What a treat to be able to squeeze this little and marvellous museum into my London visit!
I 100% recommend it, even if you are not into design, just for the building, which is incredible!
The top floors are free and have the permanent exhibition, whereas on the ground floor there are the temporary exhibitions, which you pay for like in other museums. Beautiful location, lovely cafe!

Really nice museum.
The permanent display - Designer, maker, user is great, with a lot of historical stuff on the design as well as the making and using of things around us, from computers to kitchens.
The other displays were interesting as well, relatively light in the depth and time you need to invest as a visitor which is nice.
Not a great museum for small kids, I think anyone under 6 will have very little to do here if at all.

The moment walked in, fell in love with it right away. Full of various design display, it’s joyful to walk around if you love design. Not a very big place, but it’s free of charge, very generous already. Worth to come if visit Kensington Garden / Hyde Park which are nearby.

although i find the main exhibition on
the top floor overwhelming and hard to digest due to its density, the museum showcased some interesting artifacts. it was cool to see some real pieces of critical and speculative design. the temporary exhibit on contemporary response to enzo was very cool. 1-3pieces from a collection of artists / studios spoke to different aspects of enzo’s design philosophy and each piece on their own was very powerful. the museum building has some thoughtful designs too, incl the materials for exhibit captions as well as sensor-based sinks in the bathrooms. the cons are that the cafe is poorly rated (but not surprised) and the design store is overly priced (again not surprised). overall, this is exactly what a world class metropolitan city like london should have, but there are still areas of improvements.

The Design Museum is a museum located in the South Kensington area of London, United Kingdom. It was established in 1989 and is situated next to Holland Park. The museum showcases a wide range of collections with a focus on product design, industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, and architectural design. It is a stylish museum that features a café inside where visitors can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee.

Another fantastic museum in London which is also free and located near famous Holland park and Kensington. It is not a big as other Kensington museums so I feel around 1-2 hours are more than enough to visit all artifacts. It does cover various aspects of design in our life and product displayed are from various eras are very interesting.
I will recommend plan your visit combined with visit to Holland park and Kensington high street and you will have plenty to do for entire day.

The design museum is situated on Kensington High Street and celebrates the cleverness and innovation of product design.
Throughout the generations, the importance of design and how it is perceived by the public has been the driving force when manufacturing groundbreaking products.
What is quite fascinating when you walk around the museum is that the number of items that once were at the forefront of technology have now been superceded.
The museum is housed in a building that epitomises cutting-edge design.

I went here to see the exhibit “Rebel: 30 Years Of London Fashion”. The exhibit I saw was well laid-out, and the facilities were aesthetically clean and didn’t impose too much on the attendees - ie what you’d want from such a place. Nicely done.

A lovely place to visit to get inspiration when you get a designer’s block.
Also, there is a whole wall of “vintage” devices from the yesteryears which made me feel nostalgic. Not sure if that’s a permanent exhibit. But it was a beautiful curation for one to walk down memory lane.

The museum tell us about history of design, about Designer, Maker and User. Why design is everywhere and around us. Many information about great designer Enzo Mari 1932 - 2020).
Interesting not only for beginners designers, but also for everyone.

Interesting 1-2hours tour for kids and adults. To get the them into design and building. The 2nd floor with building materials is definitely cool for kids whereas they are less familiar with vintage objects however seing some objects done with 3D printer is mind blowing for all the family. The shop is amazing with great books selection. Overall the atmosphere is very chill.

The Design Museum is a free museum that you'd expect to pay £20 or more to visit. The exhibits are thorough, engaging, and just plain fun! The museum has five level with two above ground and two below. Some of the exhibits are special rotating exhibits which do require a special paid ticket to visit. Besides those you're free to just walk on in and visit! There are no timed free tickets. Expect to spend 2-3 hours here or more.

I've visited the Design Museum multiple times and each visit has been a unique and inspiring experience. The exhibitions are thoughtfully curated, showcasing innovative designs from various periods and regions. From iconic classics to contemporary pieces, there's always something new to discover.
The museum's architecture itself is a feat of design, making the visit even more enjoyable. Whether you're a design enthusiast or simply curious, this museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of design. Highly recommended!
The gift shop at the Design Museum is a treasure trove of creativity and innovation. From beautiful art books to unique home decor, every item reflects a commitment to design excellence.
What truly impressed me was the quality and originality of the products. Each piece is carefully chosen, and there's something to appeal to every design enthusiast. While I was taken aback by the prices, which are quite high, I understand that this may be partly due to the current inflation situation in the UK.
Despite the costs, I highly recommend taking the time to explore the gift shop during your visit to the Design Museum. Even if you don't plan to buy anything, the experience of browsing these carefully curated items is inspiring in itself. A must-see for anyone with an appreciation for design!

It was really nice. I particularly enjoyed the display on the 2nd floor. Brought me the memories of visiting the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley. If you are planning to visit, do check out the visit. It also closes a lot earlier than the rest of the museum, so plan it accordingly

We really enjoyed our visit, a huge part of the museum has free entry, and lovely staff too!
Also, take the way through Holland Park to get there, such a lovely park!

Well set out and very interesting all so inspiring. The costumes were great to see. Plus the rest of the place was most interesting well worth a visit. The food and drinks was a great surprise not the cheapest but most enjoyable. This is a must go to place to visit. I have told all my family and friends the have to go and see for themselves.

Large, open modern space with different gallery themes. Two paid and two free areas.
It contains a cafe, store and other little areas focused on art.
The top floor is the best display and exhibition.
