Saravana Bhavan Croydon

This is a good place to bring vegetarians to (their meat dishes very good too). I've only encountered annoying vegetarians and so i steer well clear of vegans. I remember telling African children that lived in absolute poverty what being vegan meant and they didn't understand it.

Sarvana Bhavan is one of my favorite south indian restaurant chains. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough - they have an excellent variety of food and it is very authentic. My friend and I had their Mysore dosa and paratha with korma. It was really - it is mildly spicy but I really like that. It is also very reasonably priced and there is no service charge.

After recommendations I came to this vegetarian South Indian speciality restaurant and was not disappointed. They have a separate Vegan menu available, And the waiter gave recommendations as I didn't know what many of the options were. His correction was right! The dosa was so large! Everything was delicious. I highly recommend the fresh mango juice too. Friendly staff and excellent prices (a fresh juice and a filled dosa with dips would cost under £10) will have me returning here for sure.

Finally a South Indian restaurant in Croydon, having grown up eating at Sarvana Bhavan in india great to see it on the high street.

Wonderful, delicious Indian veg food no fuss. Also has a Jain menu.

I love Saravana Bhavan.
As well as Croydon you will find it in other countries where I first tried it.
However the Croydon branch has chocolate dosas.
Will be back for more food because it is so delicious.

Wonderful restaurant serving vegetarian only food. Being vegetarian only the have a good selection of Jain dishes as well, which is very rare to find in South London. Very good food and a nice ambience as well. Location is perfect for people using public transport as it's next to a tram stop. For people who drive there, there is no doorstep parking but a few parking options within walkable distance. Food was very tasty, authentic Indian flavours and aromas. Being a reputed chain of restaurants they haven't compromised on portions. Prices are not sky rocketed either, which makes it our best choice. Waiters are very friendly and always smiling providing excellent service. Though Saravana Bhavan is considered South Indian restaurants, they have a good menu of Punjabi (North Indian) cuisines as well. I will definitely be going there again and again... And recommend everyone reading this review to visit it at least once to taste what Indian food actually tastes like.

If you want authentic vegetarian Indian food, then you can't go wrong with this place. Consistently tasty, with a wide variety on the menu. I'm now a regular because I keep returning for the north Indian thali, I love it!! My only gripe is that I don't understand everything that's on offer, more detailed explanation on the menu would be nice, but most staff are more than willing to help you out.

Loved the Breakfast Combo meal with the Filter coffee. Hot meals and good service.

Good cheap food, really enjoyed it. Service was good too and the food came quick.

Had a few dishes here and have been very contented with them. Their sambar is really tasty and spicy. One rice of the day meal lunch offer is a big plate of food and a great bargain. Service is a little chaotic but easy to live with.

There I also a Jain section which makes it even awesome, good for vegan and vegetarian. Authentic food

Extremely High quality food and excellent taste. Very courteous and helpful service. Other reviews do not seem to do justice to this 5 Star place with impeccably clean, absolutely authentic South India restaurant.
Recently seem to have stopped take-away Wish they start this again. Best available vegetarian restaurant in East Croydon easily.

Great dosa. Baby corn starters were nice as well.. Will go back!

I usually visit at least once a week. Over time I am trying to work my way though the menu. The Dosas are really good and so many types! Love the Ghee rava masala Dosa and the Mysore masala Dosa. S Indian Thali is also good as is the Mushroom biryani. Just visited the restaurant for lunch; we were warmly welcomed, beautiful setting and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We each had a North Indian thalli which was delicious and the portions were more than generous. 10/10

Best south Indian meal I have had in any of the Sarvanaa Bhavans across London. The meal was delicious with variety of authentic South Indian delicacies. Sadly not all the branches maintain the same standards.
Service can be improved if the servers are more attentive but once again would like to emphasise on great South Indian meal

Good quality food keeping up with the brand name. Very kid friendly. Convenient location .

The North indian thali is quite generous portion. The buttermilk is flavour ful. Good and helpful staff. The sweets stand ia tempting as well.

We didn't know what to expect and the Dosa blew us away If you are used to bland food, then you will find the food a bit salty. Customer service needs improvement as when we went in the reception was poor. Overall a restaurant definitely worth visiting. Good central location if you live in or around the Croydon.

The food is always great and it's served very fast. Be prepared for it to be very hot! If you are missing your meat try the Chilli Paneer which our companion said tasted like a nice meat dish!
