The Hafnarhús is one of Reykjavik's Art Museum's three locations.

I really like the Hafnarhúsið with its varied exhibition program featuring local and international contemporary artists .... as well
the home of the works of Erró, one of Iceland's famous artists. 👍👍

Highly recommended if you’re interested in art of all sorts. Lots of different exhibits with multiple mediums and themes. They have 3 locations across Reykjavik and 1 entry gives you access to all 3 for 24h. Some really touching art pieces when I visited in December 2022.

I’m not a huge fan of contemporary art, but this museum did a good job at using its different gallery spaces to exhibit a variety of work. I really enjoyed their “up and coming” artist exhibit (I think it was gallery D). We lucked out and we’re able to fit it in our trip because the last Thursday of every month they’re open until 10PM.

Small but well-curated museum! Each gallery was in theme with whatever it was suppose to show. Favorite part: the gallery attendant Claus, who was so kind throughout the whole experience!

Staff was friendly and the exhibitions on were fascinating. I'm a fan of strange, weird, funky looking modern art so that was definitely my vibe but might not be everyone's cup of tea. It's not very big so I'd still recommend popping in for a quick stroll if you have a hole in your schedule. Price of admission is alright but it's worth doing it on a day you're going to other museums so you can get a City Card and bulk it up for cheaper.

Erro exhibit was the best. Complex and fun. An entire lifetime of his art. If you like Warhol you will love this.

I loved the experience 💜 beautiful art collection. I had never seen pieces of conceptual art before, I learned that here. There was a special guide who taught some of US in the museum about the art they have.

One of the 3 Reykjavik Art Museums! Pay once and visit all 3 within 24 hours!

If you are a big fans of contemporary artist like Shoplifters or Erró, you’ll never feel disappointed.

Very helpful staff assisted us with replacing my friend's Reykjavik City Card after it had fallen out of her pocket (with original receipt and my card to confirm the purchase and 24 hour period we were allotted of course). Loved the immersive quality of the exhibitions and the unique curations too!

We managed to get in using the Reykjavik City Card. Although quiet, an excellent chance to experience what this place has to offer!

I visited in the day it re-opened. Got in for free because I used my Reykjavik City Card. Everyone who worked there was friendly. I saw some beautiful work. It wasn't crowded.

Nice building in what seems to be a converted prison.

The museum is awesome and there was free coffee inside which is always welcome after you have to pay the admission ticket - luckily for us it was the Culture day so all the museums were free and there was music on the streets i(definitely the best day to visit Reykjavík).

There was a fish cake competition going on the ground floor.

We visited a lovely pop art exhibition and the permanent exhibition that covered many Icelandic artists.
