The California Hotel

Our stay was comfortable, I suffer from COPD, when we arrived I was struggling, although we didn't asked, Emma went above and beyond to put us in a room on the ground floor, as there was no lifts at the property. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Emma was so kind, bringing our drinks onto the terrace, her customer service is fantastic. Rooms are small, bit clean and comfortable. Very close to King's Cross and St Pancras stations.

This is our second time staying at The California and it is better than what we remembered. The room had a fun adjustable floating bed. Service was always friendly, bar makes a nice Negroni and the breakfast is superb. The last morning we had to leave early for a train and the lady at reception (evening shift 7 Jan) organised the most thoughtful breakfast pack. She was amazing. Thank you for always making our stay memorable and easy.

Love this hotel. In a great location asked for a room I stayed in previously. But couldn't remember the number. They found it and put him. In the same room. Lovely decor very clean and staff always friendly. My go to London Hotel

I had an absolutely extraordinary experience at this hotel! The staff went above and beyond to make my partner's birthday unforgettable.

They thoughtfully arranged our bedroom with petals, a delicious cake, a heartfelt card, prosecco, and even a love heart swan – truly remarkable attention to detail.

The cherry on top was the balcony overlooking St. Pancras Clock, adding a touch of magic to our stay.

The service was impeccable, and the ambiance was simply out of this world. We couldn't have asked for a more special celebration.

Great hotel. A minutes walk to St. Pancreas Station, which was perfect for me. I've stayed at The California 4 times now, and I have no complaints. It was clean, comfortable, brilliant location and very friendly and helpful staff. I will be staying at The California again.

This hotel is set in the perfect location literally on King’s Cross station doorstep, bars, restaurants etc.. the room smelt nice and clean for a basement room, could hear the subway below the building but not noisy enough to be annoying or keep you awake. The staff were super friendly and had smiles which always is a good sign of a nice environment in my opinion. Would stay again.

Nice comfortable rooms, immediately across the street from Kings Cross. Perfect for an early morning Eurostar!

The best part is the warm and cheerful hospitality from Adam at the front desk. Highly recommend!

Great little hotel. Had an excellent stay. I had a double room and found it spacious, clean, comfy and stylish (with a very cool bathroom). Reception were friendly and helpful, lounge area was great for hanging out. Proximity to the station is a big score if you’re heading in or out of KX/St P but also for travel into the city. Definitely would recommend it.

Lovely little hotel. Brilliant location, small rooms but cosy, bath in the bathroom, comfortable bed, nice little bar. I will be back.

Very nice little hotel, a bit quirky but very convenient to St Pancreas/Kings Cross and reasonably priced for central London. Staff was without exception wonderful. Would definitely stay again.

Great hotel, staff friendly and really helpful. Very relaxed atmosphere, nice bar and terrace area. Great location, and lovely community feel as working with other businesses on that road for breakfast. We would stay here with our young children.

We opt for a quiet room and we got one but the view was not terrific. Overall we love the clean room,it was Not too spacious but it was alright. The bed is comfy but it's a bit too high than a normal bed. The shower is excellent I couldn't complaint more!

The hotel is incredibly well located right by Kings Cross St Pancras so perfectly placed for those travelling domestically or internationally! I’m a Londoner so was staying overnight to get an early train. Facilities are good and the room had so many power sockets which is a huge win!!! The room wasn’t huge but I was staying for one night so didn’t need it to be. The bed was super comfy and the room had good facilities. I didn’t have breakfast as I was meeting my friend but that also looked good from what I could see!

I found this gem by accident and I will definitely be back. Location is super convenient, just a short walk from Kings Cross/St. Pancras station.The hotel is clean and decorated thoughtfully with lots of character. The staff are lovely and very helpful. I highly recommend this place!

Great staff, very clean, nice cozy coffee and bar area with terrace. Rooms are minimalist and also quite cozy. Well run t and great location right next to Kings Cross. If you’re flying in and will be jet lagged and taking a train def consider The California. Other comments about noise are true, we stayed on a Saturday night. There’s a university nearby and a lot of young people living in the area so you do here them coming home. But most of us have been there so :). Also close to hop on hop off if you need to kill an afternoon while not going to bed too early.

The room is spacious and clean, very quiet too. Would definitely stay here again! Also the customer service is 10/10, the receptionist Adam was very helpful and kind.

Super comfy rooms, nice distance from the train station. Good accessibility to the main streets, good price. No problems would stay again.

I definitely give this hotel five stars. It's located in a very central but calm street right next to Kings Cross station, and the staff have been kind and very helpful in arranging things to help me with my wheelchair. The building is well kept and beautiful with its big old windows and winding hallways. I'm staying at a room with two single beds at ground floor, and I have breakfast included. The interior is quite simple, but it's all clean, light and practical. Contrary to many hotels, there is no fridge in my room, and I don't think there is air-conditioning in my room. There is a bar in the building, and many restaurants very close by. The beds are a little on the harder side of things, which I personally like. The room has a new and sound-proof window that can be opened to the courtyard, so it's easy to air out or to keep any noise out. The breakfast is English style of course. Would definitely come back!
