Varadero Golf Club

We came here for a lesson. We tried to book by emailing, but had no reply, so we chanced a taxi ride over for 9am. Fortunately, Guillermo was available to give us a fantastic introductory lesson, even though it was a Sunday as well. We were extremely appreciative of him giving his time to us and loved meeting him. Definitely recommend for anyone considering a lesson!

****Very Important Notice***

Please note that all the golf carts were destroyed in a fire just over a month ago. The golf course is doing everything they can to keep things running. They have borrowed/rented, trolleys, luggage, and maintenance carts from other resorts for golfers to rent (still $33usd per golfer). At this time, they have 68 cart seats, but you might be sitting on the back of a flatbed cart. Some people were aware of this and brought their pull carts as they are now allowing walkers. Most who have walked it said they would never do it again – too hot/humid and long.
As of the last week in November, there were several groups of 20-50 golfers from Canada. This has made it impossible to get on the course for some. You will now see large groups of 6 and 7 golfers playing all at once. The trolleys (10-seater) have a chauffeur and he drives cart path only.
The people at the course are doing everything they can. So please do not take your anger or frustration out on them………it is out of their control. They had asked me to inform people of the situation as they have no means to. If you have booked here, please contact the course to see if they have tee times. It may take months to secure golf carts, so please check a head.
The course is in good shape since they lost their maintenance equipment now and are doing everything manually.

Beautiful course can be tough if you're an average golfer. Winds blowing hard at times can make shot making difficult. Played 3 rounds teeing off first thing in the morning just as the sun was coming up. Course was in great shape.

The course doesn't look like much from the road but it is actually a beautiful course. It plays well, good pace and some beautiful views as you play along the water. The staff are friendly and it will cost $66cuc for club and cart rental. The rental clubs are actually good (Taylormade if I recall correctly). The food from clubhouse was good afterwards and pretty cheap. I did get sick later that night, not sure if there is a correlation or not.

Super course, excelllent service from wonderful personnel there....our 4some was treated like kings. Thank you staff and management at Varadeeo Golf Club!! You guys rock!!!

Varadero Golf Club, the first 18 hole Golf Course in Cuba, was designed by architect Les Furber, President of the Canadian company Golf Design Services LTD (GDS). It covers a narrow 3.5 Km strip located between "Breezes SuperClubs ", LTI "Tuxpan", "Bella Costa", Meliá "Las Américas", "Golf & Suites Resort", "Meliá Varadero","Sol Club Palmeras", and "Sol Club Sirenas" hotels. The club has everything to make a great day of sports and meeting nice people.

We really enjoyed this golf club. We played four rounds there.

We had a lesson which was great. Choppy the pro is really lovely.

The course is set over a big area which a nice selection of holes. You need to have a buggy as the walk is too long.

I don't know how this cannot have a 5-star rating. This course is very well maintained, and the staff is super friendly. I believe it can be expensive to play, but get a resort that includes this in the price. We stayed at Breeze Varadero (which is now Los Cactus) and it was great. You have to pay for a cab to get to the resort the first day as there isn't a shuttle, however after that you make arrangements with the golf course to pick you up each day at your hotel. They come and get you in the golf cart shuttle. Each resort along the way has gates along the fence, so they can hop out and hop on the course again. You can also store your clubs at the course for free. It is totally safe, we have not ever had a problem and I've been back 3 times. I would say in that time frame I've played a total of 20 rounds of golf at this course and loved each one of them.

Stunning views from the 9th and 18th holes that you just cannot love. you are up a cliff on the course about 60 feet from the beach and ocean below and blue ocean as far as the eye can see.

CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK and get in a few more rounds!!

It is a beautiful Caribbean golf experience. Front 9 is straight forward and can be for giving. Back 9 is challenging and would not recommend it for a novice. I definitely agree
with the required cart to golf. It is the longest course I've ever played ☺

I played here in May, 2017. I am an avid golfer and have played many courses. Although this wasn't the absolute best course I have ever played it was very close. The picturesque views from #9 and #18 along the water are worth the greens fees itself! We were treated nicely and our online reservation was confirmed with no problem. Greens were ok, not great but fairways and tees boxes were well done. They also have a driving range, putting green and chipping area (a rarity sometimes). The food from the clubhouse was also pretty good. We rented clubs and they had right and left handed Taylormade's. I highly recommend the course if you are in Varadero or even from Habana which is where we traveled from.

Whoa. On the ocean, views astonishing from some of the holes. Take the cart, leave the cannoli! Hot + long holes, water and cart. Cuba is a tentative experience for me. Poverty so close made me feel a little odd here.

Great course. Well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. I recommend staying at the resort's to get the free rounds because its generally expensive.

Nice layout with as few spectacular holes. A test of golf for all levels. 18th is breathtaking.
