Esplanade Walkway

After a hearty breakfast of Nasi Kandar, we decided to take a leisurely stroll here.

Parking was readily available, possibly due to the early hour. Benches were strategically placed for those in need of rest, although the walkway could benefit from additional and larger trees for some shade from the sun.

On certain time of the day, the scorching heat and the lack of shade made sitting on the benches feel like being in an oven.

Aside from the limited tree coverage, it is a pleasant stretch for walking, occasionally offering views of a large cruise ship docked nearby.

It’s a nice place to walk, but do prepare umbrella and sunscreen because it’s hot!!🥵

You guys should try Link Bike Apps and round the area with the bike. Only RM3 per day and it's free for the first 30 minute! Nice view but it was super hot today. Don't forget to keep hydrated! ❤

A place that you can take a seat while having a nice view

Interesting place to visit and sightseeing. The wind breeze makes it a relaxing place to take a stroll and unwind.

Nice place for a walk. One can do a picnic at the Padang nearby. Few local malay restaurants around.

Good admosphere for walking in the evening. There are playground and local food shops.

Good view of the sea and skyline. It was breezy and cool which was not the usual balmy weather that greets occasional visitors.

Small place but nice to walk 😊

The Esplanade Walkway is the latest addition to the beautiful waterfront. When walking at this lower terrace, one can feel the tide coming in. Great place to visit...besides Padang Kota, Fort Cornwallis...and the nearby FoodCourt to serve one's thirst or hunger.

Must experience at night. Windy. Food trucks along the way if you are hungry.

The Esplanade is a waterfront location in the heart of George Town, Penang, Malaysia. It covers the field adjacent to Fort Cornwallis, known locally as the Padang, and the seaside promenade along the edge of the field. The Penang City Hall faces the Padang and the Cenotaph of Penang is also located along the promenade.
