We came here for lunch and had a great time! Food was good, although some of us thought the fish didn't have much taste. However, some of us also really liked the fish (especially the salmon). The staff was also very friendly and there was a nice atmosphere.

Very nice traditional Icelandic restaurant.
Big meal menu. Especially lamb and fish.
The restaurant is located in the main and a popular street in Reykjavik.
The food was delicious.
The fish meal was my favourite.
Very friendly and efficient service.
And not forget to try a typical Icelandic beer 🍺 viking.

I came here tonight and had a great time with my friends. The server/host is super friendly, the service was 10/10, and the food was 10/10. I highly recommend this place if you’re ever visiting Reykjavik. It is centrally located downtown, so if you finish your dinner here, you can easily walk to nearby bars and dessert shops.

What we order for our table:
-lamb shank
-vegan plate
-catch of the day
-Margherita pizza

*thumbs up*

The restaurants we wanted to go to were fully booked, that initial disappointment was short lived when we found Salka Valka.

We were a bit puzzled because it had great reviews but was empty, never mind in we went.

Super friendly service. Menu was a bit limited, none of the reindeer or steak that I was looking for so just decided on a pizza. But no disappointment here…..the pizzas are fantastic. Bursting with flavour. The table next had soup…massive bowls!

Fantastic service
Delicious food
Reasonably priced….especially for Reykjavik

Can see why the reviews are so positive. 5 stars

I make a point of coming here whenever in Reykjavik. All of the food is amazing- and I really REALLY love the pizza. It's a must try! The fish dishes are great too, as are the soups. Also love their drinks!

Tasty food (we tried the fish soup, fish stew, cod, which was the catch of the day and the herring). Friendly people. Cozy environment. Reasonable prices.

The staff... So friendly and welcoming, and these gentle souls serve food and drinks that are exactly what is advertised.
This quickly became a part of my comfort-zone, and no doubt I will re-visit every time I go to Reykjavik from now on.

Great terrace in a nice street. Service was a bit slow, but the food was great. The fish pizza was something different, but the toppings were well balanced and there was a load of them. Did not try the beers as in Iceland they are very expensive.

If the day is too cold nothing is better than a fish stew there. Great fish of the day, good size and fair price. Staff was lovely.

Good atmosphere, friendly staff and nice dishes. I was not so hungry and just had small plate with beer. It seems main plate is also nice, will try next time

The best meal I've had in a long time from an unassuming restaurant with friendly staff and great drinks. The Kako is delicious and made with very high quality dark chocolate.

The food here is SO good, so fresh... you have to try the ginger sauce, it's a great addition to the Arctic Char!

Love love love the food! Highly recommended by our local guesthouse owner, Sandra. The fish soup is the best we have tasted (we tasted more than 4 so far). Starter, herring on rye bread tasted heavenly. The fish soup had added paprika which gave it a unique flavour. The fish stew was a surprise with fragrant basmati rice. We had a lovely, relaxing and delicious dinner after a day of Golden Circle tour.

So nice we had to try it twice.

This was the first restaurant we tried in Iceland, and after several days on the island, trying food all over, we had to come back to Salka Valka for our final dinner.

The food is outstanding, the service is excellent and very friendly, and the atmosphere is very warm and chill.

If you're looking for delicious food in a relaxing, inviting atmosphere with good music... this is it.

We had the fish stew (so freaking good), the smoked salmon (twice), the soup (once with, once without soup), the Hawaiian pizza (NY style, perfectly done), and the volcano cake (decadent and super tasty).

Definitely stop in here for a meal.

Very friendly service, yummy good quality and good sized portions of food. came here twice, they have great pizzas, definitely recomend the fish pizza but they are all nice. They also have icelandic dishes like the fish stew which was also yummy. Also decent prices, great for quick dinner or lunch.

This quaint dining place is highly recommended and is understandably so! Their food is superb! Observing every table devour their dishes and leaving empty plates says it all! The tables got all filled in a matter of time… there was a group of 4 that had to wait for the next table to be open… the waitress went out to bring them warm wool blankets as they await their entry to the restaurant… great service indeed ❣

We were walking around downtown and came upon this place for lunch. I ordered the lamb shank. It was delicious. Wonderfully seasoned and cooked. Highly recommended.

This was the most lovely start to our Iceland trip! The vegan plate is impeccable, the soup was delicious, the bread was perfect, and the service was lovely. I’d recommend sitting outside when the weather is nice, there’s a good photo op with the church in the background! (Definitely try the lava cake, too!)

Tried traditional fish here. Not expensive compared to the other places and friendly atmosphere inside. :)
