This church is unfortunately positioned in the middle of the Strand making it just enough out of the way to only visit if you intend or are adventurous. We stopped while we were waiting for another store to open and glad we did.

This is a beautiful old church (which has been rebuilt a number of times) dedicated to military personnel. The lists of the fallen are displayed around the outer aisle of the church with photos and memorabilia displayed in the back.

A wide central aisle with a barrel vaulted ceiling lead the eye to the front altar. There is also a beautifully carved wooden pulpit.

There is a crypt below the church, but was closed the day we were there.

Well worth a visit to honor the fallen.

Situated on The Strand near to Fleet Street and opposite the High Court.

St Clement Danes is known for its affiliation to the Royal Air Force, and there are many references to their heroics during two world wars exhibited throughout the church.

This iconic London church is also mentioned in the nursery rhyme 'Oranges and Lemons'

I'm perhaps biased as I work there a few days per month. This beautiful Wren church suffered devastating war damage so that what you see now is a sensitive restoration reopened in 1958 as the Central Memorial Church of the RAF. Around the walls are some 14 books recording the many thousands of names of British and allied personnel who died on active service. There's no entry fee but donations are very welcome.

My father, who was a Royal Air Force officer, belonged to this church, so it has always had a special place for me.

St. Clement Danes is a beautiful little church in the Strand. The first church on the site was reputedly founded by the Danesin the 9th century. The current building was completed in 1682 by Sir Christopher Wren. Nowadays its dedicated as the main church for the Royal Air Force and there are a few statues of the most well known leaders of the RAF.

Inside the church is richly decorated as befits a church dedicated to the fine men and women who risk their lives to serve our country. All around the church are memorabilia associated with the RAF as well as plenty of memorials to other air forces that served alongside the RAF such as the Polish and Americans.

There's also a crypt which is open to the public with more memorabilia associated with the RAF.

The bells ringing made me notice the opened entrance. This was a pleasant surprise, a quaint church/museum with plenty to see, read and admire.

We need to avoid wars at all costs.

Every time we've been to London it's been closed this time it was open and so pleased we could get in. My wife's uncles name was in the book of remembrance so eventually we have managed to achieve a goal.
The church its self is a lovely tribute to all who served

St Clement Danes is a Sir Christopher Wren designed The church was completed in 1682
The church holds the Books of Remembrance to all those who have died in service in the Royal Air Force. It also displays unique RAF artefacts from its 100-year history. situated outside the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand. The church is sometimes claimed to be the one featured in the nursery rhyme "Oranges and Lemons" and the bells do indeed play that tune every day on the hour daily.

Very famous Wren Church, the Central Church of the RAF on the Strand. Almost totally destroyed by German bombing. Pictures are Sir Archie McIndoe's chair, the history of the RAF and picture taken in the Nave towards the Altar. Squadron badges are inserted in the floor.

I have walked past this so many times, and finally decided to have a look. I was not prepared for what was waiting for me inside. Not only is this a simply stunning church it is filled with history and memorials for the amazing men and women of the RAF. Do yourself a favour and give this incredible building a look.

A beautiful church dedicated to the Service men and women of the Royal Air Force. Packed full of history and solemn dedication. Be sure to take a walk around the outside to spot the damage caused during the blitz.

I'd had a walk down Ludgate Hill, Fleet Street and the Strand and arrived at the church which was unfortunately closed. Just as I was leaving at 10:30 the doors opened and I stepped inside. I was extremely lucky and fortunate to be met by two ladies connected with the church. We spent some time reminiscing and discussing various aspects of the RAF. One of the ladies then volunteered to give me a personal tour of the church and explained its history to me. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she provided me with a fascinating history of the church and its many artefacts. Her knowledge definitely added to my visit to the church and I was extremely grateful to her. Thank you very much.

My first visit today, I wanted to have a look round, but instead was treated to a concert by the RAF musicians, playing a piece by Dvorak, so, I will have to make another visit for a look round, but I don't mind !

Beautiful and very welcoming church with an extremely interesting history; they have many music & choral events, often featuring one of the RAF bands and the church's own choir - first class and well worth attending, thoroughly recommended.

Almost completely destroyed during WWII, with just its shell and tower left standing, it was rebuilt over a decade later, though evidence of the bomb damage is still clearly visible on one of the outside corners, serving as a very physical reminder of the losses of so many recognised by the Remembrance Books inside the church, recording the names of airmen and ladies that lost their lives during conflict.
