The fortress is on top of the hill. It has incredible views, especially during sunset. It’s definitely worth the entrance fee. If you don’t want to pay the entrance fee, you can still sit on the sea-facing side outside the fortress but I think the views from the top of the fortress is better. There’s parking around which was quite easy.

I was expecting a repeat of the gruelling stairs that permeate Hvar but from the gate in up it was a relatively gentle well-maintained sloping path.

We were there for sunset and the views were unparalleled! Pay the €10 entry fee - you won’t be disappointed. And don’t miss the prison!

Well worth the hike up several stairs out of the town center then up a winding path with fantastic views. €10 per adult and €5 for kids (under 19) with amazing views. It gets crowded with cruise ship guests when they are in town and is quote exposed and can be hot. Best advice is to go early at 9am when it opens, much more pleasant walk up, limited crowds and overall a better experience

Sensational views from the Fortress. Spend the $10 per person it’s worth it for the tippy top views. Try and time it for a bit before sunset. Bar in the fortress if you want a drink or coffee.

Fortica Fortress dominates Hvar and the views from it are great. The inside of the fortress is interesting historically and features a prison.
There is also a pleasant cafe within the fortress which had an excellent freshly made ice-lemon tea. 😋
Both recommended.

Lovely hike up the hill to the fortress - well marked hiking trail. Takes about 30-40 mins . If not keen to go back down the trail after sunset pre book your taxi back .

About 10min walk to the sight from the harbour. Walking up a lot of steps to get to the sight, then up slight diagonal staggerd hills to the top. So be wary if you struggle with steps.
Lovely walk to the top, stopping to admire stunning views and photo opportunities. There was an ice cream stand halfway. And benches at the top to sit and admire the view.

Going in the Fort was quiet, not busy and interesting, and had a souvenir shop and a small restaurant. Worth a visit.

Stunning views, the path up isn’t particularly steep but just takes a little while if you aren’t as mobile. Must see in Hvar.

The fortress is not make a big impression. But the views from the top are amazing.

The €10 entry fee is steep but the views are genuinely amazing - if the weathers nice. If its raining/cloudy I wouldn’t recommend it. Besides the views there is a nice cafe and some souvenir shops in the complex too, as well as a toilet. Also a very small museum like area to see some sunken ship artefacts which are interesting and a small prison to visit too. An hour is probably enough time here.

It’s an easy hike upto the fortress. There is usually an entrance fee, but it was free for us because of the Easter break. Quite nice to walk around and click some great pictures. Please account for some small breaks on the way to enjoy the view. There are a lot of benches to sit and lie down on to enjoy the sun and the view.

Beautiful, historical and a fantastic view over Hvar. The view is a big contrast, the historical fort and the modern luxury yachts in the harbour.

The old town looks imaging 👍

Just follow the stairs from the city centre, you’ll never regret this trip and never forgets it because all the beauty.

Great experience. The view of Hvar from the top of the fortress is incredible and worth the money alone. The climb is nothing strenuous if you choose to walk. Doing so takes you through the pretty, narrow streets of Hvar and constant views as you wind up a few paths to the entrance.

The fortress itself is good to look around, we took it all in. The best time to go is just before sunset when the weather is cooler. You get to see Hvar city with lingering daylight and it as the lights come on. Well worth the visit!

15 minute walk from the main Hvar dock, it has a few steep stairs and then a winding trail to minimise the pain going up well, there are cute stone decorations and a convenience stand halfway to help quench your thirst on hot days. Drink water and take your time. The view up top is beautiful

The views spectacular, over two hours spent here just walking about the fortress. We went via Uber, returned by bus, porta toilets were there, a supermarket restaurants etc, all at the beginning of the entrance.. definitely WORTH the visit

Very nice place to have an overview at the Hvar city and port, the walk is nice, the gardens on the way down (or up!) from Hvar are very nice aswell.

Small payment to enter but well worth it for the views. You can see the whole marina and the small town. There is a nice little cafe/bar which has a good choice of drinks and not too badly priced. There is a small museum inside, some prison cells and a couple of gift shops, plenty of history to see.

Lovely castle well worth the little climb (several drink stalls alone the way to quench your thirst). You’ll spend a few good hours examining the prison, sunk sea-bottom treasures and bay views. Couple of nice tourist and art shops (one of them unfortunately closed between 13-17). Surprisingly good bar with fresh drinks. Must see!
