The Centrepoint Carpark

Very convenient Carpark in the centre of Hobart. Reasonable price to park your car for several hours.

I prefer Centrepoint to park in more than Argyle Street. It’s less gloomy and the lifts are cleaner as are the toilets. You can get a meal underneath or a coffee, and it’s closer to the part of the city I mostly use. As a pensioner I can get weekly tickets for all City Car Parks owned by the Hobart City Council that give me 4 hours of free parking. You just take your pension card and car registration into the HCC along with your car registration and you can get 52 tickets for the year. They’re issued for the financial year. When you use your ticket though, you must validate it with the attendant at the desk in each car park as the automated ticket machine will charge full rates.

All car park users get the first 90 minutes free. I didn’t need to validate my ticket under that time, but it’s a good idea to anyway. I’d hate to hold up cars in a line. 🚗 🚙 🚗 🚙 🚗 😳 😬
We need to support our local businesses to keep them going or we shall lose even more stores than we already have. Try to shop local rather than online. - most people still want to try things on - especially shoes and clothes.

Even though the spaces seem a little tight, it was great to be able to get my ticket when I drove in and put my ticket in the machine on my way out without too much stress due to my disability. Will only park here in future when in the city

Convenient carpark, can be a bit pricey for more than a few hours' worth (if you park for less than 1 hour it is free). Must remember to keep your ticket on your person and validate at a machine in the centre before leaving.

If you run late and don't make it into the Centrepoint arcade from regular entrances before closing time, you can walk in through the car entry/exit point and use the lift to go down to the ticket machines. The stairs are usually closed at the Ground Floor before the lifts are closed.

After searching some other car parks we parked here for the day while visiting MONA. Just make time to get to the ferry wharf

Very handy to shops and arcades, and reasonable fees, particularly in view of exorbitant parking fines in the street!

October 2022: possibly the nicest of the HCC carparks

Good place to stop and have a INEXPENSIVE meal coffee etc

The first half and hour is free. That's the good point.
