Seamans Hut

Great spot to shelter from the weather.
We got smashed by storms as we arrived so was great to put on a fire and dry out.
There was a school trip of about 10 lads who were on day 18 of 20 day trip.
It was a bit tight but good spirits all round

A sad story of adventurous lives lost and how the hut was built by family to provide lifesaving shelter for lost travellers. Very well maintained and a beautiful sight in the mountains.

This hurt is a good place to put your feet up for a moment. Lots of people pass through so dont expect to have a sleep

Lovey and leisurely walk available between Charlotte’s Pass and Seaman’s Hut. Spectacular views, and good facilities at the hut itself.

This place is a great place to visit taking a side trip from Rawsons Pass on the way up to the summit of Kosciusko. It’s approximately a 5 km round trip turning left at Rawsons Pass and walking past the toilets in your tight. When you get to the hut you’ll find a place to step out of the weather if it’s not great or you can sit close by the hut and enjoy the scenery. The hut is steeped in history so make sure you go inside to learn about the originals and also the very sad and fateful story of the snow boarded who lost their lives close by a few years back. It’s a beautiful place to sit and reflect on life and how lucky we are to have these amazing places where we can experience nature...xx

A beautiful little emergency shelter hut that is a few km from Mt Kosciuszko just off the summit road. Not for general public use as a place to stay overnight but maintained by the National Park as a refuge in bad weather.

Very well built hut, inside wall is lined. Has a fire place, two small rooms and good stock of firewood when you need it.

A great place to stop on the lakes walk track.

A great little hut and toilet with great views. We just walked in and out but looks like a great emergency stop.

The day we chose to go for a stroll , the weather wasn't so pleasant. I must say it was great to see a structure on the trip to get out of the elements for a while.

On the road to Kosi, Seamans Hut is a sombre reminder, even in Summer, of the dangers of the treeless high country and sudden weather shifts of the Main Range. This shelter of last resort is kept in good nick by the park rangers and respected by those who pass by. Check out the memorials to those who didn't survive.

Great place for a rest. Easy walk from Rawson Pass. Well worth it.

Excellent emergency accommodation for alpine hikers, or a spot out of the rain for day walkers having lunch. There is no toilet. The closest toilet is over 1km away at Rawsons Pass (closed in winter).

There is no water close to the hut, a stream can be found nearby with occasional flow, water should be collected on approach when crossing the Snowy River.

There are a number of campsites surrounding the hut suitable for small tents in summer, easier to find campsites in winter as there are some rocks in the ground around the hut.
