Kek Lok Si Temple exudes an aura of serenity and tranquility that captivates visitors from near and far. One of the highlights of Kek Lok Si Temple is the towering Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas, a magnificent structure that rises majestically towards the sky. In addition to its spiritual significance, Kek Lok Si Temple also offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, with panoramic vistas stretching out as far as the eye can see.

The temple complex was incredibly large and there are many shrines to pray around and visit. It was really colourful and in spite of the large number of visitors, it is still peaceful and not overly chaotic.

A beautiful temple, full of energy, silence and beauty. Located upstairs, it has 3 floors and many beautiful nooks and crannies. Admission is free, with minor costs when entering the cart or entering the pagoda. I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience good energy.

Amazing temple with lovely architecture and beautiful views! Make sure you take the time to visit the pagoda! It's 2RM pp and well worth it. They also had stunning decorations up for Chinese New Year.

It only happens once a year during the Chinese New Year period that the temple grounds are fully lighted up beautifully at night . Red lanterns - symbol of joy and prosperity are beautifully decorated. Definitely worth a visit

Easier access and with plenty of photo opportunities!
Energetic visitors can climb stairways to top of the pagoda for beautiful views of the temple complex and also Georgetown.
Good selection of shops for local delicacies and also tourist souvenirs.

A must see (though not in the hot sun...)! Be careful when driving all the way up as it is easy to miss the turn left into the temple at the highest tier. A $3 parking fee is needed before you can proceed further in.

The photos don't do justice to the majesty of the statues. If you would like to, different types of prayers can be offered at the main prayer hall . No comments about other parts of the temple at the middle or lower tier as we just wanted to visit the guanying statue.

The temple is in a phenomenal location and offers fantastic views. For those seeing a spiritual breather from the breakneck pace of the city below there's something here for you, too. Believers kneeling and saying their prayers, lighting incense sticks, writing wishes on ribbons. It is magical. Come here and feel it.

Recommend to visit on morning or evening, if you're coming when night, it's going to be a very different situation. First of all, parking. The parking will be very super difficult to be found , if you are unlucky you might find no parking, it's almost impossible to park there without giving those Indian money.( Cost around rm3-10)
Second, prepare water if you want to visit to the guanyin temple, you might to walk for a 15 minute to reach there, if you reach there when night, you need to pay extra in order to visit inside , but there's also a cable car service there, you can try it if you wish to.
However, apparently Malaysia are known for its heartwarming scorching Weather, so please choose a perfect time to visit if you don't wish to have a sunburnt. Recommend 6-7pm

went to the top of the seven-storied pagoda and take photos of the amazing views.
However, the third floor and above were not cleaned thoroughly, and plastic bottles and trash were scattered about.
There is a parking lot.
I bought a round trip lift ticket and went to the top. There is also a souvenir shop.

Since I went early in the morning, it wasn't crowded and I was able to enjoy the scenery in the morning.😁

Going there 2nd day of Chinese new year. We're on the road jam for at least 60 minutes before we get a parking. Everywhere is full parking, the road is steep as the temple is at the hill. The walk around the temple is worth to visit, best time to visit is after 6pm because the weather is quite hot. If you want to go the well known statue, either take a hike through the driving way or the rail (which you have to pay.)

A very nice place to spend half a day or more to see chinese culture. You can walk around on your own to take nice pictures. As it is located on a hilly area, you can have a very nice scenery of Penang. The building design are unique and vibrant. Too bad there is no guided tour, if not we can understand more chinese culture and their history.

Beautiful temple. Worth visiting. Free of charge, except for the pagoda where you have to pay RM2 (worth it).
You don't need to take the cable car except for when you want to go to the statue. Otherwise you're fine of just walking :).

The Kek Lok Si Temple in Penang is an architectural marvel and a cultural gem nestled amidst the lush hills of Air Itam. This sprawling Buddhist temple complex stands as a testament to Penang's rich heritage and religious diversity. Towering over the landscape is the majestic Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas, adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant hues, offering a mesmerizing sight to behold.

The temple's serene ambiance invites visitors to explore its ornate prayer halls, serene gardens, and statues that exude spirituality and artistry. Ascend the inclined lift to reach the temple's upper levels for panoramic views of Penang Island.

However, during peak times, the site can get crowded, impacting the tranquil experience. Nonetheless, the cultural significance and architectural grandeur of Kek Lok Si Temple make it a must-visit destination, allowing travelers to immerse themselves in spirituality, history, and breathtaking vistas.

The best of Penang, and one of the most beautiful places that I’ve been in 🇲🇾.

The entrance is free, you have to pay just to go upstairs in the pagoda and to take the lift to the most higher place, very recommended.

The largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia. Built 1890-1930. Take a picture of the seven-story 30m (98ft) high pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas. It combines a Chinese octagonal base, Thai middle tier and a Burmese crown.
Don't forget to take a funicular ride to the magnificent Guanyin broze statue (36.57m/230ft.) Ringgit and cash only. We did manager to pay in $ after much of deliberation.
A must see.

Kek Lok Si temple is an iconic destination in Penang island. This beautiful Buddhist temple is located in Ayer Itam and is popular with both locals and tourists. Visitors can either take mini cable car to the main prayer hall or make a short height up top. There is no strict dress code enforcement but advisable to wear appropriately.

You should definitely visit the temple during the evening lights, especially at the Chinese New Year period. For 2024, you can still go to see the temple until 07.03!!! (Dont pay attention to google maps that it is closed)!

Must go if you are in penang. This is one of the few places that you have to go if you are in penang. It’s elderly friendly as there is an incline lift where you have to pay abit and go up to the top. There’s minimum walking and at the top of the temple, there’s a huge guan yin statue which lots of people visit to pay their respects.
