Hostal Guajiro House

Our stay at Guajiro House was a great pleasure. The house is great, just five minute walk from the beach. It is clean and well equipped. You get a free minibar with sodas, beers, and water. Great addition to that is jacuzzi at the terrace. Another thing included in the price is a very tasty and large breakfast prepared by Michel every morning. All of that makes it 5* stay, but this is just the beginning. What makes the stay truly incredible is the way you are treated by Michel. In terms of kindness and caring for the guest, this was the most amazing stay of all our travels. We were surprised with homemade cocktails and treats that Michel left on the bed. On top of that, the most amazing was the dinner experience prepared by Michel. For just 50 dollars you get a 5 dish dinner for two person and a bottle of wine. Each dish was great, we didn’t leave a single crumb, and the langoustine prepared by Michel was the best I’ve ever eaten. It’s a shame you can give only 5 stars, because Michel definitely deserves more :)

Guajiro House is the place to be in Varadero.
Everything is perfect, Michel is very welcoming, available at any time you need, and cooks each day fresh food.
The jacuzzi is for sure a real plus.
And the outdoor is perfect to take time and enjoy your stay.
I would score 6/5 but unfortunately it's not possible.
I have never met a host such exceptional.

Michel is a unique host, attentive to every detail and puts passion into everything he does. The room is clean and extremely comfortable, with a lot of amenities (coffee machine, kettle, etc). The terrace is great for resting. Michel's breakfasts are incredible, with fresh products from the region (amazing fruit!) and I highly recommend the gourmet dinner prepared with love by him, where you will taste the best lobster and have a unique experience. I highly recommend Guajiro House, it is certainly a far better experience than any hotel in Varadero.

One of the best experiences my wife and I had booking a place. Guajiro House is absolutely beautiful and with an amazing terrace just a few minutes away from the gorgeous Varadero beach.
Michael and his family have been most kind and helpful - we especially enjoyed cocktail classes, tasty breakfasts, and personalized service.
Most of all, however, we enjoyed Michael's kind energy and the thoughtfulness he put into everything! Thank you so much for making our stay so unforgettable. Definitely recommend!

Guajiro House is definitely the place to stay in Varadero! Our stay was very comfortable and Michael and his family were super helpful and accommodating. The room was very nicely decorated and well appointed. The a/c worked great and was appreciated since we were there in July. It was the first time in 9 days that we got to sleep in the cool air (our other places only had fans)! The bed was fantastic!!! The breakfast was fantastic. Our whole stay there was A+++++
Plus it was only a short walk from probably the most beautiful beach I have ever seen! We also felt very safe walking in the community surrounding the place. If you're thinking of visiting Varadero stop looking and just book here. You won't regret it :)

2 more weeks, November 2022, enjoying that great Airbnb in Varadero. Everything is great: room, furnished terrace, breakfast, service and kindness. Michel is dedicated to the clients, we had another great experience. The place to be in Varadero !!! / From a previous stay: In a quiet neighborhood and a few steps from 1st Avenue and restaurants, this residence is very beautiful, well decorated and very clean. I stayed there for six weeks and had very good time. 5 minutes walking to the beach. Michel is a very available host and prepares meals with great attention. An excellent choice, a safe bet, to be considered without hesitation! Thank you Michel and Yudmila ! :-)

We had a really great time here, we loved the room at the upper floor and enjoyed the terrace. The room is well quipped and I think absolutely one of the best you can get in Varadero. Michael was a great host and served a really good seafood dinner! The calm beach is just a few minutes to walk and very nice, with fine sand and very clean water.

We stayed at the guajiro house in 2018 but we renember it very well and would recommend it to everyone who stays in Varadero.

We have stayed many places but never with a host more friendly and capable of making your stay an amazing experience. German is a great chef, bartender and travel guide and the private accommodations are so nice and fun we would not look anywhere else to stay while visiting Varadero.

We can't wait to return and spend a great vacation with German and his family. Such great food and drinks and we will always remember the awesome banana liquor that we had each evening while enjoying the beautiful and private patio and pool. The gorgeous beach is so close you can easily walk there anytime you please and the neighborhood is nice and quiet yet so close to bars, restaurants and local attractions.

I can totally recommend this amazing place. We enjoyed every detail, the matching decoration and the first class comfort room. The terrace with the cute pool was a litte paradise for us and the breakfast was very delicious. It is wonderful to see how the host Michael loves what he does and how he makes everything just perfect for his individual guests. Unfortunately our stay was in 2018, so we hope to be back soon.

This casa offers visitors exclusive occupancy of a dreamy 2nd floor. We are on our 2nd visit to this place and this time for a long term stay. Halfway through, the quality of the place confirms that paradise exists. Outstanding service, cleanliness of the premises, excellent food with fresh and varied products. Our hosts are incredible in terms of their friendliness, their contagious good humor, their professionalism, their helpfulness and their great respect for us. An intimate terrace with its small swimming pool which surpasses everything that exists in Varadero. A comfortable king size bed that makes us float like on a cloud. A fabulously exceptional beach for walks of miles and miles. A dream life within your reach, my ultimate choice without hesitation in Varadero!

This is going to be a long review (shortened for google), so for those that do not want to read a long review the quick answer is a five star review for every aspect of staying at this location if you are planning a trip to Varadero Cuba.

I am a spoiled American if there ever was one. I don’t eat at McDonalds and Burgerking, and when I travel I look for all-inclusive resorts that include food and drink packages for price and convenience. I have now stayed at Hostal Guajiro House twice and both trips have been magical. The US government does not want Americans staying in the all-inclusive resorts run by the Cuban government and its actually against the VISA issued of supporting the Cuban people (the easiest visa to procure should you want to visit Cuba).
So why? What makes Hostal Guajiro House different from all of the other rooms available?
Value for your Money – Likes I said I like to stay at all inclusive resorts. Not many hostels offer at no additional cost:
Free bottled water.
Two cold beers every day.
A full breakfast available completely at your convenience, flexible for when to serve. The eggs are farm fresh, there is always fruit, a small sandwich fresh squeezed juice and coffee and a sweet for dessert.
Private room, with your own entrance and key, bathroom and snack/coffee bar (air-conditioned).
Walking distance from the beach (its only 3 blocks and you are on the sand)

The room itself is very nice, the bed is comfortable. The bathroom has a full size shower with a modern rainfall shower head. The room is setup for both 220v and 110V, however I suggest bringing extra converters just in case. The Air-conditioner works well, there is a flat screen tv on the wall, however don’t expect a lot of channels. The ROOM HAS FREE WIFI – you have no idea the value of that until you find out your data rates on roaming in Cuba. You also get a beautiful private patio, with a working hot tub, lounge chairs and plenty of places to stretch out and relax. WIFI actually works better on the patio it’s a great place to just hang out.

The biggest reason to stay at Hostal Guajiro House is the host Michel (Michael). Michael aside from being a great chef is an incredible host. He speaks English very well and knows Varadero very well. He knows all the restaurants and is not afraid to give his honest opinion. We spent a lot of time in the room and on the patio, however when we did sneak out to the beach or dinner, Michael would come in and maintain the room, change the sheets, check the toilet paper supply, bring fresh towels, etc. He left chocolates and cookies on bed at and had some ready for our arrival. He was available whenever we needed him for whatever we needed. Directions to a restaurant or recommendations what to do for the day. Also I highly recommend you take Michael up on his additional offerings such as tapas night or the private patio meal (consisting of at least 3 courses, and a bottle of wine). He is a great chef and dedicated to maintaining this business.
There are some good restaurants nearby if you are willing to pay American prices $$$.
Top 3 for me - Palador Nonna Tina, Varadero 60, Waco Club – Michael knows all of them and can help you make reservations which are actually required days in advance at some of these restaurants. Plan accordingly we actually missed Nonna Tina the second trip due to conflicting schedules and their availability.
There are also some more reasonable priced options if you don’t want to spend $20-$30 per person.
Cuba is a little difficult when it comes to paying for things, American Credit cards and debit cards do not work, don’t depend on them for your life, make sure you bring plenty of cash. The exchange rate has been increasing in favor of the American dollar, but there is no standard so every restaurant, vendor, taxi may get different rates of exchange. All the restaurants seem to take US dollar, EUROS, or Cuban Pesos or any combination so long as you can make the exchange rate work.

This is the best Airbnb I have ever stayed in. This family is wonderful, the food is incredible, and the beach is excellent. I cannot recommend Michael and the guajiro house enough! I can’t wait to go back.

Very lovely and clean place with nice people there. The flat is just a few minutes away from the beach. You can also rent some bikes there to explore the surroundings.
