes you back in time. We were told that the Museum belongs to the 5th Generation! Everything is so detailed and well preserved.
This is also a famous spot for the famous Singaporean movie "The little Nonya" which was shot in this very place.
The 2 female staff in Kebaya (I think) were very knowledgeable and helpful. They gave us a brief about the place. Overall worth the visit!

There is also a tiny souvenir store when you exit the Museum.

If you’re a history/culture geek, this museum is a must on your itinerary. I love how I immediately feel like I was transported back centuries ago as it’s hard to believe how authentic the decor and peranakan aesthetics were. The explicative booklet that the staff gave was handy and serve to provide more information. The information presented in the museum weren’t verbose, it was easy to understand and appreciate the look and charm of the peranakan yesteryears. Truly, it was a wonderful experience learning about the peranakans in malacca.

Baba-Nyonya heritage in Malaysia is a rich cultural blend, stemming from the intermarriage of Chinese traders and local Malays. The term refers to the descendants of these unions, who developed a unique identity with distinct art, cuisine, and language known as Baba Malay. Their homes, or "Peranakan houses," showcase intricate craftsmanship and vibrant colors. The Baba-Nyonya community has significantly contributed to Malaysia's diverse cultural tapestry, preserving traditions through generations. This Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum is already more than 100 years old and has been passed down by a few generations. There is currently no guided tour available however visitors will be given a tour booklet in English or in Mandarin. This provides us a better understanding of this heritage museum. Suggest to take a grab there instead of driving to the place because in malacca is so hard to find a parking place.

One of the best spot in Melaka. A well curated Baba House and furniture. Brilliant architecture for a tropical house, and beautifully decorated with Chinese, Malay, and Western style. A must visit i Melaka.

This is an excellent museum dedicated to a wealthy family in Melaka. Each room was exquisitely preserved or portrayed a story from the lives of the family. Although there is currently restoration of the kitchen going on, you can still see into the area they are working on. It’s a must visit while in the area. I learned so much about the culture!

Very well maintained heritage house. It was a bit crowded with people as this place is so popular.

More comprehensive, optional for introvert and extrovert to enjoy! Visitors can choose to be self-guided (with a book!) Or have a tourguide explains the history. The house itself is quite big. Althought there are some places that are off limits, it is still enjoyable and picturistic.

One of the must-visit places in Malacca, this museum is exceptionally maintained. The interior and its collection of antique items transport you back in time. Observing the intricacies of the dressing tables, beds, kitchenware, photographs, musical instruments, and various other old artifacts truly immerse you in the historical ambiance.

Though I missed the Saturday guided tour, the staff kindly provided a handbook for self-guided exploration during my Sunday visit. Descriptions accompany most exhibits, enriching the experience and offering insight into each item and area within the museum.
