Visiting the wildlife park was so enjoyable, it was honestly just a spur of the moment on this solo trip but it was worth it. There were a few animals out that day but not too many, maybe it was hot that day, but you can't not see kangaroos just chilling about so you have plenty of time to feed them, a food bag costs an extra 4 bucks fyi.. careful tho, some kangaroos really chomp down so hold your hand out flat 🤣. It was also really nice of the park to have presentations around the zoo/park so ppl could go to, both to watch animals but to learn more about them at the same time, I managed to watch one about the tigers :)

Incredible place to visit local animals like koalas, kangaroos, penguins, Tasmanian devils and many reptiles. Worth 2-hour of travel from Melbourne to Ballarat. I have a chance to attend Koala encounter and it was amazing. All of the staffs there were super nice and friendly, specially thanks to Michelle who supported us during Koala encounter session. Kangaroos were walking freely in the park and they were very tame which you can feed foods by your hand. Didn't have a chance to observe Wombat as they're sleeping in the den. I'll recommend everyone to visit this place!

We had a wonderful morning at the zoo. It had great enclosures, clean and well kept. The gran children were able to get close to many of the animals and had no trouble spotting those that were in enclosures. The animals appeared to be very well kelt and many had a rapport with their keepers. The wombats even rolled over for tummy rubs, very cute. A wonderfull time was had by all.

So impressed. Enclosures are absolutely amazing, clean and natural. The staff obviously work very hard to provide the best possible environment for the animals. Every animal was clean and in top condition and very happy and relaxed with the visitors. I loved this park so much, can't wait to go back.

We went there for one reason - kangaroos, and we had a wonderful day there.
I didn't expect this wildlife park to be this professional, I mean I am not an expert but Crunch - the croc seems to have had a better life than his cousin in the Melbourne aquarium. At least he can enjoy the sunshine.
The staff (both human and other animal staff) are very friendly there. We really enjoyed the time we were hanging out with roo friends.
Good place for a day trip. There is an area where you can have a picnic with the roos, but remember to bring a mat with you if you would like to do so.

What an amazing experience!
Easy access by train from Melbourne Southern Cross station to Wendouree, via Ballarat line and from Ballarat Station by 20 Canadian Bus which drops you (and picks you up) in front of the park. The bus runs hourly so you can easily plan your timing. The whole trip, train+bus, is 5AUD one way.
The access fee to the park is 38.50 AUD at the gate or 34AUD if you buy online.
Been to similar wildlife parks but at this one the interaction with the animals was the best. Kangaroos roam freely throughout the park and are very friendly. You can buy some kangaroos food at the entrance for 4AUD. You can also interact with emus and even alpacas. At the time of my visit, the park had 27 koalas split in many enclosures but close enough to take some great pictures. Wombats, dingoes, cassowaries, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles and alligators, little penguins, eagle ,meerkats, tigers, giant tortoises and lots of reptiles including Komodo dragons.
The park offers animal encounters for a fee and that includes professional pictures.
Highly recommended trip while in Melbourne!

Fantastic small wildlife park with koalas, kangaroos, crocs, snakes and even 3 Tasmanian devils! Fascinating talks about the animals as well as the chance to hold and feed them. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

My experience at Ballarat Wildlife Park was simply incredible. From the moment I entered the park I was greeted by a vibrant atmosphere and surrounded by an array of fascinating animals. Feeding the kangaroos was one of the best parts. These adorable and curious creatures approached me, gently taking food from my hands. It was a unique feeling to be so close to these incredible animals.

In addition to the kangaroos, I had the opportunity to see the majestic Bengal tigers. I confess that I was impressed by the size and beauty of these cats. They exuded an imposing presence as they rested in their enclosures. I was also able to observe the dingoes, with their wild look and natural elegance.

I can't fail to mention the koalas, who were just adorable. Seeing these lazy, fluffy creatures clinging to the trees, living their peaceful lifestyle, brought a sense of serenity to my heart.

As I roamed the park I also encountered a variety of other animals such as wombats, emus, wallabies and colorful birds. Each encounter was an opportunity to learn more about Australia's amazing wildlife and appreciate its diversity.

Overall, my experience at Ballarat Wildlife Park was truly wonderful. I recommend everyone to visit and have the chance to connect with nature in a unique way. It's a place where you can appreciate the beauty of animals, learn about conservation and create lasting memories.

Compared with the past 8 wild parks which I visited in Au & NZ, this is really the best one. Why? It is because you can see the wild animals at closer distances than the others, but of course not tiger, crocodiles...

It is so funny & happy to see the big birds in self-parade at their own pace, kangaroos lazily lying under the sunlight neglecting your food offering, etc. etc.

The show at the interval is well arranged and so we can spend 4 hours happily here. Absolutely highly recommended!!

I visited the park with my grandchildren, they enjoyed it very much.
The best thing is that everything is within a small area and not exhausting to walk around.
Great feeding experience with the animals and the staff are very knowledgeable explaining the habits while feeding them.

Great place for a day outing with your family. Not many animals to see (compared to Melbourne zoo), but their interactive sessions make a great experience. Plenty of picnic spaces and freely roaming kangaroos, alpacas and emus are there. You can also buy some kangaroo food at the entrance - we loved feeding the kangaroos!

Not a massive park but perfectly suited to kids and adults of all age groups.
The kangaroo feeding is definitely a highlight and the kangaroos are all fairly friendly and placid. Food can be purchased at front entrance for $4 a bag
There are multiple animal shows starting from midday.
The reptile enclosure is also lots of fun, lots to look at and well set up.
Overall a really run park with good facilities and healthy animals

Wonderful wild life park. Lots to see and do for kids. It’s not too tiring like the Melbourne zoo.
The staff are simply amazing, not just one or two but most of them. Super friendly and kind, you can tell how passionate they are about the animals and their jobs. Loved the presentation of the lady who did the demo on Tasmanian devils. My kids and myself learned so much about them that we never knew before. The kangas were all lazy on the day we went and the kids loved petting them as they all were super relaxed.
I suggest gum boots for this place on rainy days as the walkways can get muddy. Definitely carry a poncho in case the skies decide to sprinkle. I would visit this wildlife park over any of the other mainstream zoos for sure

Get up and close with different Australian animals for some extra charges. Not the biggest Zoo, but worth while a visit.

One of the best wildlife parks we've been to. Great for kids. The animal enclosures are so well looked after with very passionate zoo keepers. Easy to get around and to see the animals up close was a treat. The presentations were great and the animals were in perfect condition. Excellent place to visit.
