Amazing place to play snow.

But be careful because I almost jumped to the hidden pond while sledding.

Its super freezing, which u can tell by looking at the pics, so wear enough clothes and shoes to protect your body,hand,feet from being cold burn! Wearing body warmer is also a good ideas

I have experienced Dead Horse Gap in all seasons travelling Alpine Rd...
Elevation is 1570mts above sea level with amazing views of on 1 side looking down towards Thredbo Valley & the other looking towards Victoria...

Spring offers beautiful cool air with amusing wild flowers & the last part of the snow season...

Summer offers great hiking trail with big march flys that like to bite you & sunscreen is something to think about...

Autumn is the time for a lot of fun again with great hiking trails as the temperature starts to cool off...

Winter, it can be a (dangerous) place if you are not used to driving in snow. Snow chains need to be carried with you & very warm chothes...

The name Dead Horse Gap is known as the Brumbies in winter, getting stuck and dying in the area...

Went there in winter season. This is the one of the best places in Thredbo to play with snow. The main road is 2WD accessible as the snow plough keeps clearing the road. However, beyond that is thick snow. There are days reserved for skiing and snow play at the ski resort. Since I only wanted to have a play with the snow, I couldn’t get into the ski resort on a Saturday as it was only reserved for skiers that day. But it wasn’t an issue as we drove past it and found a place by the side of the road to enjoy. Entrance to the conservation park requires a ticket which you can buy at the entrance. It was busy at the park that day given it’s a Saturday with heavy snow fall.

Another place for play toboggan or tobogganing when Perisher Valley is Full. Same thick snow ❄ just the parking space not plenty.

Accessible ‘wilderness’ area of the park. Incredible ‘forever’ views on both sides of the alps on a clear day. Just ten minutes further up the hill past Thredbo so definitely check it out.

Best place for snow play near Jindabyne, don’t bother heading up to Perisher unless you’re skiing or boarding.

Lovely spot with great views. A really nice spot for kids to play and toboggan away from the crowds. We also went for a short snow shoe walk which was very nice.

Awesome view as you come over the crest in both directions. Parking on the southern side of the road. Worth a look
