This hidden gem is beautiful, full of bats, unforgettable experience! The guide who sells tickets speaks many languages and tells stories about the place.

One of the best places to visit in Varadero, with important archaeological remains and an ecological relic. It is not expensive and there is a guide who helps and gives you an important introduction before you enter.

Absolutely fantastic, seems the holes in the roof align with sunrise of Solstice, the circular ditches which look like fires are actually burials.
Cave paintings all over the place lots of bats which are harmless.

It absolutely astonishing we spent about 90mins in there exploring it gets very humid but absolutely worth going goes back thousands of years before colonial times.

It's an absolute must see just don't touch the art as you will damage it,

There are bats in the cave which are really what make the experience very cool. It is nice for an hour or 2, the cave isn't all that big. The bats are benign. I went there with my boyfriend, very fun, and felt kind of bad for the poor bats since they were sleeping. There were (supposedly) some indigenous paintings on the walls but there weren't all that many and I found them dubious though I'm no archaeologist.

Guide was very knowledgeable and very accommodating for small and large groups - it's a short tour, but then you are free to explore on your own.

I love this place so much I returned with my daughter so she could see the 5 different species of bats flying around the cave. Wow what a natural wonder. I have done 8 caves so far in Cuba and this one is small but SOOOOO interesting. It has the most tribal art and some of it goes back 2000 years. When you are done rent a taxi for the day and go swim in Saturno Cave, visit La Dionisia Cafetal, visit Cueva Bellamar on your way to visit Matanzas. So much to see and do. Do NOT go on a tour. Just rent a taxi. If you are on a budget just share the taxi with other tourists.

Fascinating place to explore the local wildlife, geology and learn a bit about the history of the region. I enjoyed the guide’s interpretation and knowledge. Thanks for showing us around Rene!

Very interesting caves. You do have to crawl in to see the interesting parts. The natural habitat there is very humid and hot. It's a short walk but you will need some cash for refreshments afterwards. Oh bring bug spray if you are a mosquito magnet.

Wonderful place to wonder around and see nature first hand. Wear shoes as the pathway is rough in places.

The cave was quite a bit bigger than I expected it to be. It was also completely dry, which surprised me as I saw from other posted pictures that the cave had water on the ground.
There were also less bats than I expected, but maybe that is a good thing as we did not feel nervous about the few that were flying around. Lots of bats were hanging from the ceiling, were we could look at them nicely. There were drawings on the walls that the cave guide told us were pre-Columbus, but I strongly doubt that. Most likely pre-2018. Still it was a great cave and cool to see the underground formations.

5 CUC to get in...on the hop on hop off bus route. Tour Guide has been working there 20 years. Some nice cave formations and lots of tiny fruit bats.

A few minutes walk from the Royalton Hicacos resort. The cost is 5 cuc per person. There is a guide who shows you around and explains the history of the cave. There are drawings on the wall as well as a lot of bats, who are harmless.

If you are staying anywhere in Varadero, take the time to go underground at Cueva de Ambrosio. Admission fees: bonus guide with a flashlight. Bring a flashlight! Bring the kids!

We were nearing the end of our stay and had not yet visited Varahicacos Ecological Reserve, which is the kind of thing that happens when you travel with a group with different interests. Not only was it the last day but a short hour before the park closed (sunset).

A complete cave experience for a novice: Vegetation, geology, pictographs, fauna and flora! The caves have high ceilings (over 8 feet). Though the occasional openings you can see the trees and vegetation growing above, but there are the odd plants whimsically growing on the cave floor. As you walk from ''room'' through ''room'', there are bats, stalagmites and stalactites, an interesting selection of pre-columbian (maybe) cave drawings and visible stratification of stone, pebbles and fossilized vegetation formed by ancient dunes.

For $5 admission, a bat cave was promised, and a bat cave was delivered. A short walk or bus ride from most of the resorts. Now everyone keep quiet and minimize the flashlights, the residents of the batcave are trying to sleep.

It was neat to see the bats and the cave paintings. The tour guide was interesting. Worth the price of admission!
