This was one of our most incredible meals, not only in Iceland, but in general. We tried the set menus — Surf and Turf, and Discover Iceland. I can’t recommend the Discover Iceland enough. The glazed lamb fillet was honestly the best lamb we’ve ever had. The slow-cooked cod was also incredible. The panfried scallops were really nice. The chocolate lion bar was our favorite dessert. The food is absolutely worth the trip….this would be great for a date night. The place itself is a little unassuming, but not in a bad way. Would recommend to everyone and would absolutely visit again 💯

What a lovely spot arrived at this spot not planned but was wonderful live pianist playing and the service was great! Natalia was our server and she was attentive and knew everything about the menu! The food was top notch. Thanks for a great evening! Would definitely go back! 😃

This was the best dinner of my Iceland trip. Highly recommend coming here for dinner while they have the live music. When you are close to being finished I’d ask for the check because otherwise they will let you sit and enjoy your time without bothering you. (It took quite a while to get our check, not a complaint just mentioning). We loved the set menu options and the fish of the day.

We had an outstanding service and dinner and wanted to highly recommend choosing to enjoy a nice dinner at Food Cellar when you visit Reykjavík. From the moment we were welcomed in the hospitality was stellar, especially our server Solveig, she made our meal experience memorable and the food was exceptional! We recommend ordering the chefs selection menu, each of six courses was literally perfection and the staff nailed all the details. We can’t say enough it was a highlight and we can’t wait to dine with them again soon.

GREAT food and wonderful atmosphere and servers. Thoroughly enjoyed the fish special when we were there. Absolutely delicious! Would definitely come here again. Got a chuckle out of the envelope they delivered the bill in. Nice when the business can have a sense of humor.

You can tell the food was made with great ingredients. We did the secret Christmas menu. Price was a little more to the expensive side but the experience was worth it for

This was our first meal in Iceland. Yes, pricey, but we had the Secret Menu which delivered in spades.
The staff were attentive and informative whilst avoiding being over bearing. There was a live pianist on the Thursday evening which was enjoyable.

Of note, two tables over we overheard that one patron didn't eat meat: the staff couldn't have been more supportive arranging suitable Secret Menu alternatives. The reason for everyone at the table having the range menu is understandable, it was around 2 hours plus!

And we've avoided any photos of the menu as we don't want to spoil it for others!

Loved this restaurant. We came on our first night of our Iceland trip with not many expectations, but the food here was a very very good. We had the surf&turf menu and the Icelandic menu and both were great. Big portions and very flavorful dishes.
Best restaurant so far of our trip!

We had the 4 course set menu for dinner and it blew our mind. Simply outstanding. The flavours are to die for. Each dish is crafted with thought and saying that it is tasty would be an understatement.

The fish soup was the highlight. In particular the little scallops were like butter melt in your mouth insane tasty. They were out of Arctic Char unfortunately as that was the reason for a couple of us going there. They gave us options for Salmon but we have chest freezers full of Salmon at home.

We visited five years ago on our first visit to Reykjavík, Iceland. This visit with our friends , also from Australia, didn't disappoint. Stand out dishes were the chicken kebabs, lamb and confit duck. The piano player added to the atmosphere and topped off the evening. No room for dessert, big meals!

The chef created a very inventive, delicious, progressive and enjoyable vegan set menu. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and found it to be very creative. It was well thought out with texture, complimentary flavor profiles, visually appealing and pallet pleasing. The chef took humble vegetables and made them taste fantastic. I even complimented the chef in person. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service and ambiance was first class. This is a place you want to go to with that special someone on a special occasion. It's expensive, but save up - its well worth it!

Absolutely stellar dining experience! The food was so delicious, so creative, so beautifully presented that we felt compelled to ask the chef to visit our table to congratulate him on his skill and talent. Our server was friendly and attentive, with a great sense of humor.. This was a meal to remember! Go for the vegan set menu! Some of the best dishes we've ever had, vegan or otherwise! We loved it!!!

Visited as part of our tour, had a "set" menu but it couldn't be faulted, excellently cooked and served.

It was my first visit. The service is very courteous and professional. I was seated at a very nice table despite being a solo diner.

The waitress was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the food and the wine pairing.

The food was very good. In particular I did like the cod and the lamb. But all dishes were convincing and well prepared.

There are numerous premium dining options in this area but they’re certainly among the best of them.

Cozy decadence. Just off the square, this basement setting gives the sense of a secret luxury. We needed reservations as this isn't really a secret and people know about the quality. Service was quick to take drink orders and then soon after took meal orders. My wife and I got the pre-fixe, Discover Iceland, and Surf and Turf. This is the best method to get a bit of everything. There was pretzel bread to start the table. Slow cooked cod with truffles and smoked lamb. Was a treat I especially appreciated the amount of truffle. The other was seared scallops which was tender and rich. I then got an extra course with smoked char which was closed to a raw texture that had a freshness to it, but the horseradish icecream was a triumph. The horseradish was there but the heat was not, so the bite with the smoked char and icecrwam was almost a refresher before the meal. This maybe should have been an amusbuche. For mains, roast lamb filled with mash. This was tasty but by far my wife's main was the best. It was seasoned beautifully and had such a punch of umami that makes you sad when the steak is gone. Finally, I had the rubarb pie (which was really a crisp) the rubarb was sweet and tart nice balance and the crisp was crunch and buttery. My wife's chocolat bar was like a long truffle. So light but fudge and rich. It also had a quennel of raspberry sorbet which made such a delightful bite with the chocolat and raspberry. While they had an ok cellar we both got the smokey Pablo which was sooo good that we had a few between us. A bit like a matured long island ice tea. Staff was attentive, polite, and timely. Parking is a little difficult but the whole city is so walkable.
