Small shopfront near Coles in the Port Village Shopping Centre off Macrossan St. Open 7 days. Good selection of newspapers, magazines and books. Also various cards, stationary and gifts. Lotto and scratchies. Display of bargain books at the front.

Always greeted with a smile even visible with masks on.

What you would expect from a newsagent

I really don't like posting bad reviews and I like supporting small businesses, but the customer service was non existent and the prices in the crafts section were excessive.
I wanted to return a some coloured paper because it cost three times as much than at Kmart, which I realised after the purchase.
The woman at the counter didn't want to return it, because my son had it in his hands when we bought it. She had to inspect it very thoroughly to find some "damage" on the side the cover. Who knows if it was there before we even purchased it? Anyway, I actually wanted to exchange the product for something else and would have spent more money there. But since she refused to refund us, I decided to rather spend my money somewhere else.

Our adult daughter went in to buy a card and 39 scratchies for our 39th wedding anniversary and was served by a sassy rude girl. She demanded to see ID (our daughter is 29). Our 17 year old niece was also there but was not the one buying our gift and was simply standing to one side waiting. The girl refused to supply the scratchies and was still demanding they both supply ID (why would someone not buying scratchies have to supply ID?). My daughter did have ID somewhere in her bag (they had just returned from a boat trip to the reef so her bag was crammed full of items). The girl was just wanting to do the sale for the anniversary card and was trying to put that through. The girl was so rude that they just walked out and went to the supermarket and purchased a card and flowers from there instead. After relaying this bizarre story to a local at another business, the local said the same thing had happened to her. She went in to purchase scratchies as a gift for someone and they wouldn't sell them to her because she had her 10 year old child with her. Absolutely mind boggling.

Absolutely rude owner serving from behind counter, we asked to but a few stamps to post our postcards to friends and was asked if we purchased our cards from her, we replied that we had brought them from Cairns the day before she then rudely said oh so you are using our pens, I replied umm yeah we are purchasing your stamps, such a rude old lady so we asked for our money back and walked out

Poor service rude woman at the counter didn't ask if we had signed in and we didn't because l had no phone then thought my granddaughter was buying a scratchy she wasn't.
