Spent the whole day here and didn't see everything. Excellent place full of period actors and reenactments. Great food, the chicken sandwich was delicious. The school teacher who also plays the coffee seller is lovely. The policeman is a proper funny character. The bars sell real beer. Just brilliant all round fun and entertainment.

This place is pretty amazing. It’s like travelling back in time. The staff was friendly and the fact they are wearing period clothes is just next level. The raspberry drops are amazing and worth getting some. They had so many little places to explore and everything just felt cozy and nice. The mine section is really immersive, literally. Kids would definitely enjoy this as well as anyone interested in history. I went on a Wednesday and it wasn’t crowded at all

Great ‘live’ museum. It’d been decades since visiting and the place was still amazing. The atmosphere, staff, and service were great all throughout our visit. Costumes and the way staff greeted and spoke was very era-appropriate and like stepping back in time.

Take your time when visiting. Plenty to see and do. It’s also a very large space to walk around.

The morning opening time wasn’t overly busy, but it did get busy as the morning and afternoon went on.

Very pleasant trip and experience altogether.

Exciting life time experience of mines tour. Many educative demonstrations on wheel making. Horse cart rides. Gold pour experience is just amazing. Gold digging is fun though time consuming. March past of soldiers is exciting. Overall a must visit place for lot of fun for kids and educative tour for adults.

Absolutely 💯 fantastic day out. It's such a wonderful place to go back into the past of Victoria and the Eureka era. Hats off, and congratulations to all the staff who make this day memorable for the visitors. You all do an amazing job in engaging us with your stories role-play and general knowledge and assistance. My husband laughed so much and it was truly amazing to see him enjoy the day.

What an awesome experience to be able to revisit the incredible Gold rush history of the 1850s. There's a lot of interactive museum that allows you take part of the history from a self guided tour of the Red Hill mine to Gold panning. I really had a good time good panning, and have considered quitting my job and start doing it full time. 😆 🤣 😂

We took the train from Southern Cross Station and the trip was only 1.5hr and then took bus 21 to Sovereign Hill.

Highly recommended to visit at least once as it brings back the nostalgic feeling of Old Sydney Town which I truly miss.

An incredible destination for both children and adults. I believe school-going kids can gain a wealth of knowledge about Australia's past. My three-year-old enjoyed exploring traditional gold extraction and an underground gold mining site. It was truly thrilling to venture into the darkness and uncover the history of mining. I will certainly revisit with my child as she grows older. Highly recommended. My only complaint is regarding the steep ticket price for adults—it shouldn't exceed $20-30.

Fantastic experience. Nice to visit again 20 years after my last visit with children of my own. Lots of things to see and do. During school holidays be prepared to wait a little long to see demonstrations and to line up to enter various buildings.

We came here on boxing day & it was great. We arrived at 10am & didn't leave until after 2.30pm. There is so much to see & explore with plenty of demonstrations of sweets being made, Muscats being fired, gold pouring & more. Our kids loved panning for gold, as did we! Plenty of areas to play & the staff were all amazing. We can now see why everyone enjoys going there & we'd certainly come again when guests visit.

Very fun and educational experience here - reenacting the life of gold miners in the 1800s. You’ve got plenty to do in a day - but can also pick and choose and spend 4 hours or so. We did come off season so there was no crowds or wait - but I assume it gets quite busy during school holidays.

Highly recommended if you’re curious about the gold rush history of Australia - and even more so if there’s kids involved, there are a ton of fun activities.

Great place to enjoy some history and pan for gold. Recommend wear comfy clothes if panning for gold and sneakers for the long walks. The staff were friendly and answered all of our questions. We visited on a very rainy weekend day, and crowding was not an issue. Bring your own snacks, as some of the food was a bit expensive. There are water stations (that look like wine barrels) located along the area. Great trinkets and small gifts are available throughout the exhibits.

Must visit attractions if you're interested in mining. Especially into Gold. Make sure to take the tours. Some are free and some have to pre-book and pay. There is a guided tour with a tram into earth. Plenty of kids attractions. Restaurants and rest rooms are available. Horse cart riding is also popular. And you can do your own mining.

Dynamite. Like no other place we have visited. An entire town from the 1890's that's alive! Please go there, the effort put into recreating every living, moving part of an old gold mining town will amaze. We'll be back. Loved it. Thank you. P. S. Excellent staff, some in character, cafe, parking and souvineers. Most folk absolutely loved panning for gold in the river and riding the horse and carriage. Oh, and they even recreated living gardens in little homes. Incredible detail.

Absolutely one of the best tourist spots in Victoria. The $50 entry is so all worth it with the staff being in their characters, we'll-maintained facilities, great food in cafes. You can spend your whole day here.
