Ballarat Station

Classic and beautiful station, easy to find it, trains on time, you can find a coffee shop inside and of course toilets.

Ballarat station looks similar like Geelong station with the old ambiences, felt like I went back to the 1900's plus more technology 😁😁😁😁

Old fashioned nostalgic train stop.
For the disabled it can be awkward with only stairs to cross the platforms, but there are plans to put a lift in.

Just imagine it's been a while in planning because of the heritage status of the site

A beautiful and well run station, originally designed as for a capital city, (they thought it was going to be until Canberra was realised)
Interesting architecture from 1880s provides eye catching angles and photogenic nooks

Very helpful staff, easy to navigate station, excellent train drivers & crew, make sure everyone is looked after!

its showing its age, but it just makes me like it evn more with that huge grand staircase right smack in the middle. Staff everywhere & willing to help. Thers everything here café, toilets & taxi 🚕 rank out the front. Nilly forgot thers also a brand new bus stop next door & all the city 🚌 busses stop there...

The station is great, the policy to not let users onto the first half of the train that is joining with another that will eventually arrive at the platform not so much.

Great heritage railway building! Great 40 minute-ish frequency trains to the city. Really hope platform 2 would be accessible without going on the stairs to catch the train on a rush. Other than that, this station is really cool with a Cafe just beside platform 1.

This is a lovely old train station in ballarat just needs a bit of love ❤ to restore it to it's former glory .

Though we did not spend much time here, we were utterly charmed by the 1880’s colonial architecture. Home to modern, well-stocked vending machines and adequate facilities. If you need to make a phone call, the pay phones are now free! A must see for anyone catching the train to Ballarat.

Lovely heritage style station dating back a long time, very nice classical architecture, the little cafe on the platform is quite good, nice place to wait and get a bite to eat before your train. Staff are pretty good overall and no real trouble makers mostly.

Really great to have a new hardly ever check out the city of Ballarat VIC Australia and New year to have a good time

One of the last great Victorian (as in Queen Victoria) railway stations built in 1862. The Refreshment Room still retains a lot of its grandeur despite its garish soft drink fridges and fast food. The original panelling is there.
Other features to note is the original wooden platform overpass/stairs (though an alternative is due for disabled passengers). And the original clocks, still in situ, sadly not working and sans the metal destination boards which the station master would pull down with a hook, retracting the previous board. Ingenious! Railway stations are marvellous 🙂

So quaint - yet serviceable! Quick and tasty coffee! A bit too hot though.

This station houses the "Station Refreshment Room", probably the nicest old-style café that I've seen in Victoria.

It's comfortable.

The staff are pleasant every time, and I've been visiting this place a couple of times per year for the better part of ten years.

The coffees are so good you'll probably buy more than you wanted to. I know I do.

BEAUTIFULLY MAINTAINED EXAMPLE OF THE RAILWAY ERA
This station was built over a century ago when trains were the only transport option for intercity travel.
It is a grand old building with high ceilings (to accommodate the stream trains and the huge plumes of smoke they generated.
Still retains an old step bridge across the platforms.

I came fresh from the fire station, not knowing exactly what other brilliant things are in Ballarat. But the train station really does stand out. The accomodation is amazing and the trains are speedy as bro. People new only need to look here to find true happiness.
