Enjoyed a lunch here with my friend. The food is delicious and we were stuffed by the time we left. It is upmarket place to eat but you get what you pay for. The staff are friendly, warm and welcoming.
They do however add a big tip to the end of your bill which I'm sure people would freely give if let up to them. I guess your only looking after your staff.
Its quite out of the way and not easy to find.
I would definitely put the sign for Salt on the other side of the road as it's not in the correct view for the drivers. The do have a small car park which is free and a good walk way for wheelchair/ pushchairs.

Lovely up market cafe, menu and interioir, tucked away in a hidden small marina I spotted on Google Maps near Portchester castle. Not too long for the food considering how nearly full it was. The various loaded fries options are amazing, and delicious! Highly recommend. Do cooked breakfasts too although only till about noon so missed it. Bit pricy for a family of 4 or kids if just looking for a bit of lunch, but it was well worth it for the quality and location/atmosphere. Great looking cakes and pasties, and we also had a great coffee. Friendly staff, although a bit hard to catch their attention when walking past, but probably just because it was busy. Great views of the harbour and lovely out door seating if dry and not too windy, even a jetty with picnic tables over the water which will be great when i assume accessible in the summer. Great find, definite want to go back.

Great location by the water, lots to see (binoculars provided at window tables). Excellent service, welcoming and friendly in just the right proportion with nice coffee and delicious cakes. From the outside its an ordinary grey box .... inside its a gem of a cafe !

Super place for a spot of lunch and walk along the shoreline. Lovely food, the cafe is well decorated and the staff are very welcoming and polite. Super views from the window seats and plenty of tables outside. Bar inside the cafe and toilet inside.

A really nice café by the waters edge and only a short walk along the shore to Portchester Castle.
The food is lovely, reasonably priced and the place has a lovely atmosphere.

Turn Left immediately after Heritage Gardens, at the sign on your left. Down the track on the Right is dedicated parking for the café. There is a decked walkway leading along the fence line to the shore and the Café can be seen directly ahead. The path is wheelchair accessible and if you are mobility impaired, at the road barrier, press the buzzer and you will be given access to drop of the passenger, returning the vehicle to the allocated parking area.
The outdoor seating covered patio looks out across the water and has views towards the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
The staff are super friendly and very helpful with requests.
The Latte was really creamy and the full English Breakfast included proper tasty sausages.
Ambience is homely and the seating includes a large group table, casual dining, a bar area and soft sofa relaxers. Brilliant find and will certainly try again in the summer when booking in advance will be a must. It does get busy.
As promised, 2nd visit on a Bank Holiday Monday, when booking was essential. At 0930 the cafe was buzzing. All as before, brilliant.

I don't often give out full marks but I had a wonderful brunch at this little gem. My breakfast was delicious, great 'proper butchers' sausage and adjustments made with no fuss. I loved my pecan pie desert nutty and sweet, my friend had the courgette pistachio and lime cake and that was lovely moist and fresh full of lime. I wasn't so fond of my ice latte but the white chocolate frappe well I could have had another. I came with my friend and our babies and we felt welcome and well looked after. It wasn't the cheapest of places but in a lovely secluded setting with great views and free parking I marked the full package. I would definitely visit again.

Excellent brunch here. I guess that a mid-winter visit might not have shown off venue in best way, but the setting is promising for a summer revisit. There is a large public car park nearby (ask Mrs Google) and at busy times that will clinch parking for you. Great local walks.

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Salt cafe enjoying the views across the Portchester shoreline with great food and atmosphere. Staff are friendly, food is excellent (we had the Slat cafe breakfast grill and the vegan 3 bean chilli) plus the espresso blend is nice too. Highly recommended, it can get busy so worth booking at peak times, really nice spot to stop on the shoreline and enjoy the food and hospitality at Salt cafe👍🏾👊 dog friendly too and they will even do a plate of sausages for the dogs to enjoy while you sit and chill🐕😁

A firm favourite of mine on the south coast, I’ve visited here a couple of times and most recently found out they’ve extended.. rightly so!
Great customer service, reasonable prices, lots of seating and dog friendly. The toilets are in a separate building just down a walkway outside of the cafe itself but it’s not an issue.
I’ve heard so much about their sausage rolls.. I just wish there was a veggie one!

I would totally recommend this cafe for a sunny day as most of the seating is outside the cafe. There are a few tables inside but space is too limited. You can enjoy your breakfast on a pier that extends from the cafe to the lake with views over an old boatyard and Portsmouth. Breakfast and drinks are really good especially the coffee frappé. Staff are super friendly and helpful too. One of the best places to spend summer mornings. The cafe is a 40 min walk from central Fareham.

Lovely little cafe on the waterfront! Very friendly and attentive staff, only had to wait 5 minutes for a table on a busy Saturday morning for brunch! Really nice piping hot coffee and tasty bacon and pancakes with maple syrup! Highly recommend this cafe to anyone in the Fareham / Portchester area. Great cafe, lovely staff, great food!

Went on a very rainy day. Apparently it has changed hands. Food is basic BUT presented and cooked well. The cakes are tasty and varied. There is a covered outside area where you can eat and/or drink. A covered outside bar has also been introduced, it looked enticing. Access to the bar does not have to be through the cafe, there is a walkway around the outside of the cafe. Being on the waters edge makes the experience all the more enjoyable. Open until 8pm. The staff are kept very busy as it is so popular.

Love it here. Was originally such a hidden gem that's being more widely discovered and for good reason. Nothing better than sitting and admiring the view from this place on a nice sunny day, or cosying up inside of the cafe on a rainy one. Great food, lovely friendly service, dog friendly, one of my favourite spots!

Absolutely adore the Salt Cafe. Popped in for breakfast just after 9 on a Saturday morning. Clear car parking signage and directions, excellent covid guidance and a really friendly welcome. Not too busy, a few other customers and their 4 legged friends. Enjoyed bacon and egg sandwich, some great coffee and awsome views. This really is a 5 star place, great food, superb service in a great setting. What more could you ask for!
