Rustica

After years of fancy steak houses including Chucks steakhouse in Banff( which is no slouch when it comes to the tomahawk steaks), Sidecut Modern Steak in Whistler B.C, Lavenderia in Montreal, and the Guild in Calgary (known for tasty aged steaks and delicious wines), I think we have found our number 1. The. Way they cook the Elk Sous Vide style is like nothing I have ever had. I won’t go into detail about the flavour out of respect of the chef and his own signature flavour, but I will say that it melts in your mouth. The service here was 10 star, and the fact that it was our anniversary and for them to acknowledge that within the dessert, just made it that more special. What an amazing view we had during our dinner! Thank you for a 10 out of 5 stars food and service performance. Can’t wait for our next visit.

Fantastic restaurant, the service was great and the food was amazing. I had the lamb, the crust on it was perfect and the sour cherries in the sauce were divine! He had the steak and was really impressed. We had a the coffee crunch bar for dessert… wow! I asked for the recipe but that was a nogo.
Highly recommend checking this place out! It was so warm and inviting with a huge fireplace.
The only thing that seemed out of place was the orchids on the plate, seems like such a waste for a beautiful flower and it didn’t really match with the rest of the theme. No one asked me but I would suggest decorating the space with them and letting them grow over having them in a position to be tossed in the trash.
We will certainly come back.

I loved the location and feel of Rustica. Outside of the busy downtown Canmore, surrounded by mountain backdrop and a wood beam interior combined with the smell and sounds of a cracking fire. Felt like I was in a Wiser's commercial. The server was down to earth and very helpful and the experience was topped off by a ridiculous meal. We had the prime tenderloin, lobster tail and risotto and all were excellent and the steak was cooked to perfection.

The service and views were amazing. The ambience was nice and the music selection was perfect for a steakhouse. I really enjoyed the drinks and appetizers. Complementary bread and palette cleanser was good. The dessert was delicious. I felt the steak could of been more charred but overall I think the steakhouse was very good.

Amazing steakhouse that is very accommodating of food allergies. They ensured the steak would be prepared in a safe manner, and still were able to provide a nice amount of sides. Staff was professional and very attentive. The interior was very pretty, with nice large windows overlooking the golf course. Highly recommend. Thank you for such a great experience!

We visited this restaurant on a rainy night. A last-minute decision. We were very happy with the beautiful space. The lighting and music were perfect. Our server, Isabella, was amazing. She knows the dinner and drink menu through and through. Super friendly, the food was the best I've had. We will be back. Thanks, Isabella, and the rustica kitchen staff for the best experience.

My girlfriend and I came here recently and we were blown away by the food and service! Our server was Stephanie, she took amazing care of us and made our date night feel so special! 10/10 we will definitely be back again!

Amazing food in a beautiful location pretty much sums up our experience.
We were on the last leg of our banff trip and decided to get a nice meal before we left. Rustica was a great note to end off of.
We ordered the Bison rib eye and the Elk tomahawk.
Both were cooked beautifully and tasted wonderful especially with the garlic mash and mixed vegetables.
Our server was attentive even though he was quite busy and the view was magnificent.

What a dining experience. Isabelle was a delight as our server. Attentive to our water glasses, went above and beyond when asked if they could make a brandy old fashioned, and was a huge help helping my wife select the perfect Gin drink.

We enjoyed the smoked chicken breast and ribeye with extra sides of mushrooms and truffle oil risotto.

The smoked chicken was perfectly tender and each bite had an aroma of smoky flavour. The ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium and the side mushrooms were the perfect pairing.

We saved some of the mango tequila butter and it melted perfectly onto a few bites of the ribeye adding a bit of extra wow factor.

We wanted to try dessert but there simply wasn't the will power to push through the satiated feeling.

The views of the golf course and mountains were simply majestic.

Wow. First off who knew this place was even here. Far above Canmore at the Silvertip Golf Resort on a winding road is a stunninf dining experience.

The facility is rustic...beautiful wood frame and beams. Gorgeous paintings adorning the walls. Well placed lighting. And windows all around to take in the stunning scenery.

Our waitress was so engaging and helpful. She chatted with us long into the night even after our dinner was long since finished.

The dinner itself was phenomenal. The selection of meat cuts ranges across all price points for whatever your budget allows. They also have Australian and Japanese wagyu on the menu.

I'd give it six stars if I could. We'll definitely be back.

Incredible location with stunning views. Professional wait staff that knew their menu and wines. Fantastic food, 16oz steak with potatoes and salmon was amazing for 2. Palette cleansers and appetizers were also top notch. Highly recommended, but expensive!

Rustica is a world class restaurant. Hands down the best restaurant I been to so far. The ambience in this place is so calming, they play such peaceful music. Able to have a conversation with your table. Our server Isabellea was the bomb! She went over and beyond for us, as this was the day I proposed to my girlfriend. She picked up flowers just like I requested and had them set up on the table. She also got the chef to make us an amazing arrangement with our dessert, cheesecake, which was to die for. Dinner was amazing, I have never had my walleye done the way it was done. Always fry up my walleye. My girlfriend really enjoyed her steak as well. I did try the frog legs as well, so intriquing but I enjoyed them. Rustica, you guys put the cherry on top of my beautiful day. We will definitely be back and thanks for the lifetime memory.

My husband and I were on our way to Banff when we asked a Canmore friend about where we should eat. She suggested Rustica and I am SO happy we went there! It was our wedding anniversary and we haven't been away (just the two of us) for over a decade. I had the tenderloin and my husband had the seafood risotta (part of a special menu for May). Generous portions, outstanding flavour, and beautiful presentation. The ambience is beautiful and the views were stunning. Our waitress was wonderful and I'm sorry I didn't catch her name, but she was lovely. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the chef for preparing such a memorable meal.

A truly hidden gem in Canmore. Our child asked how we booked the entire restaurant for us? Such an amazing view of nature, with snowflakes upon us, while enjoying the warmth of a real fire. The service was impeccable, and meal very tasteful. Steph has been one of the best in Alberta to take care of us. From a well travelled individual, highly recommended!

The food tonight we superb. We are from Las Vegas and are used to a high level of five star, five diamond service. This is what we received tonight. Our servers Stephanie and Ryan were attentive, friendly, and timed our courses well. The oysters, Alberta lamb, porterhouse steak, truffle risotto, scallops, and garlic mashed potatoes were to all top notch. I would definitely come back to this establishment and I give the chef and staff full kudos for making our anniversary dinner with family one to remember.

Probably the best overall meal we had in Canmore.

This place is located in the Silver Tip resort area above Canmore. It's a little bit outside of the main town.

Directions will take you to the golf house as there is also a golf course located here. The building is on the far right as you look towards the mountains from the parking lot - there is no sign on the outside.

Once you enter there is a shop selling golf pro shop on the right but just keep walking down and you'll see Rustica to your right.

The restaurant is very nicely appointed and has nice big windows to gaze outside. Everything looked very clean and spotless.

We both tried ordered the set course menu for $55. It included an appetizer (soup of the day, spinach salad or shrimp cocktail), main entree (flat iron steak, steelhead trout or pasta orecchietta) and dessert (creme brulee, chocolate mousse or raspberry and chocolate sundae).

Shrimp cocktail is an interesting version and the shrimp were fairly small...although you do get 6 or 7 of them. 3 stars.

Soup of the day was Corn Chowder. This serving was huge. Bigger than most places bowl of soup for a full order. The corn chowder itself was pretty good.3 stars.

Flat Iron Steak. This was cooked perfectly and so tender and flavorful. It comes pre sliced served on some crunchy and flavorful steakhouse cut fries, carrots, bell peppers and squash. Everything served on this plate was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing! 5 stars

Raspberry and chocolate sundae- this was also very good. It comes served in a tall glass with what seemed like a really thick chocolate mousse, actual raspberry blend, vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and a cherry on top. This dessert hit all the right notes and was very refreshing after the heavy steak entree. 4.5 stars.

Finally our servers were so great. I unfortunately cannot recall their names but we were there at 1700 when they opened for dinner on Wednesday, September 18. 10 stars for the staff!

Update: May 2022. Went here again and it was awesome just like the first time. Added pictures of their current menu and prices. Thank you very much to our helper Steph who made the evening that much better.

Coming from Las Vegas I have high expectations and wasn't sure this place would be up to my usual standards. I'm more than impressed not only with the service but the food the chefs prepared was beyond exceptional. Stephanie and Ryan's service was absolutely 5 star across the board, from the drinks to the risotto the chef did not hold back on the truffle. Thank you Chef Nick,Jeff and Peter.

We booked our very small wedding reception on the upper level of the Rustica. We didn’t have much time to plan but the staff there made it effortless. They went above and beyond to make our day so special. I can not express my full gratitude for the service we were provided. The venue is nothing short of breathtaking, the staff are just amazing and the food is phenomenal. I am a vegan and they didn’t hesitate to accommodate my needs. I was amazed by the flavour of the gnocchi! They even had almond milk for my post meal coffee. The prices were also incredibly reasonable. My husband and I frequent the Canmore area and that was our first time dining there but definitely will not be the last. I recommend this restaurant highly to all in the area!

Good, scenery, and service : excellent.

We choose this location for our 20th anniversary dinner and it didn’t disappoint. With a nice view of the mountains in the background and beautiful tasty food.
