Galaxy Cinemas Nanaimo

According to my Google location history, I have visited this location 102 times in the past seven years. That's a lot of movies...and there's more than one theatre in town. Eek! Anyhow, this location is great. It's got a little arcade in the front area and some extended food options like frozen yogurt and pizza. But those options are hit or miss as far as being open is concerned. It's hard to find staff these days.

The star feature here is those lovely plush leather reclining seats. Very roomy, very comfortable, and definitely the way your tush knows that movies were meant to be watched. The food is always good, the staff are always awesome, the theaters are always clean. What more can I say? If I had tonsay anything negative at all, sometimes the washrooms are a little rough - but the patrons being gross is not the fault of the theatre. Public washrooms are what they are.

In comparison to the other theatre in town - this is where you want to be for the seats alone. The seats in the other one are terribly uncomfortable, squished too close to other seats, and the auditoriums are always ice cold. Here, the seats are heavenly, and the temperature is just right.

Electric recliners are so comfortable that you may fall asleep if you're watching a slower movie.

I was unimpressed by their sound system and projectors resolution.
The pixels were massive and very distracting.
The sound system was underwhelming. Honestly, for it being a dolby audio setup, i thought it lacked bass and sounded muffled when anything was going on in the background of the scene while characters were talking.
I have a 7.2.2 dolby atmos setup at home that i swear sounds better than their sound setup. I watched the same exact movie at the theater (Wonka), and then the next day, i watched the same movie at home (Wonka). And i felt like voices were much more crisp and clear. And i wasn't fighting so hard to hear all the little surround sound features on my own at home system. Not to mention the projectors' massive pixels. I dont think ill be going back there too often unless they upgrade their surround sound systems and projectors. Why pay buckets of money to go to the theater of im getting much better quality and overall experience from the comfort of my home.

My favorite theater in Nanaimo. The lounge/recliner seats make the experience! We hadn't been to the movies in a long time and we came here and truly enjoyed the experience. And the popcorn is always a must and a cold Coke! Value is better than I remember many years ago but still a good $50 for a couples night out, but worth it if the movie is good!

Nice place to grab a movie. They have a really nice and comforting atmosphere. Their seats recline automatically which is a huge plus. Their seats are comfy and very high end. There are ample space for moving between seats and navigating. The cashiers were numerous which made waiting in line done in a jiffy. The food in the movies can be a bit pricey as of any movie venue. They also have an arcade with handfull of enjoyable games to play.

Comfy, oversized, leather power reclining chairs means you can enjoy that 3.5 hour movie in comfort.

I drive up here from Duncan every time I want to watch a movie. The chairs recline and have nice cushion on them. Great place for date night and I prefer this cinema over going to Victorias cinemas. The movie rooms seem clean bathrooms could use work but the staff are on it if you ask. Safe are nice and friendly just remember it is being run by teens so be nice to them.

Super comfy power recliner seats. It's a great theater. Good concession, arcade and vending machines. Takes a while to get in right now due to covid you have to show passports and I'd. So show up a bit early. Lots of parking. Clean like it should be. Make sure you become a scene member to take advantage of better deals.

Love the leg space and the reclining seats very roomy. Saw Wonka great movie.

First time back into a packed theatre and not a mask in sight. Kinda nice to see life return to nrmal. The movie experience was so much better than pre-pandemic. Every seat in the house is a leather recliner with more head, shoulder, and leg room than I could have imagined. The Galaxy theatre hold about 100 people and as such, there doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the house. Great experience.

The reclining seats are AMAZING! I won't go anywhere else.

Clean and comfortable. The reclining chairs coupled with stadium-stle tiered seating, and your ability to reserve tickets online make this one of the nicest cinema experiences I have ever had. Main washrooms are up a flight of stairs, but there is an accessible washroom on the main floor. The back row has room for wheelchairs, and the spacing between rows makes it easy for someone with mobility issues to keep their equipment with them, and to get in and out easily.

Couldn't make the movie due to unforeseen circumstances. They were happy to refund our tickets without hesitation. Clean place with friendly staff.

There is young guy named Caleb he is so kind nd love his work ethics. Very polite helpful. His parents must be proud 👏 🥲
