Wandsworth Prison Museum

Very good to visit, lots to read and see. We went on a open weekend, but believe it's normally open by appointment only, so check before travelling.
It's in the North car park, just past the main prison itself.
Curator was very knowledgeable, kind and helpful.
I'd say you probably would need to allocate an hour or so to visit.
Definitely glad I went.

An interesting museum on the perimeter of Wandsworth Prison. Open unusually to the public today. Other times, you must contact the prison to arrange a visit. Maintained by a volunteer called Stuart, who is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all aspects of the museum. Allow up to 1.5 hours.

We had a weekday appointment and Stewart was wonderfully informative and helpful. very interesting and full collection to see

The museum is small but worth a visit if you are interested in crime along the ages. There is a mixture of exhibits about both former inmates and prison guards. Newspapers articles to prisoner tags to the history of the prison and much more. You can expect to spend 20-40 minutes here depending on how much you want to read. I researched the Wandsworth area before visiting. I'm pleased to say I found it easy to get to (number 77 goes from both Waterloo and Vauxhall) and I felt safe walking through the residential streets to the prison (museum in the car park).
