I have a new favourite fish, it's called the red scorpionfish. It was delicious. 👌 Smoked tuna is also very nice.

The gregada is life changing. Hands down the best meal of a multi-week tour of the coast.
Our gregada had very good-sized portions of John Dory, red scorpion fish, monkfish and shark. The shark was good but the other three fish were indescribable. Perfectly cooked. The potatoes and onions in the broth were also amazing. Everything about this dish was perfect.
Our very friendly waiter recommended fried calamari for a starter so we wouldn’t get too full before the gregada arrived. The calamari was delicious - tender and lightly fried. The waiter also told us that their gregada is their best dish and is perfect.
The house white wine was better than most.
Finally, the dessert was outstanding. I don’t remember the name but have posted a picture - it was a rich mousse with a biscuity base.
Everything about our meal at Macondo was wonderful. I would go back there in a heartbeat.
Tip: if you email them for a reservation and are told they’re full, don’t despair. Walk up to the restaurant and check. That’s what we did and we had no problem getting a reservation for the following night.

Excellent gregada! Ordered it for four and did not regret - four types of fish, including shark, excellent broth, potatoes and onions. Very fulfilling and tasty.
Some from our company ordered prawns and mussels, also calamari and squid. Mixed reviews from them, however I didn't taste that.
Waiters spoke good English, gave good advice and heard them even speaking Spanish with the next table.
Loved the location and atmosphere!

An absolute hidden treasure! We were lucky enough to witness the exquisite dishes being enjoyed by our friends seated at a neighboring table - a delectable fish and lobster feast. However, it was the sight of a tantalizing pasta infused with succulent lobster that truly stole the show. Our own culinary adventure consisted of a heavenly Frutti di Mare dish, accompanied by a perfectly executed risotto and an exceptional pasta creation. The flavors were unparalleled, and the freshness of the ingredients shone through in every bite. It's worth mentioning that initially, we received a discouraging recommendation from the staff at our hotel, discouraging us from visiting Black Pepper. Nevertheless, we followed our instincts and are beyond grateful that we did. This place exceeded our expectations and turned out to be an absolute gem!

Wow! The best seafood spaghetti I've had in a long time. Cooked straight from nona's kitchen to table.

A really generous portion of delicious clams, mussel and shrimps served on perfectly cooked, homemade, spaghetti pasta in a white sauce. The sauce was so amazingly seasoned you could enjoy it as a soup. It came with freshly baked bread.
We all loved it!

Today's meal was the highlight of a short, pre season, trip to Hvar. Great service with a superb dessert selection.
Strongly recommended.

If you’re looking for local food, look no further! We had a plate of mussels and clams and a plate of fried squid which were both amazing. Anything with the white wine and garlic sauce is good honestly because the sauce was amazing. We were even using our bread to soak up the sauce at the end of the meal. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is great. But yes payment is CASH ONLY. The photo is to show how good it was, we finished absolutely everything!

After walking past this place a few times we decided to stop and try our luck. The food was delicious, serving sizes were very generous and the staff were exceptional (a big call out to my mate Luca).

We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his dog. He was an extremely humble and nice guy as well.

With food this good, it’s no wonder the place is always packed!

Possibly the best meal we had in Hvar. Started with the seafood/sushi platter for two and couldn’t have made a better choice. As main we ordered the grilled squid with grilled veggies on the side and it was the best squid we ate during our entire stay in Croatia. Staff was extremely thoughtful. 10/10 recommend a visit.

When I die bury me in this risotto!! This might be the best seafood risotto i’ve ever had in my LIFE. We asked the waiter for recs and he suggested we mixed in the seafood with lobster. It was UNBELIEVABLE! Please stop by and try it for yourself - you will not regret it! (Cash only and fills quick, best to reserve in person for next day!)

We had Brodetto and it was really really good! Make sure to get yourself extra bread to fully appreciate the soup as well. The restaurant is really busy and you should reserve a table, possibly in the street to get the perfect Hvar atmosphere.

Friendly and fast service. The food was delicious. Absolutely loved the grilled squids and the truffle pasta. Sit outside in the alley as it adds to the European experience.

Best fish restaurant on the whole island, you can be sure that the fish is wild caught and deliver fresh to your table. It’s amazing place with the owners roots goes deep into the fishing long time ago and how buying the fresh fish from the local fisherman’s before they sell the best morning catch to the Italian companies. Trust me this restaurant is the best find in Hvar if you are talking about the freshness and quality.

Love love love this place to to the moon and back 🌕! Restaurant is headed by a granny and grandpa who I can see working hard in the restaurant. It feels like walking into your grandparents kitchen but only better. When I had my lobster spaghetti I felt like my world started tumbling because it was so good, and I have never had a meal that had me shaken like this. This restaurant is a must when you visit Hvar.

One of the best meals of our trip. Met the owner and chatted about how he named the restaurant after 100 years of solitude. We had mussels and clams, an octopus salad, and a grilled fish, which were all amazing a great order for two.

The restaurant has a really romantic atmosphere, the location was great. The stuff was really nice and recommended us the traditional dish wich tasted amazing. I highly recommend if you want to have the best fresh fish 🐟

Reccomended by a local, the service was 5 stars, the fish stew with potatoes and parsely was mouth watering. The other seafood; octopus salad and grilled baby calamari was extremely fresh and well prepared, definitely one of the best restaraunts in Hvar.

Absolutely gorgeous experience at Macondo. Ordered two frutti di mare and received a massive share plate filled to the brim for us to serve from. Attentive and kind servers, glorious atmosphere and incredible food. A must visit when you go to Hvar.

A warm and friendly restaurant specializing in fresh local fish cooked to perfection. This small cafe has 5 indoor tables and spills out into the quiet ancient passageway with 10 more. This is the perfect place to go to leave all the crowds behind. The food, local wines and wait staff are excellent. Just minutes from the main square, this is a hidden treasure.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. The cold starter of Octopus Salad starts off feeling clammy and plain but soon becomes quite nice indeed. The must have dish is the Lobster Spaghetti. Be warned that you have to handle the half lobster yourself but you have all the utensils - takes time but worth it. The spaghetti and sauce is simple but absolutely delicious. Book for an early 7.30 dinner to avoid disappointment later in not being able to get a table. The house red is absolutely fine. By the way, cash only no cards but ATMs nearby in the main square
