Hotel Sol Palmeras

Very pleasantly surprised! Been to Cuba over a dozen times, a little everywhere. This resort is the one where we ate the best so far! The staff is older and more experienced and manage to speak English and/or French for the most part. The majority of them were very kind and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Customer service was rapid and courteous. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel has age but is well kept! It’s full of charisma and character! The beach is beautiful and there are enough long chairs and palapas for all! Would (will) go back for sure! Thanks to the staff for a great vacation xxx

My family of 10 and I just got back from an amazing vacation at the Sol. The superior rooms and family suite rooms were nicely renovated and our maids were amazing. So kind and left sweet notes. The buffet staff were incredible to my family. Mirabel was a gem and always had our glasses filled. The beach ❤amazing! This resort was very clean and the food was very good. I’ve been to Cuba over 20 times and this resort had the best food yet. We decided to make a family tradition every year to come back to this resort for New Years. The only helpful critic I would give is the lobby staff need to be more attentive. In their defence however, I did see first hand some very rude tourists that frequented the lobby that were rude to the staff. Can’t wait to go back!

I love the hotel. I have visited it several times. Guest service is the best. A remarkable thing, I m a celiac, they were so helpful and helped all the time with my food issues.

This was first time for us and we loved it. The staff is amazing, our renovated Supreme room was beautiful. Our cleaning lady was so loving and even left us some notes. The food at buffet and servers were amazing, tremendous assortment. We tried all 3 alacarte and our favorite was Latino and Japanese. The beach was spectacular. We plan to come back and bring many of our friends back too. If you are reading this go to Facebook and check out Sol Palmeras and Friends of Sol Palmeras. This was our first time in Cuba, and we loved it. The hotel was very clean. The staff is really fun and friendly. The location is perfect, it's about a 10 minute drive to the center of Varedero where you can do some shopping. The hop on hop off bus was great for getting you around or just taking in the sites on the strip. The beach was amazing. The food was great! Everyone said the food was bad, but i found there to be lots of selection. If you love fish you will be happy! If you don't, they have pizza! I dont travel to eat. I travel to see and do things. We made many friends here and we will miss this place. Definitely will be returning to Cuba.

This is our second time at Sol Palmeras and while Cuba has it's particular drawbacks no matter where you go, food being the main complaint, this resort really impressed us with it's diversity of clientele from all over the world, beautiful facilities and plenty of entertainment. The beach never disappoints, the staff are friendly and the whole resort feels like a big family. Special thanks to Miguel in the Animation team for teaching us how to dance like the locals, and to the rest of the team for some great volleyball games and overall energy and fun. Huge thanks to the bar and service staff - Yunier, Ernesto, Vladimir and many others for the most beautiful and delicious cocktails and fantastic service. The resort is also getting an upgrade and will have newly renovated rooms, as some are currently fairly dated.

So I will start this review off with its amazing how people from other Resorts will straight up lie about what you post and when you post it. I will reveal the rest at the end of this review.

We stayed from Jan 11 2024 - Jan 18 2024

This resort was amazing. It's about as close to a 5 star resort in Cuba as you can get. (There are no real* 5 star resorts in cuba) but everything here food and the staff was amazing. We never had a shortage of food, toilet paper or anything at all. When leaving we spoke to so many people about food shortages and many other things in other resorts in Cuba. NOT HERE, and the cleaning, I mean constantly you see them cleaning the floors sweeping & mopping, lobby bathrooms outside inside. I don't think even in Canada I have ever seen so many people cleaning. It was awesome. We stayed in the Bungalows and ours was nice it had a vintage vibe a little older but still nice and they are doing renovations on everything. Again cleaning our rooms everyday they come and mop and sweep everything, new towels and sheets every day and she was always making something cool with the towels as you can see in one of the pictures.

The food, where do I begin everyone told us all you will eat is pork. Oddly enough I could barely even find it. We had chicken roasted and BBQ < was soo good, beef, shrimp, calamari, muscles and a sea food jambalaya among so many other options. Many different kinds of veggies and fruit. Every morning there was always eggs we never ran out like other Resorts did, bacon, this pork patty which was really good and home fries, fries ect ect I wish i had taken a picture of all the food there, there are 3 separate buffet areas all with different food for breakfast, lunch and supper.. The staff was always so happy we also ate at all 3 of the restaurants. My favorites were the Latino and Chinese restaurants but make sure you try all 3. At the Latino restaurant we had this appetizer that was fried banana with meat and cheese. It was amazing. I highly recommend trying it at least once. I added a picture of it as well to see. Great food all around! The ice cream outside was also great our favorite flavor was strawberry.

The beach was also awesome always clean only 1 day there was seaweed and that's because we had 10ft waves from a storm lol but! The next day it was all gone and everything that washed up on the beach was raked up and removed, we never had or saw seaweed again and the water was amazingly clear and the sand was great.

Honestly I'm soo happy we picked this resort based on some of the stories we heard from people from other Resorts. (1 example a couple drank to much and he threw up in their sheets they just flipped it over and didn't change it until after asking multiple days they finally did) lol gross

So personally if you are planning on coming to Cuba I would most definitely give this resort a try. I will definitely be back next year.

As for the story, so on Facebook we posted a video of the buffet table on the Sol Paramas Facebook page. We had "people -- other resorts lol" saying we were lieing and that was last year or before covid ect. We had literally taken a video at lunch and posted that same day. So, while it's good to check reviews of places you want to visit, be careful because competition is high for other resorts in Cuba, and honesty might be lacking.

Spent the week of November 18 to the 25, 2023 at Sol Palmeras in Varadero Cuba. Best trip yet!! Food was excellent and we didn’t run out. The rooms have been upgraded and comfortable. They provided clean sheets daily. Our maid was awesome and kept our room immaculate all week. Staff were amazing and very friendly. I’d like to mention Idelmis and Jaqueline our servers in the dining area. They certainly took care of us and made our time so much fun. I have to say that all staff at this hotel are very friendly hard working individuals. Loved our stay and will be returning next November again. Can hardly wait!

It’s Cuba and this resort represents exactly what Cuba offers. It’s simple. Pay to play. If you want cleaning service in your room, tip your room keep. If you want service at the bar, tip your bartender. If you want the maintenance staff to appreciate your presence, tip them too. This is how Cuba works. You dictate your experience by how kind you are to the Cuban people.

If you’re entitled and looking for fault, you’ll find it. If you’re there to understand and respect Cuban culture, do so properly.

If you’re whining about food, don’t go to Cuba, that’s not what it’s for.

I took my kids, 10/12. It was a history/culture lesson for them and they learned a lot about the Cuban people. They understand and accept their role within a resort.

Sol Palmeras is awesome. If you’re a family, stay in the bungalows. The beach is always close. 1-2 minute walk, barely.

I just read a review where someone wanted to punch out the beach staff for doing their job. That gentlemen should stay home and never travel. If your first instinct is to swing at someone for doing their job, you aren’t welcome in Cuba.

was here un this resort in chrismas with my family, and we had an amazing holidays, the staff, the food, I ate here the best pizzas ever. The room always was so clean, the people where so helpful with us. I will try return to this paradise. I love this beach, I love this country. Gex experience guys are the best.

Went to Cuba last April with a group and family to play baseball. We stayed at Sol Palmeras for 1 week, and what a nice time we had. Everything was just perfect: food was good, rooms were nice and clean, and the beach is amazing. But above all, the staff is incredible. For all the years going to Cuba I can say this hotel has the best group of people that I witnessed. Very special thanks to Jorge Luis that took care of our baseball group and made it all possible. Also, thanks to Alex for his implication and good vibes with the group. There are so many people that I can't wait to see, but also a special thanks to Wilber, Noel, Osiris and Nivia for all the time and attention. Can't wait to see you all again on April 6th.

The best resort.Thanks to Dayana in customer services, she really helped us with our accomodations. They are all a great team. The areas are all clean and the food is amazing.The staff of front desk is very kind.I will be back

Wonderful place, very nice hotel and resort, amazing room very, very comfortable and cosy, very clean, awesome space balcony with very nice view on the pool area, wonderful big lounge with live music and of course absolutely amazing coffee from very nice coffee machine ☕ very, very testy specially thanks for them, very good inside area with beautiful palms. Recently went back to this resort in Varadero. Although the weather wasn’t the best the week we were there, the location, cleanliness and service at this resort made up for the bad weather.

Fantastic trip the service is amazing all the staff were amazing and so friendly everyone was in a grate mood and the over all energy was great and Dayana at the service desk was so helpful with organising trips and activities. Amazing place to stay.

Hotel Sol Palmeras is an older hotel, but the staff is amazing and the food was very good especially in Cuba.
And it has a big beautiful beach.
The lobby is very elegant

We had great time in Sol Palmeras, the staff is amazing ( except for reception staff- check in was not a pleasure experience). We were not going hungry and there was always something to drink.

Great hotel! The beach and pools are amazing, really enjoyed playing water polo. The food was much better than we were told to expect, and there was lots of variety but with the taste a little different from what you'd expect. Highly recommend for people with families as there are lots of kid-friendly activities.

The rooms are a little tired but the hotel is remodeling. But you really can't beat the location or the service. An excellent hitel
