Just wow!
Massive museum. We didn’t have all day, so we could only spend a few hours, but you can easily spend at least 2 days if you visited all the attractions. There are 19 buildings! We could only do 1 in 2.5 hours.
They have free lockers where you can store your belongings during your visit.

Would only recommend visiting on the first Sunday of each month, because then it's free and the tank hall is open to the public (it's the best part of the museum).

Other than that, a must-see for all history enthusiasts!

Amazing. Great value. 17 euro spent easily two hours there. Be sure to head out through the coffee shop to the Kriegs marine hall which has amazing shop models. It is very easily missed. Also they have a tank hall that is open on a Sunday a few minutes walk from the main building. But that part is only open on Sunday!

Fantastic military museum. We used the U-ban to get here, it was about a 10-15 minute walk from the station. The price of admission was a very reasonable 7 euros per adult. The building itself is stunning and the hall of generals when you first walk in is very interesting. They have a little cafe/bookshop and very clean bathrooms. The displays are incredible with an interesting mix of artwork. The highlight is the car Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in. The world war displays were well done. My husband loved the early weapons upstairs.

Free parking and a reasonable price to enter. A fascinating insight to the military history of Austria. We spent several hours looking around the exhibits and building. I thoroughly enjoyed learning of their early forces and campaigns.

Can't believe this place was not full. Excellent exhibits. Wish it would have more audio-visual reenactment on screen. Etc video and how equipment was used. Need to look at media city war museum manchester. The marble and weapons on show are the business of war. Ferdinands car, the beginning of a world war is truly amazing. You can rearly see something so involved. Don't get to close the alarm goes off. Was really interested in the Austrian Navy. Really amazing museum looks like the government should be spending a bit on this. And advertising every place. If it was in the uk. Bit surprised Russia did not put an offer in for the tanks 🙄

The Museum of Military History located at Arsenal 1, 1030 Wien, Austria is an excellent History Museum on the various period battles that have taken place in Vienna and the Austrian Empire and before. Manu exhibits from Guns, Swords, Cannons, Military Clothing, and flags. Much art work and the place is gorgeously designed architecturally speaking. Lots of WWI, WWII and long before are exhibits here.

I liked the museum. It has a lot of interesting pieces on display including the car Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in.
It's very factual and lacks most of the political background why things happened but I guess that was the point to just focus on the military point of view.
If you like history it's definitely worth to see.

The collection was very nice and complete, sadly the WWII section was closed when we visited.

Outstanding showcase of Austrian military history. The building interior is grand, opulent and mesmerising with detailed fixtures, sculptures and beautifully illustrated walls and ceilings. There is a coffee and gift shop at ground level, toilets, lifts and a tank display in the rear garden. The museum is open to the public free of charge on Sunday with a donation box near the entry. Recommend a visit.

Do not pass this up. I'm not a museum fan but this isn't a regular museum. It's not just a history of the military but rather history in general.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and decided to stop in here for a quick visit. The museum is surprisingly well priced compared to other museums in Vienna, which makes it a great option if you don't have a ton of time like us. The place itself is pretty large, with military artifacts going back 500 years. I personally really liked the WW2 collection on the first floor. I do wish that they had more signage in English, as it was hard to understand what a lot of the individual items on display were. Overall, still a great place to visit for any military history buff.

I was impressed by the quality of the materials present in the museum and also by the architecture itself. From the Middle Ages to the Second World War, the setting is really well done and arouses the right amount of curiosity. The finds are numerous and well preserved, so it is a pleasure for enthusiasts to visit this place!🙌

One of the best military museums about past wars, specifically WWI and the sorrow its caused to Europe. Also, a beautiful palace…

A building that looks like a castle. There are 32 statues of Austrian commanders at the entrance of the museum. The car and uniform of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was assassinated in Sarajevo, are exhibited here.

This place is amazing for every history nerd. With every step the museum just keep giving and giving, and it doesn't stop. Every room is well organized and you can find the description in many languages at the entrance. You can easily spend the whole day there if your legs can handle it. Somehow I missed naval and WWII sections, which can be better marked, so I'll have to return, what I'll do gladly. Tank hall was an amazing addition to my visit . All things considered, I had had a superb experience there.

An awesome museum.
The museum contains a huge and impressive collection. It is separated into different time periods. Each section of the museum was well thought out and explained the history in a clear way as you walked through.
The World War One exhibition was very well done, as it starts with the car and uniform of Franz Ferdinand, and then takes you through the Great War chronologically. The section on the Habsburg-Ottoman wars was also very impressive.
I recommend reading the yellow papers at the start of each exhibition to give some context to the items and time period.
I highly recommend this museum to anyone with an interest in history. The ticket is not too expensive and you can easily walk around for the whole afternoon.
The complex in which the museum is located is itself also very nice.
10/10

4.5
Great display of interesting objects. Beautiful architecture of the building.
Why am I subtracting half a point?
(1) The commentary could take more of a point of view on the various wars and historic episodes. The museum could provide more background. Just showing the objects, their name, the year is not enough. I had hoped to learn more about war, how it changed over time, etc.
(2) Some of the beautiful architecture is simply cluttered - especially the entrance hall of the field marshal hall. It is difficult to take a picture without having some sign or table or chair protruding into the frame.

Ir you like history you MUST go there. Many suits and flags of former Austrian wars. The best place from my point of view was the space dedicated to the I and II World War, they even have the car where Franz Ferdinand was murdered and the suit he was wearing
